The words of Amos, who was among the shepherdsa of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel, two yearsb before the earthquake.

And he said: “The Lord roars from Zion and utters his voice from Jerusalem; the pastures of the shepherds mourn, and the top of Carmel withers.”

Und er sprach: Der HERR wird aus Zion brüllen und seine Stimme aus Jerusalem hören lassen, daß die Auen der Hirten vertrocknen werden und der Karmel oben verdorren wird.

Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,c because they have threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron.

a So spricht der HERR: Um drei, ja um vier Frevel willen derer von Damaskus will ich sie nicht schonen, weil sie Gilead mit eisernen Dreschschlitten gedroschen haben;

So I will send a fire upon the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the strongholds of Ben-hadad.

sondern ich will ein Feuer schicken in das Haus Hasaëls, das soll die Paläste Ben- Hadads verzehren.

I will break the gate-bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven,d and him who holds the scepter from Beth-eden; and the people of Syria shall go into exile to Kir,” says the Lord.

Und ich will die Riegel von Damaskus zerbrechen und die Einwohner aus Bikat- Awen und den, der das Zepter hält, aus Bet-Eden ausrotten, und das Volk von Aram soll nach Kir weggeführt werden, spricht der HERR.

Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they carried into exile a whole people to deliver them up to Edom.

a So spricht der HERR: Um drei, ja um vier Frevel willen derer von Gaza will ich sie nicht schonen, weil sie die Gefangenen alle weggeführt und an Edom ausgeliefert haben;

So I will send a fire upon the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour her strongholds.

sondern ich will ein Feuer in die Mauern von Gaza schicken, das soll seine Paläste verzehren.

I will cut off the inhabitants from Ashdod, and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon; I will turn my hand against Ekron, and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,” says the Lord God.

Und ich will die Einwohner aus Aschdod und den, der das Zepter hält, aus Aschkelon ausrotten und meine Hand gegen Ekron wenden, und es soll umkommen, was von den Philistern noch übrig ist, spricht Gott der HERR.

Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they delivered up a whole people to Edom, and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.

a So spricht der HERR: Um drei, ja um vier Frevel willen derer von Tyrus will ich sie nicht schonen, weil sie die Gefangenen alle an Edom ausgeliefert und nicht an den Bruderbund gedacht haben;

So I will send a fire upon the wall of Tyre, and it shall devour her strongholds.”

sondern ich will ein Feuer in die Mauern von Tyrus schicken, das soll seine Paläste verzehren.

Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because he pursued his brother with the sword and cast off all pity, and his anger tore perpetually, and he kept his wrath forever.

a So spricht der HERR: Um drei, ja um vier Frevel willen derer von Edom will ich sie nicht schonen, weil sie ihren Bruder mit dem Schwert verfolgt und alles Erbarmen von sich getan haben und immerfort wüten in ihrem Zorn und an ihrem Grimm ewig festhalten;

So I will send a fire upon Teman, and it shall devour the strongholds of Bozrah.”

sondern ich will ein Feuer schicken nach Teman, das soll die Paläste von Bozra verzehren.

Thus says the Lord: “For three transgressions of the Ammonites, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have ripped open pregnant women in Gilead, that they might enlarge their border.

a So spricht der HERR: Um drei, ja um vier Frevel willen derer von Ammon will ich sie nicht schonen, weil sie die Schwangeren in Gilead aufgeschlitzt haben, um ihr Gebiet zu erweitern;

So I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour her strongholds, with shouting on the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind;

sondern ich will ein Feuer anzünden in den Mauern Rabbas, das soll seine Paläste verzehren, wenn man das Kriegsgeschrei erhebt am Tage der Schlacht, wenn das Wetter kommt am Tage des Sturms.

and their king shall go into exile, he and his princese together,” says the Lord.

Da wird dann ihr König samt seinen Oberen gefangen weggeführt werden, spricht der HERR.
