Павал, слуга Божы, апостал жа Ісуса Хрыста, паводле веры выбраных Божых і пазнаньня праўды паводле пабожнасьці,

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness —

у надзеі жыцьця вечнага, якое абяцаў Бог, Які не падманвае, перад адвечнымі часамі,

in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,

а ў свой час зьявіў слова Сваё ў пропаведзі, якое было даверана мне паводле загаду Збаўцы нашага, Бога, —

and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

Ціту, шчыраму дзіцяці ў супольнай веры: ласка, літасьць, супакой ад Бога Айца і Госпада Ісуса Хрыста, Збаўцы нашага.

To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Я пакінуў цябе ў Крыце дзеля таго, каб ты ўпарадкаваў, дзе чаго не хапае, і паставіў у гарадах старостаў, як я табе загадаў:

The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appointa elders in every town, as I directed you.

калі хто бездакорны, муж аднае жонкі, дзяцей мае верных, якіх не абвінавачваюць за распусту або непакорлівасьць.

An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believeb and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Бо епіскап мусіць быць бездакорны, як Божы аканом, не самалюбны, не гняўлівы, ня п’яніца, не задзірлівы, ня сквапны,

Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless — not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.

але гасьцінны, дабралюбны, цьвярозы, праведны, багабойны, паўстрымлівы,

Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

які трымаецца вернага слова згодна з вучэньнем, каб мог і настаўляць у здаровым вучэньні, і дакараць тых, якія працівяцца.

He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

Бо ёсьць шмат і непакорлівых, і пустаслоўных, і ашуканцаў, асабліва з абрэзаных,

For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.

якім трэба закрываць вусны; яны цэлыя дамы руйнуюць, навучаючы, чаго ня сьлед, дзеля агіднага набытку.

They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach — and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

Сказаў нехта з іх, уласны іхні прарок: «Крыцяне заўсёды хлусяць, зьвяры ліхія, жываты гультайскія».

One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”c

Сьведчаньне гэтае праўдзівае. Дзеля гэтае прычыны дакарай іх сувора, каб былі здаровыя ў веры,

This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith

не зважаючы на юдэйскія байкі і прыказаньні людзей, якія адварочваюцца ад праўды.

and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.

Для чыстых усё чыста, а для апаганеных і бязьверных няма нічога чыстага, але апаганены і розум іхні, і сумленьне.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Яны кажуць, што ведаюць Бога, а ўчынкамі адракаюцца, [яны —] брыдотныя і непакорныя, і на ўсякую добрую справу няздольныя.

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
