The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,

Den ersten Bericht habe ich gegeben, lieber Theophilus, von all dem, was Jesus von Anfang an tat und lehrte

Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

bis zu dem Tag, an dem er aufgenommen wurde, nachdem er den Aposteln, die er erwählt hatte, durch den heiligen Geist Weisung gegeben hatte.

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:

Ihnen zeigte er sich nach seinem Leiden durch viele Beweise als der Lebendige und ließ sich sehen unter ihnen vierzig Tage lang und redete mit ihnen vom Reich Gottes.

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

Und als er mit ihnen zusammen war, befahl er ihnen, Jerusalem nicht zu verlassen, sondern zu warten auf die Verheißung des Vaters, die ihr, so sprach er, von mir gehört habt;

For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

denn Johannes hat mit Wasser getauft, ihr aber sollt mit dem heiligen Geist getauft werden nicht lange nach diesen Tagen.

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

Die nun zusammengekommen waren, fragten ihn und sprachen: Herr, wirst du in dieser Zeit wieder aufrichten das Reich für Israel?

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.

Er sprach aber zu ihnen: Es gebührt euch nicht, Zeit oder Stunde zu wissen, die der Vater in seiner Macht bestimmt hat;

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

aber ihr werdet die Kraft des heiligen Geistes empfangen, der auf euch kommen wird, und werdet meine Zeugen sein in Jerusalem und in ganz Judäa und Samarien und bis an das Ende der Erde.

And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Und als er das gesagt hatte, wurde er zusehends aufgehoben, und eine Wolke nahm ihn auf vor ihren Augen weg.

And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Und als sie ihm nachsahen, wie er gen Himmel fuhr, siehe, da standen bei ihnen zwei Männer in weißen Gewändern.

Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Die sagten: Ihr Männer von Galiläa, was steht ihr da und seht zum Himmel? Dieser Jesus, der von euch weg gen Himmel aufgenommen wurde, wird so wiederkommen, wie ihr ihn habt gen Himmel fahren sehen.

Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.

Da kehrten sie nach Jerusalem zurück von dem Berg, der heißt Ölberg und liegt nahe bei Jerusalem, einen Sabbatweg entfernt.

And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James.

Und als sie hineinkamen, stiegen sie hinauf in das Obergemach des Hauses, wo sie sich aufzuhalten pflegten: Petrus, Johannes, Jakobus und Andreas, Philippus und Thomas, Bartholomäus und Matthäus, Jakobus, der Sohn des Alphäus, und Simon der Zelot und Judas, der Sohn des Jakobus.

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

Diese alle waren stets beieinander einmütig im Gebet samt den Frauen und Maria, der Mutter Jesu, und seinen Brüdern.

And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

Und in den Tagen trat Petrus auf unter den Brüdern - es war aber eine Menge beisammen von etwa hundertzwanzig - und sprach:

Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

Ihr Männer und Brüder, es mußte das Wort der Schrift erfüllt werden, das der heilige Geist durch den Mund Davids vorausgesagt hat über Judas, der denen den Weg zeigte, die Jesus gefangennahmen;

For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

denn er gehörte zu uns und hatte dieses Amt mit uns empfangen.

Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

Der hat einen Acker erworben mit dem Lohn für seine Ungerechtigkeit. Aber er ist vornüber gestürzt und mitten entzwei geborsten, so daß alle seine Eingeweide hervorquollen.

And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.

Und es ist allen bekannt geworden, die in Jerusalem wohnen, so daß dieser Acker in ihrer Sprache genannt wird: Hakeldamach, das heißt Blutacker.

For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

Denn es steht geschrieben im Psalmbuch (Psalm 69,26; 109,8): «Seine Behausung soll verwüstet werden, und niemand wohne darin», und: «Sein Amt empfange ein andrer.»

Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

So muß nun einer von diesen Männern, die bei uns gewesen sind die ganze Zeit über, als der Herr Jesus unter uns ein- und ausgegangen ist

Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

- von der Taufe des Johannes an bis zu dem Tag, an dem er von uns genommen wurde -, mit uns Zeuge seiner Auferstehung werden.

And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

Und sie stellten zwei auf: Josef, genannt Barsabbas, mit dem Beinamen Justus, und Matthias,

And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

und beteten und sprachen: Herr, der du aller Herzen kennst, zeige an, welchen du erwählt hast von diesen beiden,

That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

damit er diesen Dienst und das Apostelamt empfange, das Judas verlassen hat, um an den Ort zu gehen, wohin er gehört.

And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

Und sie warfen das Los über sie, und das Los fiel auf Matthias; und er wurde zugeordnet zu den elf Aposteln.
