Павел, по воле Бога апостол Христа Иисуса, согласно Его обещанию о жизни в Христе Иисусе.

This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life he has promised through faith in Christ Jesus.

Моему дорогому сыну Тимофею. Благодать, милость и мир от Бога Отца и нашего Господа Христа Иисуса.

I am writing to Timothy, my dear son. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.

Я благодарю Бога — которому служу с чистой совестью, как это делали и мои праотцы — когда вспоминаю о тебе в своих молитвах, которые я совершаю день и ночь.

Timothy, I thank God for you — the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers.

Я вспоминаю твои слезы и очень хочу увидеть тебя: эта встреча очень обрадовала бы меня.

I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again.

Я вспоминаю и о твоей искренней вере: так верили и твоя бабушка Лоида, и твоя мать Евника, и я убежден, что эта же вера живет и в тебе.

I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.

Воспламеняй в себе дар, который ты получил по милости Бога через возложение моих рук.

This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

Бог ведь дал нам не дух страха, а дух силы, любви и самообладания.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Поэтому не бойся говорить о нашем Господе и не стыдись того, что я нахожусь в заключении за Него. Наоборот, раздели со мной страдания за Евангелие, положившись на Божью силу.

So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News.

Бог спас нас и призвал своим святым призывом не по нашим заслугам, но для исполнения своей цели и по своей благодати, данной нам в Христе Иисусе еще до начала мира.

For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time — to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.

И теперь мы увидели эту благодать, когда пришел Спаситель наш Христос Иисус, который уничтожил смерть и через Евангелие показал новую жизнь и бессмертие.

And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News.

И я был избран вестником, апостолом и учителем этого Евангелия.

And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News.

За это я и страдаю сейчас, но не стыжусь этого, потому что знаю, в кого я поверил, и знаю, что Он способен сохранить то, что мне доверил до дня своего возвращения.

That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to hima until the day of his return.

Пусть образцом правильного учения будет для тебя то, что ты услышал от меня, вместе с верой и любовью, которая во Христе Иисусе.

Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me — a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus.

Пусть Дух Святой, живущий в нас, поможет тебе сберечь то доброе, что было тебе доверено.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.

Все в Aсии оставили меня, включая Фигела и Гермогена; тебе это известно.

As you know, everyone from the province of Asia has deserted me — even Phygelus and Hermogenes.

Пусть Господь проявит милость к дому Онисифора, ведь он так часто ободрял меня и ему не было стыдно того, что я нахожусь в кандалах.

May the Lord show special kindness to Onesiphorus and all his family because he often visited and encouraged me. He was never ashamed of me because I was in chains.

И когда он был в Риме, то старательно разыскивал меня, пока не нашел.

When he came to Rome, he searched everywhere until he found me.

Пусть же Господь помилует его в день своего пришествия. А как много он помог мне в Эфесе, ты хорошо знаешь.

May the Lord show him special kindness on the day of Christ’s return. And you know very well how helpful he was in Ephesus.
