В Вифлееме жил очень богатый человек по имени Вооз. Вооз был одним из близких родственников Ноемини, так как был родом из племени Елимелеха.

And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.

Однажды Руфь (моавитянка) сказала Ноемини: «Пойду-ка я на поле. Может, найдётся человек, который будет добр ко мне и позволит подбирать колосья, которые останутся на его поле».

And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.

Ноеминь сказала: «Хорошо, дочь моя, пойди». И пошла Руфь на поле. Она шла позади жнецов и подбирала колосья, которые они оставляли. Оказалось, что та часть поля принадлежала Воозу, человеку из племени Елимелеха.

And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.

Когда на поле из Вифлеема пришёл Вооз, он поприветствовал своих жнецов словами: «Господь с вами!» И жнецы ответили: «Да благословит тебя Господь!»

And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.

Затем Вооз спросил слугу, который отвечал за жнецов: «Чья это девушка?»

Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?

Слуга ответил: «Это та моавитянка, которая пришла с Ноеминью из страны Моавской.

And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:

Она пришла рано утром и попросила разрешения следовать за жнецами и подбирать колосья, оставленные на земле. Она работает с самого утра и до сих пор, и она очень мало отдыхала в укрытии».

And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.

И сказал Вооз Руфи: «Послушай, дитя моё. Ты можешь оставаться на моём поле и собирать колосья. Тебе не нужно идти на другие поля. Продолжай следовать за моими работницами.

Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

Следи за тем, на какое поле они идут, и следуй за ними. Я приказал слугам не беспокоить тебя. Когда ты захочешь пить, иди и пей из тех же кувшинов, из которых пьют мои слуги».

Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.

Руфь поклонилась Воозу до самой земли и сказала: «Я удивлена, что ты даже заметил меня. Ты очень добр ко мне, несмотря на то что я чужеземка».

Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?

Вооз ответил ей: «Я знаю о том, как ты отнеслась к своей свекрови Ноемини. Я знаю, что ты помогала ей даже после смерти твоего мужа. И знаю, что ты оставила и отца, и мать, и свою родину. Ты пришла с Ноеминью к народу, которого раньше не знала.

And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.

Господь, Бог Израиля, воздаст тебе за всё хорошее, что ты сделала, и ты будешь вознаграждена сполна Господом, Богом Израиля. Ты пришла к Нему искать покой, и Он защитит тебя».

The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

Тогда Руфь сказала: «Ты очень добр ко мне, господин. Я всего лишь слуга. Я даже не стою ни одной из твоих служанок, но ты сказал мне добрые слова и утешил меня».

Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.

Во время обеда Вооз сказал Руфи: «Подойди сюда! Поешь с нами!» Руфь села возле работников. Вооз дал ей немного жареных зёрен, и Руфь ела, пока не насытилась, и еды ещё оставалось немного.

And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.

Затем Руфь встала и вернулась к работе. Тогда Вооз приказал своим слугам: «Позвольте Руфи подбирать даже между снопами. Не останавливайте её

And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:

и бросайте на землю немного полных зерном колосьев, чтобы облегчить ей работу».

And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.

Руфь работала на поле до самого вечера. Затем она отделила зерно от шелухи, и оказалось там около ефы ячменя.

So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.

Руфь принесла собранное зерно в город и показала его свекрови, а потом отдала ей еду, которая осталась у неё после обеда.

And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.

Свекровь спросила её: «Где ты работала? Где ты собрала всё это зерно? Да будет благословен тот, кто заметил тебя». Тогда Руфь ответила: «Человека, у которого я сегодня работала, зовут Вооз». Услышав эти слова, Ноеминь воскликнула: «Да благословит Господь его за проявленную милость как к живым, так и к мёртвым!

And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man's name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.

Вооз — один из наших родственников и один из наших покровителей».

And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.

Затем Руфь сказала: «Вооз разрешил мне вернуться и продолжить работу. Он обещал мне, что я могу работать рядом с его служанками до конца жатвы».

And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.

Тогда Ноеминь сказала своей невестке: «Очень хорошо, что ты сможешь работать рядом с его служанками, потому что на другом поле тебя может кто-нибудь обидеть»

And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.

И Руфь продолжала работать рядом со служанками Вооза. Так она собирала зерно до самого конца жатвы ячменя и до самого конца жатвы пшеницы, живя у своей свекрови Ноемини.

So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
