Па́ѵелъ и҆ сїлѹа́нъ и҆ тїмоѳе́й цр҃кви солѹ́нстѣй ѡ҆ бз҃ѣ ѻ҆ц҃ѣ̀ и҆ гд҇ѣ ї҆и҃сѣ хр҇тѣ̀: блгдть ва́мъ и҆ ми́ръ ѿ бг҃а ѻ҆ц҃а̀ на́шегѡ и҆ гд҇а ї҆и҃са хр҇та̀.

This letter is from Paul, Silas,a and Timothy. We are writing to the church in Thessalonica, to you who belong to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May God give you grace and peace.The Faith of the Thessalonian Believers2

Благодари́мъ бг҃а всегда̀ ѡ҆ всѣ́хъ ва́съ, помина́нїе ѡ҆ ва́съ творѧ́ще въ моли́твахъ на́шихъ,

As we pray to our God and Father about you, we think of your faithful work, your loving deeds, and the enduring hope you have because of our Lord Jesus Christ.

непреста́ннѡ помина́юще ва́ше дѣ́ло вѣ́ры, и҆ трѹ́дъ любвѐ, и҆ терпѣ́нїе ѹ҆пова́нїѧ гд҇а на́шегѡ ї҆и҃са хр҇та̀, пред̾ бг҃омъ и҆ ѻ҆ц҃е́мъ на́шимъ,

We know, dear brothers and sisters,b that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people.

вѣ́дѧще, бра́тїе возлю́бленнаѧ, ѿ бг҃а и҆збра́нїе ва́ше:

For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurancec that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you.

ѩ҆́кѡ бл҃говѣствова́нїе на́ше не бы́сть къ ва́мъ въ сло́вѣ то́чїю, но и҆ въ си́лѣ, и҆ въ дс҃ѣ ст҃ѣ, и҆ во и҆звѣще́нїи мно́зѣ, ѩ҆́коже и҆ вѣ́сте, каковѝ бы́хомъ въ ва́съ ра́ди ва́съ.

So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you. In this way, you imitated both us and the Lord.

(За҄ 263.) И҆ вы̀ подѡ́бницы бы́сте на́мъ и҆ гд҇ѹ, прїе́мше сло́во въ ско́рби мно́зѣ съ ра́достїю дх҃а ст҃а́гѡ,

As a result, you have become an example to all the believers in Greece — throughout both Macedonia and Achaia.d

ѩ҆́кѡ бы́ти ва́мъ ѡ҆́бразъ всѣ҄мъ вѣ́рѹющымъ въ македо́нїи и҆ а҆ха́їи.

And now the word of the Lord is ringing out from you to people everywhere, even beyond Macedonia and Achaia, for wherever we go we find people telling us about your faith in God. We don’t need to tell them about it,

Ѿ ва́съ бо промче́сѧ сло́во гд҇не не то́кмѡ въ македо́нїи и҆ а҆ха́їи, но и҆ во всѧ́ко мѣ́сто вѣ́ра ва́ша, ѩ҆́же къ бг҃ѹ, и҆зы́де, ѩ҆́кѡ не тре́бовати на́мъ глаго́лати что̀.

for they keep talking about the wonderful welcome you gave us and how you turned away from idols to serve the living and true God.

Ті́и бо ѡ҆ на́съ возвѣща́ютъ, како́въ вхо́дъ и҆мѣ́хомъ къ ва́мъ, и҆ ка́кѡ ѡ҆брати́стесѧ къ бг҃ѹ ѿ їдѡлъ, рабо́тати бг҃ѹ жи́вѹ и҆ и҆́стиннѹ

And they speak of how you are looking forward to the coming of God’s Son from heaven — Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment.

и҆ жда́ти сн҃а є҆гѡ̀ съ нб҃съ, є҆го́же воскр҃сѝ и҆з̾ ме́ртвыхъ, ї҆и҃са, и҆збавлѧ́ющаго на́съ ѿ гнѣ́ва грѧдѹ́щагѡ.
