Старшы — улюбленаму Гаю, каторага я люблю запраўды.

The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.

Умілаваны! Малюся, каб ты быў здароў і пасьпяваў ува ўсім, як пасьпявае душа твая.

Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.

Бо я дужа ўце́шыўся, калі прыйшлі браты і засьве́дчылі тваю праўду, як ты ходзіш у праўдзе.

For I rejoiced greatly when the brothersa came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth.

Для мяне́ няма большай радасьці, як чуць, што дзе́ці мае́ ходзяць у праўдзе.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

Улюблены! ты робіш ве́рнае, што робіш для братоў і для чужакоў,

Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for these brothers, strangers as they are,

якія засьве́дчылі перад царквою тваю любоў; ты добра зробіш, калі адправіш іх, як трэба дзеля Бога,

who testified to your love before the church. You will do well to send them on their journey in a manner worthy of God.

бо яны дзеля іме́ньня Яго пайшлі, ня ўзяўшы нічога ад паганаў.

For they have gone out for the sake of the name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles.

Дык мы павінны прымаць гэтакіх, каб стацца супрацоўнікамі праўдзе.

Therefore we ought to support people like these, that we may be fellow workers for the truth.

Я напісаў царкве́; але Дыатрэф, што любіць у іх старшынстваваць, ня прымае нас.

I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority.

Дзеля гэтага, калі я прыду, то напомню пра ўчынкі, якія ён робіць, абмаўляючы нас благімі словамі; і, не здаволіваючыся гэтым, і сам ня прымае братоў, і не дае хочучым ды выганяе з царквы.

So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us. And not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers, and also stops those who want to and puts them out of the church.

Улюблены! не патурай ліху, але дабру. Хто робіць дабро, той ад Бога; а хто робіць зло, ня бачыў Бога.

Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.

Пра Зьмітра засьве́дчана ўсімі і самой праўдаю; сьве́дчым таксама і мы, і вы ве́даеце, што пасьве́дчаньне нашае праўдзівае.

Demetrius has received a good testimony from everyone, and from the truth itself. We also add our testimony, and you know that our testimony is true.

Шмат ме́ў я пісаць; але не хачу пісаць да цябе́ чарніламі і трысьцінай,

I had much to write to you, but I would rather not write with pen and ink.

але спадзяюся борзда пабачыць цябе́ і пагутарыць вуснамі ў вусны.

I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face. [15] Peace be to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends, each by name.

Мір табе́! Вітаюць цябе́ сябры; прывітай сяброў паіме́нна.
