Паўла, паслугач Божы і Апостал Ісуса Хрыста паводле веры выбраннікаў Божых і пазнання праўды, што вядзе да пабожнасці,

Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness —

у надзеі жыцця вечнага, якое абяцаў спрадвеку Бог, Які не падманвае,

in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time,

і аб’явіў у свой час Сваё слова ў пропаведзі, якая даверана мне па загаду Бога, Збаўцы нашага,

and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior,

Ціту, сапраўднаму сыну ў супольнай веры: ласка, міласць і супакой ад Бога Айца і Госпада Ісуса Хрыста, Збаўцы нашага.

To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Дзеля таго пакінуў я цябе на Крыце, каб ты ўсе неўпарадкаваныя справы наладзіў і каб паставіў у гарадах старэйшых, як я табе загадаў:

The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appointa elders in every town, as I directed you.

калі хто без заганы, муж аднае жонкі, мае веруючых дзяцей, не вінавачаных у распусце або непаслухмянасці.

An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believeb and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Належыць бо, каб епіскап быў беззаганны як распарадчык Божы, не горды, не гняўлівы, не п’яніца, не задзіра, не сквапны да ліхой карысці,

Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless — not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain.

але гасцінны, ласкавы, сумленны, справядлівы, пабожны, уздзержлівы,

Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

які трымаецца праўдзівага слова паводле навукі, вернай слову, каб быў моцны і настаўляў у здаровым навучанні і дакараў тых, што кажуць супраць.

He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

Бо ёсць таксама шмат непаслухмяных, пустаслоўных ды спакуснікаў, асабліва з абрэзаных,

For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.

каторым трэба закрываць рот, бо яны ўсе дамы разбураюць, навучаючы таму, што не належыць, дзеля ліхой карысці.

They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach — and that for the sake of dishonest gain.

Сказаў жа адзін з іх, уласны іх прарок: «Крыцяне заўжды хлусяць, лютыя звяры, гультайскія жываты».

One of Crete’s own prophets has said it: “Cretans are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”c

Сведчанне гэтае праўдзівае. Таму дакарай іх строга, каб трывалі ў здаровай веры,

This saying is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, so that they will be sound in the faith

не звяртаючы ўвагі на юдэйскія байкі ці на выказванні людзей, якія адварочваюцца ад праўды.

and will pay no attention to Jewish myths or to the merely human commands of those who reject the truth.

Для чыстых усё чыстае. Спаганеным жа і няверуючым нічога няма чыстага, але забруджаны іх думкі і сумленне.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Кажуць, што ведаюць Бога, а дзейнасцю сваёй пярэчаць, бо абрыдныя яны і непаслухмяныя, да ніякай добрай справы няздатныя.

They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
