When David was an old man, he appointed his son Solomon to be king over Israel.

Состарился Давид, насытился жизнью. И поставил он сына своего Соломона царем над Израилем.

David summoned all the leaders of Israel, together with the priests and Levites.

Собрал он всех вождей Израиля, священников и левитов.

All the Levites who were thirty years old or older were counted, and the total came to 38,000.

Левиты старше тридцати лет были пересчитаны; и было их — считали их друг за другом — тридцать восемь тысяч человек.

Then David said, “From all the Levites, 24,000 will supervise the work at the Temple of the LORD. Another 6,000 will serve as officials and judges.

Из них на служение в Храме1 ГОСПОДНЕМ были назначены Давидом двадцать четыре тысячи; старосты и судьи — шесть тысяч;

Another 4,000 will work as gatekeepers, and 4,000 will praise the LORD with the musical instruments I have made.”

четыре тысячи — привратники, и четыре тысячи восхваляли ГОСПОДА на музыкальных инструментах, сделанных Давидом для восхвалений.

Then David divided the Levites into divisions named after the clans descended from the three sons of Levi — Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.The Gershonites

Он разделил левитов на три череды по сыновьям Левия: Гершону, Кехату и Мерари.

The Gershonite family units were defined by their lines of descent from Libnia and Shimei, the sons of Gershon.

От Гершона — Ладан и Шими.

Three of the descendants of Libni were Jehiel (the family leader), Zetham, and Joel.

Сыновья Ладана: первенец Ехиэль, Зетам и Иоиль — всего трое.

These were the leaders of the family of Libni. Three of the descendants of Shimei were Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran.

Сыновья Шими: Шеломот, Хазиэль и Харан — всего трое. Это главы родов Ладана.

Four other descendants of Shimei were Jahath, Ziza,b Jeush, and Beriah.

Еще сыновья Шими: Яхат, Зиза,2 Еуш, Бериа — эти четверо тоже сыновья Шими.

Jahath was the family leader, and Ziza was next. Jeush and Beriah were counted as a single family because neither had many sons.The Kohathites

Яхат был первым, Зиза — вторым; у Еуша и Берии сыновей было мало, потому они были посчитаны как один род.

Four of the descendants of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

Сыновья Кехата: Амрам, Ицхар, Хеврон и Уззиэль — всего четверо.

The sons of Amram were Aaron and Moses. Aaron and his descendants were set apart to dedicate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices in the LORD’s presence, to serve the LORD, and to pronounce blessings in his name forever.

Сыновья Амрама: Аарон и Моисей. Аарон был отделен, чтобы освящал он Святая святых, он и все потомки его навеки, чтобы приносил жертвы перед ГОСПОДОМ, служил Ему и благословлял именем Его вовек.

As for Moses, the man of God, his sons were included with the tribe of Levi.

А что до Моисея, человека Божия, потомки его причислены к роду левитов.

The sons of Moses were Gershom and Eliezer.

Сыновья Моисея: Гершон и Элиэзер.

The descendants of Gershom included Shebuel, the family leader.

Сыновья Гершона: первенец Шуваэль.3

Eliezer had only one son, Rehabiah, the family leader. Rehabiah had numerous descendants.

Сыном Элиэзера был первенец Рехавья. И не было других сыновей у Элиэзера, а у Рехавьи было очень много сыновей.

The descendants of Izhar included Shelomith, the family leader.

Сыновья Ицхара: первенец4 Шеломот.5

The descendants of Hebron included Jeriah (the family leader), Amariah (the second), Jahaziel (the third), and Jekameam (the fourth).

Сыновья Хеврона: Ерия — первенец, Амарья — второй, Яхазиэль — третий, Екамам — четвертый.

The descendants of Uzziel included Micah (the family leader) and Isshiah (the second).The Merarites

Сыновья Уззиэля: Миха — первенец, Ишшия — второй.

The descendants of Merari included Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli were Eleazar and Kish.

Сыновья Мерари: Махли и Муши. Сыновья Махли: Элеазар и Киш.

Eleazar died with no sons, only daughters. His daughters married their cousins, the sons of Kish.

Элеазар умер, не оставив сыновей, лишь дочери у него были. Их взяли в жены двоюродные братья, сыновья Киша.

Three of the descendants of Mushi were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth.

Сыновья Муши: Махли, Эдер и Еремот — всего трое.

These were the descendants of Levi by clans, the leaders of their family groups, registered carefully by name. Each had to be twenty years old or older to qualify for service in the house of the LORD.

Вот потомки Левия по родам их, главы родов их, как они были занесены поименно в списки друг за другом, выполнявшие работы по служению в Храме ГОСПОДНЕМ, от двадцати лет и старше.

For David said, “The LORD, the God of Israel, has given us peace, and he will always live in Jerusalem.

Ибо сказал Давид: «ГОСПОДЬ, Бог Израиля, даровал народу Своему покой и Сам навеки поселился в Иерусалиме.

Now the Levites will no longer need to carry the Tabernacle and its furnishings from place to place.”

Потому не будет уже более нужды левитам переносить Скинию и всю утварь для служения в ней».

In accordance with David’s final instructions, all the Levites twenty years old or older were registered for service.

И согласно этому последнему повелению Давидову, были они пересчитаны — сыновья Левия от двадцати лет и старше.

The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the LORD. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.

Обязанностью их было помогать потомкам Аарона в работах в Храме ГОСПОДНЕМ, во дворах и комнатах, а также чистить всю священную утварь и выполнять всякую другую работу в Храме Божьем.

They were in charge of the sacred bread that was set out on the table, the choice flour for the grain offerings, the wafers made without yeast, the cakes cooked in olive oil, and the other mixed breads. They were also responsible to check all the weights and measures.

Отвечали они за священные хлебы, которые складывались в две стопки, муку для хлебных приношений, за пресные лепешки, жареные лепешки, замесы теста и за все меры объема и веса.

And each morning and evening they stood before the LORD to sing songs of thanks and praise to him.

Каждое утро и каждый вечер они должны были быть6 в Храме, чтобы благодарить и славить ГОСПОДА.

They assisted with the burnt offerings that were presented to the LORD on Sabbath days, at new moon celebrations, and at all the appointed festivals. The required number of Levites served in the LORD’s presence at all times, following all the procedures they had been given.

Они отвечали за все всесожжения, совершаемые для ГОСПОДА по субботам, в новолуние и в остальные праздники, чтобы совершались они пред ГОСПОДОМ постоянно, сколько указано, согласно предписаниям.

And so, under the supervision of the priests, the Levites watched over the Tabernacle and the Templec and faithfully carried out their duties of service at the house of the LORD.

Они несли стражу у Шатра Откровения, охраняли святыни, прислуживали потомкам Аарона, их собратьям, в служении в Храме ГОСПОДНЕМ.
