And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.

И отпра́вились сыны́ Изра́илевы, и останови́лись на равни́нах Моа́ва, при Иорда́не, про́тив Иерихо́на.

And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.

И ви́дел Вала́к, сын Сепфо́ров, всё, что сде́лал Изра́иль Аморре́ям;

And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.

и весьма́ боя́лись Моавитя́не наро́да сего́, потому́ что он был многочи́слен; и устраши́лись Моавитя́не сыно́в Изра́илевых.

And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.

И сказа́ли Моавитя́не старе́йшинам Мадиа́мским: э́тот наро́д поеда́ет тепе́рь всё вокру́г нас, как вол поеда́ет траву́ полеву́ю. Вала́к же, сын Сепфо́ров, был царём Моавитя́н в то вре́мя.

He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

И посла́л он посло́в к Валаа́му, сы́ну Вео́рову, в Пефо́р, кото́рый на реке́ Евфра́те, в земле́ сыно́в наро́да его́, что́бы позва́ть его́ и сказа́ть: вот, наро́д вы́шел из Еги́пта и покры́л лицо́ земли́, и живёт он по́дле меня́;

Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

ита́к, приди́, прокляни́ мне наро́д сей, и́бо он сильне́е меня́: мо́жет быть, я тогда́ бу́ду в состоя́нии порази́ть его́ и вы́гнать его́ из земли́; я зна́ю, что кого́ ты благослови́шь, тот благослове́н, и кого́ ты проклянёшь, тот про́клят.

And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.

И пошли́ старе́йшины Моави́тские и старе́йшины Мадиа́мские, с пода́рками в рука́х за волхвова́ние, и пришли́ к Валаа́му, и пересказа́ли ему́ слова́ Вала́ковы.

And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

И сказа́л он им: переночу́йте здесь ночь, и дам вам отве́т, как ска́жет мне Госпо́дь. И оста́лись старе́йшины Моави́тские у Валаа́ма.

And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

И пришёл Бог к Валаа́му, и сказа́л: каки́е э́то лю́ди у тебя́?

And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,

Валаа́м сказа́л Бо́гу: Вала́к, сын Сепфо́ров, царь Моави́тский, присла́л их ко мне сказа́ть:

Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.

вот, наро́д вы́шел из Еги́пта и покры́л лицо́ земли́; ита́к, приди́, прокляни́ мне его́; мо́жет быть, я тогда́ бу́ду в состоя́нии срази́ться с ним и вы́гнать его́.

And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

И сказа́л Бог Валаа́му: не ходи́ с ни́ми, не проклина́й наро́да сего́, и́бо он благослове́н.

And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.

И встал Валаа́м поутру́, и сказа́л князья́м Вала́ковым: пойди́те в зе́млю ва́шу, и́бо не хо́чет Госпо́дь позво́лить мне идти́ с ва́ми.

And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.

И вста́ли князья́ Моави́тские, и пришли́ к Вала́ку, и сказа́ли ему́: не согласи́лся Валаа́м идти́ с на́ми.

And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they.

Вала́к посла́л ещё князе́й, бо́лее и знамени́тее тех.

And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:

И пришли́ они́ к Валаа́му, и сказа́ли ему́: так говори́т Вала́к, сын Сепфо́ров: не откажи́сь прийти́ ко мне;

For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

я окажу́ тебе́ вели́кую по́честь и сде́лаю тебе́ всё, что ни ска́жешь мне; приди́ же, прокляни́ мне наро́д сей.

And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.

И отвеча́л Валаа́м, и сказа́л раба́м Вала́ковым: хотя́ бы Вала́к дава́л мне по́лный свой дом серебра́ и зо́лота, не могу́ преступи́ть повеле́ния Го́спода, Бо́га моего́, и сде́лать что-ли́бо ма́лое и́ли вели́кое по своему́ произво́лу;

Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.

впро́чем, оста́ньтесь здесь и вы на ночь, и я узна́ю, что ещё ска́жет мне Госпо́дь.

And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.

И пришёл Бог к Валаа́му но́чью, и сказа́л ему́: е́сли лю́ди сии́ пришли́ звать тебя́, встань, пойди́ с ни́ми; но то́лько де́лай то, что Я бу́ду говори́ть тебе́.

And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.

Валаа́м встал поутру́, оседла́л осли́цу свою́ и пошёл с князья́ми Моави́тскими.

And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

И воспыла́л гнев Бо́жий за то, что он пошёл, и стал А́нгел Госпо́день на доро́ге, что́бы воспрепя́тствовать ему́. Он е́хал на осли́це свое́й, и с ним дво́е слуг его́.

And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

И уви́дела осли́ца А́нгела Госпо́дня, стоя́щего на доро́ге с обнажённым мечо́м в руке́, и свороти́ла осли́ца с доро́ги, и пошла́ на по́ле; а Валаа́м стал бить осли́цу, что́бы возврати́ть её на доро́гу.

But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.

И стал А́нгел Госпо́день на у́зкой доро́ге, ме́жду виногра́дниками, где с одно́й стороны́ стена́ и с друго́й стороны́ стена́.

And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.

Осли́ца, уви́дев А́нгела Госпо́дня, прижа́лась к стене́ и прижа́ла но́гу Валаа́мову к стене́; и он опя́ть стал бить её.

And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

А́нгел Госпо́день опя́ть перешёл и стал в те́сном ме́сте, где не́куда свороти́ть, ни напра́во, ни нале́во.

And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.

Осли́ца, уви́дев А́нгела Госпо́дня, легла́ под Валаа́мом. И воспыла́л гнев Валаа́ма, и стал он бить осли́цу па́лкою.

And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

И отве́рз Госпо́дь уста́ осли́цы, и она́ сказа́ла Валаа́му: что я тебе́ сде́лала, что ты бьёшь меня́ вот уже́ тре́тий раз?

And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.

Валаа́м сказа́л осли́це: за то, что ты поруга́лась на́до мно́ю; е́сли бы у меня́ в руке́ был меч, то я тепе́рь же уби́л бы тебя́.

And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.

Осли́ца же сказа́ла Валаа́му: не я́ ли твоя́ осли́ца, на кото́рой ты е́здил с нача́ла до сего́ дня? име́ла ли я привы́чку так поступа́ть с тобо́ю? Он сказа́л: нет.

Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.

И откры́л Госпо́дь глаза́ Валаа́му, и уви́дел он А́нгела Госпо́дня, стоя́щего на доро́ге с обнажённым мечо́м в руке́, и преклони́лся, и пал на лицо́ своё.

And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:

И сказа́л ему́ А́нгел Госпо́день: за что ты бил осли́цу твою́ вот уже́ три ра́за? Я вы́шел, что́бы воспрепя́тствовать тебе́, потому́ что путь твой не прав пре́до Мно́ю;

And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.

и осли́ца, ви́дев Меня́, свороти́ла от Меня́ вот уже́ три ра́за; е́сли бы она́ не свороти́ла от Меня́, то Я уби́л бы тебя́, а её оста́вил бы живо́ю.

And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.

И сказа́л Валаа́м А́нгелу Госпо́дню: согреши́л я, и́бо не знал, что Ты стои́шь про́тив меня́ на доро́ге; ита́к, е́сли э́то неприя́тно в оча́х Твои́х, то я возвращу́сь.

And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

И сказа́л А́нгел Госпо́день Валаа́му: пойди́ с людьми́ си́ми, то́лько говори́ то, что Я бу́ду говори́ть тебе́. И пошёл Валаа́м с князья́ми Вала́ковыми.

And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.

Вала́к, услы́шав, что идёт Валаа́м, вы́шел навстре́чу ему́ в го́род Моави́тский, кото́рый на грани́це при Арно́не, что у са́мого преде́ла.

And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?

И сказа́л Вала́к Валаа́му: не посыла́л ли я к тебе́, звать тебя́? почему́ ты не шёл ко мне? неуже́ли я в са́мом де́ле не могу́ почти́ть тебя́?

And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.

И сказа́л Валаа́м Вала́ку: вот, я и пришёл к тебе́, но могу́ ли я что от себя́ сказа́ть? что вло́жит Бог в уста́ мои́, то и бу́ду говори́ть.

And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth.

И пошёл Валаа́м с Вала́ком, и пришли́ в Кириа́ф-Хуцо́ф.

And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.

И заколо́л Вала́к воло́в и ове́ц, и посла́л к Валаа́му и князья́м, кото́рые бы́ли с ним.

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.

На друго́й день у́тром Вала́к взял Валаа́ма и возвёл его́ на высо́ты Ваа́ловы, что́бы он уви́дел отту́да часть наро́да.
