In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

На початку Бог створив небо та землю.

The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Земля ж була непримітна і невпорядкована; над безоднею лежала темрява, а Дух Божий ширяв над водою.

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

І сказав Бог: Нехай буде світло! І постало світло.

And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness.

Побачив Бог світло, що це добре, і відділив Бог світло від темряви.

God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

Бог назвав світло днем, а темряву назвав ніччю. І був вечір, і настав ранок — день перший.

And God said, “Let there be an expansea in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”

І сказав Бог: Нехай буде небозвід посеред води, щоби був поділ між водою і водою! І сталося так.

And God madeb the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so.

І створив Бог небозвід, і відокремив Бог воду, яка була під небозводом, і воду, що над небозводом.

And God called the expanse Heaven.c And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.

Бог назвав небозвід небом. І побачив Бог, що це добре. І був вечір, і настав ранок — день другий.

And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.

І сказав Бог: Нехай збереться вода, що під небом, в одне водоймище, і нехай з’явиться суша! І сталося так. І зібралася вода, що під небом, у свої водоймища, і показалася суша.

God called the dry land Earth,d and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.

Бог назвав сушу землею, а зібрані разом води назвав морями. І побачив Бог, що це добре.

And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plantse yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so.

І сказав Бог: Нехай зростить земля лугові трави, що розсівають насіння, — за родом і за подобою, — і плодові дерева, що приносять плоди, в яких міститься їхнє насіння, — за родом на землі! І сталося так.

The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

І видала земля лугові трави, що розсівають насіння, — за родом і за подобою, — і плодові дерева, що приносять плоди, в яких міститься їхнє насіння, — за родом на землі. І побачив Бог, що це добре.

And there was evening and there was morning, the third day.

І був вечір, і настав ранок — день третій.

And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons,f and for days and years,

І сказав Бог: Хай постануть світила на небозводі, щоб освітлювати землю і розрізняти день від ночі; і хай будуть як знаки, що визначають пори, дні та роки,

and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.” And it was so.

і хай будуть вони світилами на небозводі, щоб освітлювати землю! І сталося так.

And God made the two great lights — the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night — and the stars.

Бог створив два великих світила: більше світило — щоб управляти днем, а менше світило — щоб управляти ніччю, і зорі.

And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

І Бог помістив їх на небозводі, щоб світили на землю,

to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

управляли днем і ніччю та розділяли світло від темряви. І побачив Бог, що це добре.

And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

І був вечір, і настав ранок — день четвертий.

And God said, “Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birdsg fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.”

І сказав Бог: Нехай виведе вода плазунів, живі душі, та птахів, які літають над землею по небозводі! І сталося так.

So God created the great sea creatures and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarm, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Бог створив величезних морських істот, і кожну душу живих плазунів, котрих вивели води, — за їхнім родом, і всяких крилатих птахів — за родом. І побачив Бог, що це добре.

And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”

Бог поблагословив їх, кажучи: Зростайте і розмножуйтеся, наповняйте води в морях, а птахи хай розмножуються на землі.

And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day.

І був вечір, і настав ранок — день п’ятий.

And God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures according to their kinds — livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth according to their kinds.” And it was so.

І сказав Бог: Нехай виведе земля душу живу — за родом; чотириногих, плазунів і звірів землі — за родом! І сталося так.

And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the livestock according to their kinds, and everything that creeps on the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

Бог створив земних звірів — за родом, і худобу — за родом, і всіх плазунів землі — за своїм родом. І побачив Бог, що це добре.

Then God said, “Let us make manh in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

І сказав Бог: Створімо людину за Нашим образом і подобою, — і хай панують над рибами морськими, птахами небесними, худобою, над усією землею й усіма плазунами, які повзають по землі.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

І створив Бог людину — за Божим образом створив її; Він створив їх чоловіком і жінкою.

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Бог поблагословив їх, кажучи: Зростайте і розмножуйтеся, наповніть землю і володійте нею, пануйте над рибами морськими і птахами небесними, усією худобою, усією землею й усіма плазунами, які повзають по землі.

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.

І сказав Бог: Ось дав Я вам усякі посівні трави, що розсівають насіння, — які по всій землі, та всяке дерево, що має в собі плід з насінням для посіву, — це вам буде для їжі,

And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.

і всім звірам землі, і всім небесним птахам, і кожному плазунові, який повзає по землі, який має в собі душу життя, — усяку зелену рослинність — як їжу. І сталося так.

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

І поглянув Бог на все те, що створив, — і ось воно дуже добре. І був вечір, і настав ранок — день шостий.
