There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and this man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God and abstained from evil.

Был челове́к в земле́ Уц, и́мя его́ Ио́в; и был челове́к э́тот непоро́чен, справедли́в и богобоя́знен и удаля́лся от зла.

And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters.

И роди́лись у него́ семь сынове́й и три до́чери.

And his substance was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she-asses, and very many servants; and this man was greater than all the children of the east.

Име́ния у него́ бы́ло: семь ты́сяч ме́лкого скота́, три ты́сячи верблю́дов, пятьсо́т пар воло́в и пятьсо́т осли́ц и весьма́ мно́го прислу́ги; и был челове́к э́тот знамени́тее всех сыно́в Восто́ка.

And his sons went and made a feast in the house of each one on his day; and they sent and invited their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

Сыновья́ его́ сходи́лись, де́лая пиры́ ка́ждый в своём до́ме в свой день, и посыла́ли и приглаша́ли трёх сестёр свои́х есть и пить с ни́ми.

And it was so, when the days of the feasting were gone about, that Job sent and hallowed them; and he rose up early in the morning, and offered up burnt-offerings [according to] the number of them all; for Job said, It may be that my children have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

Когда́ круг пи́ршественных дней соверша́лся, Ио́в посыла́л за ни́ми и освяща́л их и, встава́я ра́но у́тром, возноси́л всесожже́ния по числу́ всех их. И́бо говори́л Ио́в: мо́жет быть, сыновья́ мои́ согреши́ли и похули́ли Бо́га в се́рдце своём. Так де́лал Ио́в во все таки́е дни.

And there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah; and Satan came also among them.

И был день, когда́ пришли́ сыны́ Бо́жии предста́ть пред Го́спода; ме́жду ни́ми пришёл и сатана́.

And Jehovah said to Satan, Whence comest thou? And Satan answered Jehovah and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

И сказа́л Госпо́дь сатане́: отку́да ты пришёл? И отвеча́л сатана́ Го́споду и сказа́л: я ходи́л по земле́ и обошёл её.

And Jehovah said to Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God and abstaineth from evil?

И сказа́л Госпо́дь сатане́: обрати́л ли ты внима́ние твоё на раба́ Моего́ Ио́ва? и́бо нет тако́го, как он, на земле́: челове́к непоро́чный, справедли́вый, богобоя́зненный и удаля́ющийся от зла.

And Satan answered Jehovah and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

И отвеча́л сатана́ Го́споду и сказа́л: ра́зве да́ром богобоя́знен Ио́в?

Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is spread abroad in the land.

Не Ты ли круго́м огради́л его́ и дом его́ и всё, что у него́? Де́ло рук его́ Ты благослови́л, и стада́ его́ распространя́ются по земле́;

But put forth thy hand now and touch all that he hath, [and see] if he will not curse thee to thy face!

но простри́ ру́ку Твою́ и косни́сь всего́, что у него́, — благослови́т ли он Тебя́?

And Jehovah said to Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy hand; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of Jehovah.

И сказа́л Госпо́дь сатане́: вот, всё, что у него́, в руке́ твое́й; то́лько на него́ не простира́й руки́ твое́й. И отошёл сатана́ от лица́ Госпо́дня.

And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn.

И был день, когда́ сыновья́ его́ и до́чери его́ е́ли и вино́ пи́ли в до́ме перворо́дного бра́та своего́.

And there came a messenger to Job and said, The oxen were ploughing, and the asses feeding beside them;

И вот, прихо́дит ве́стник к Ио́ву и говори́т:

and [they of] Sheba fell [upon them] and took them, and the servants have they smitten with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.

волы́ ора́ли, и осли́цы пасли́сь по́дле них, как напа́ли Савея́не и взя́ли их, а о́троков порази́ли остриём меча́; и спа́сся то́лько я оди́н, что́бы возвести́ть тебе́.

While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.

Ещё он говори́л, как прихо́дит друго́й и ска́зывает: ого́нь Бо́жий упа́л с не́ба и опали́л ове́ц и о́троков и пожра́л их; и спа́сся то́лько я оди́н, что́бы возвести́ть тебе́.

While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, The Chaldeans made three bands, and fell upon the camels and took them, and the servants have they smitten with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.

Ещё он говори́л, как прихо́дит друго́й и ска́зывает: Халде́и расположи́лись тремя́ отря́дами и бро́сились на верблю́дов и взя́ли их, а о́троков порази́ли остриём меча́; и спа́сся то́лько я оди́н, что́бы возвести́ть тебе́.

While he was yet speaking, there came another and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn;

Ещё э́тот говори́л, прихо́дит друго́й и ска́зывает: сыновья́ твои́ и до́чери твои́ е́ли и вино́ пи́ли в до́ме перворо́дного бра́та своего́;

and behold, there came a great wind from over the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they died; and I only am escaped, alone, to tell thee.

и вот, большо́й ве́тер пришёл от пусты́ни и охвати́л четы́ре угла́ до́ма, и дом упа́л на о́троков, и они́ у́мерли; и спа́сся то́лько я оди́н, что́бы возвести́ть тебе́.

And Job rose up, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down on the ground, and worshipped;

Тогда́ Ио́в встал и разодра́л ве́рхнюю оде́жду свою́, остри́г го́лову свою́ и пал на зе́млю и поклони́лся

and he said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: Jehovah gave, and Jehovah hath taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah!

и сказа́л: наг я вы́шел из чре́ва ма́тери мое́й, наг и возвращу́сь. Госпо́дь дал, Госпо́дь и взял; да бу́дет и́мя Госпо́дне благослове́нно!

In all this Job sinned not, nor ascribed anything unseemly to God.

Во всём э́том не согреши́л Ио́в и не произнёс ничего́ неразу́много о Бо́ге.
