Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days.

Отпуска́й хлеб твой по во́дам, потому́ что по проше́ствии мно́гих дней опя́ть найдёшь его́.

Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what disaster may happen on earth.

Дава́й часть семи́ и да́же восьми́, потому́ что не зна́ешь, кака́я беда́ бу́дет на земле́.

If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth, and if a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie.

Когда́ облака́ бу́дут полны́, то они́ пролью́т на зе́млю дождь; и е́сли упадёт де́рево на юг и́ли на се́вер, то оно́ там и оста́нется, куда́ упадёт.

He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.

Кто наблюда́ет ве́тер, тому́ не се́ять; и кто смо́трит на облака́, тому́ не жать.

As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womba of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.

Как ты не зна́ешь путе́й ве́тра и того́, как образу́ются ко́сти во чре́ве бере́менной, так не мо́жешь знать де́ло Бо́га, Кото́рый де́лает всё.

In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.

У́тром сей се́мя твоё, и ве́чером не дава́й о́тдыха руке́ твое́й, потому́ что ты не зна́ешь, то и́ли друго́е бу́дет уда́чнее, и́ли то и друго́е ра́вно хорошо́ бу́дет.

Light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun.

Сла́док свет, и прия́тно для глаз ви́деть со́лнце.

So if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember that the days of darkness will be many. All that comes is vanity.b

Е́сли челове́к проживёт и мно́го лет, то пусть весели́тся он в продолже́ние всех их, и пусть по́мнит о днях тёмных, кото́рых бу́дет мно́го: всё, что бу́дет, — суета́!

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

Весели́сь, ю́ноша, в ю́ности твое́й, и да вкуша́ет се́рдце твоё ра́дости во дни ю́ности твое́й, и ходи́ по путя́м се́рдца твоего́ и по ви́дению оче́й твои́х; то́лько знай, что за всё э́то Бог приведёт тебя́ на суд.

Remove vexation from your heart, and put away painc from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.

И удаля́й печа́ль от се́рдца твоего́, и уклоня́й зло́е от те́ла твоего́, потому́ что де́тство и ю́ность — суета́.
