Быў адзін чалавек у Раматаіме, Цуфіт з гары Эфраіма, імем Элькана, сын Ерахама, сына Элігу, сына Таку, сына Цуфа, Эфрацянін.

Now there was a certain man of Ramathaimzophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:

Ён меў дзьве жонкі: імя адной Ганна, а імя другой Пэніна. У Пэніны былі сыны, а ў Ганны дзяцей не было.

And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

Штогод той чалавек хадзіў з гораду свайго ў Шыло, каб пакланіцца і скласьці ахвяру ГОСПАДУ Магуцьцяў. Былі там два сыны Гэлія: Хофні і Пінхас, сьвятары ГОСПАДА.

And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

Калі Элькана складаў ахвяру, у той дзень даваў жонцы сваёй Пэніне і ўсім сынам і дочкам ейным па частцы складанай ахвяры,

And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:

а Ганьне даваў падвойную частку, бо Ганну ён любіў. Але ГОСПАД не даваў ёй нарадзіць.

But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.

Суперніца ейная дакучала ёй, і дрэнчыла яе, бо ГОСПАД замкнуў улоньне ейнае.

And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

Так цягнулася шмат гадоў; колькі разоў ішла яна ў сьвятыню ГОСПАДА, тая засмучала яе. Ганна дзеля таго плакала і ня ела.

And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

І сказаў ёй Элькана, муж ейны: «Чаму ты плачаш і чаму не ясі? Чаму сумуе сэрца тваё? Ці ж я табе не мілейшы, чым дзесяць сыноў?»

Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?

Калі ў Шыло скончылі есьці і піць, Ганна ўстала. А сьвятар Гэлій сядзеў на крэсьле перад брамай сьвятыні ГОСПАДА.

So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD.

І Ганна, сумная душою, малілася да ГОСПАДА, горка плачучы.

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.

І шлюбавала яна, кажучы: «ГОСПАД Магуцьцяў, калі Ты спагадна глянеш на прыніжэньне служкі Тваёй, і прыгадаеш мяне, і не забудзешся пра служку Тваю, і дасі мне дзіця мужчынскага роду, я аддам яго ГОСПАДУ на ўсе дні жыцьця ягонага, і лязо не кранецца галавы ягонай».

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no rasor come upon his head.

Калі яна так шчыра і доўга малілася перад ГОСПАДАМ, Гэлій прыглядаўся да вуснаў ейных.

And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her mouth.

А Ганна гаварыла ў глыбіні сэрца свайго, і толькі варушыліся вусны ейныя, але голасу не было чуваць, і Гэлій думаў, што яна п’яная,

Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

і сказаў ёй: «Дакуль будзеш п’яная? Ацьверазіся ад віна».

And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

Ганна адказала: «Не, гаспадару мой. Я — нешчасьлівая жанчына. Я ня піла нічога такога, каб ап’янець, ані віна, ані сікеры, але я выліваю душу сваю перад ГОСПАДАМ.

And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

Не лічы служкі тваёй за адну з дачок Бэліяла, бо я дзеля вялікага болю і смутку свайго гаварыла ўвесь час».

Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

І Гэлій засмуціўся, і сказаў ёй: «Ідзі ў супакоі, а Бог Ізраіля няхай споўніць просьбу тваю, пра што маліла Яго».

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

А яна сказала: «О, няхай знойдзе служанка твая ласку ў вачах тваіх». І адыйшла тая жанчына дарогаю сваёй, і ела, і аблічча ейнае не было ўжо такім, як раней.

And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

І падняліся назаўтра рана, і пакланіліся перад ГОСПАДАМ, і пайшлі ў дарогу зваротную, і прыйшлі ў дом свой у Раме. І Элькана спазнаў жонку сваю Ганну, і ГОСПАД узгадаў просьбу ейную.

And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.

Ганна зачала па нейкім часе, і нарадзіла сына, і дала яму імя Самуэль, таму што ад ГОСПАДА выпрасіла яго.

Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD.

Муж ейны Элькана і ўвесь дом ягоны пайшоў злажыць штогадовую ахвяру ГОСПАДУ і споўніць шлюбаваньні.

And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.

Але Ганна не пайшла. Яна сказала мужу свайму: «Не пайду, пакуль хлопчык ня будзе адняты ад грудзей і падрасьце, а тады завяду яго, і ён стане перад абліччам ГОСПАДА, і застанецца там назаўсёды».

But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and there abide for ever.

Адказаў ёй Элькана, муж ейны: «Рабі, што добра ў вачах тваіх. Заставайся, пакуль яго не адымеш ад грудзей. Толькі няхай ГОСПАД зьдзейсьніць словы Свае». І засталася маці дома, і карміла сына свайго, пакуль не адняла яго ад грудзей сваіх.

And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.

Калі ўжо адняла, павяла яго з сабою, і ўзяла таксама трохгадовага бычка, адну эфу мукі і буклак віна, і прывяла яго ў Дом ГОСПАДА ў Шыло. А хлопец быў яшчэ дзіцём.

And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young.

І забілі бычка, і занесьлі хлопца да Гэлія.

And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.

І сказала [Ганна]: «Прашу, гаспадару мой, няхай жыве душа твая, гаспадару. Я — тая самая жанчына, якая стаяла тут перад табой і маліла ГОСПАДА.

And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD.

Маліла я пра гэтае дзіця, і споўніў ГОСПАД просьбу маю, што я прасіла ў Яго.

For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him:

Таму я аддаю яго ГОСПАДУ на ўсе дні; колькі будзе жыць, ён аддадзены для ГОСПАДА». І пакланіліся там ГОСПАДУ.

Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.
