Слушайте, что говорит Господь: «Встань, и пусть горы выслушают доводы твои, пусть холмы услышат твой рассказ.

Hear ye now what the LORD saith; Arise, contend thou before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice.

Слушайте, горы, обвинение Господа, слушайте и вы, вечные основы земли, потому что Господь выносит обвинение народу Своему. Он докажет Израиля вину!»

Hear ye, O mountains, the LORD'S controversy, and ye strong foundations of the earth: for the LORD hath a controversy with his people, and he will plead with Israel.

Господь говорит: «Народ Мой, что сделал Я против тебя? Неужели Я сделал твою жизнь невыносимой?

O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.

Я вывел тебя из Египта и освободил тебя из рабства. Я послал Моисея, чтобы возглавить тебя, а потом Аарона и Мариамь.

For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of servants; and I sent before thee Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

Народ Мой, чтобы познать праведные дела Господа, вспомни, что замышлял Валак, царь моавитян, и что ответил ему Валаам, сын Веора. Вспомни своё путешествие из Ситтима в Галгал».

O my people, remember now what Balak king of Moab consulted, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim unto Gilgal; that ye may know the righteousness of the LORD.

С чем приду я к Господу и склонюсь перед Всевышним? Предстать ли мне пред Ним с жертвами всесожжения и с однолетним бычком?

Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

Будет ли доволен Господь, если я принесу Ему тысячу баранов или десять тысяч рек оливкового масла? Должен ли я принести Ему своего первенца в искупление моих преступлений? Пожертвовать ли мне собственного ребёнка за мои грехи?

Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

Человек, Господь сказал тебе, что есть добро. Вот что Господь хочет от тебя: со справедливостью относись к другим, люби преданность и милосердие, а также живи в смиренной покорности пред Богом твоим. Вина Израиля и наказание

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Слушайте! Господь взывает к городу: «Мудрые чтят имя Господа, поэтому страшитесь кнута и Того, Кто наказывает им.

The LORD'S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.

Прячут ли до сих пор нечестивые награбленные сокровища? Обманывают ли они до сих пор людей, взвешивая товар в маленьких корзинах? Да, всё это ещё происходит!

Are there yet the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked, and the scant measure that is abominable?

Оправдать ли Мне людей, у которых в ходу неправильные весы и гири, чтобы обманывать людей?

Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?

Богачи в этом городе жестоки, а народ по-прежнему утопает во лжи и обмане.

For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

Поэтому и начал Я наказывать тебя, Я погублю тебя за твои грехи.

Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

Ты будешь есть, но не насытишься, и в желудке у тебя будет пусто. Ты в хранилищах соберёшь свой урожай, но армия, посланная Мной, уничтожит всё, что ты собрал.

Thou shalt eat, but not be satisfied; and thy casting down shall be in the midst of thee; and thou shalt take hold, but shalt not deliver; and that which thou deliverest will I give up to the sword.

Вы посеете, но не пожнёте, будете давить оливки, но не получите масла, станете выжимать из винограда сок, но не выпьете вина.

Thou shalt sow, but thou shalt not reap; thou shalt tread the olives, but thou shalt not anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not drink wine.

Вы повиновались законам Амврия, а также переняли все привычки и традиции семьи Ахава, и поэтому Я предам вас разрушению, а ваш народ — осмеянию, и понесёте вы презрение других народов. Люди будут присвистывать в недоумении, когда увидят ваши разрушенные города».

For the statutes of Omri are kept, and all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing: therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people.
