Вот почему я, Павел, стал узником Иисуса Христа ради вас, язычников.

When I think of all this, I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus for the benefit of you Gentilesa . . .

Вы, несомненно, знаете о благодати Божьей, промыслительно данной мне ради вас,

assuming, by the way, that you know God gave me the special responsibility of extending his grace to you Gentiles.

ибо мне в откровении была возвещена тайна, о чём я уже упоминал вкратце,

As I briefly wrote earlier, God himself revealed his mysterious plan to me.

и вы, читая об этом, можете постичь моё понимание тайны Христовой,

As you read what I have written, you will understand my insight into this plan regarding Christ.

которая в прежние времена хоть и была известна некоторым из сыновей человеческих, однако не так, как ныне открыта святым апостолам и пророкам Духом (Божьим),

God did not reveal it to previous generations, but now by his Spirit he has revealed it to his holy apostles and prophets.

и которая заключается в том, что язычники, (уверовав) в проповеданного им Христа Иисуса, могут стать вместе с нами членами того же тела, наследниками и причастниками обетования Его;

And this is God’s plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God’s children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.b

я же, получив дар благодати Божьей, действием могущества Его стал проповедником;

By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News.

именно мне наименее достойному из всех святых была дана эта благодать: проповедовать язычникам непостижимое величие Христа,

Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ.

и открыть всем тайну, прежде времени создания мира, промыслительно сокрытую в Боге. Сотворившем всё через Иисуса Христа

I was chosen to explain to everyonec this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning.

чтобы теперь и на небесах Начала и Власти чрез Церковь познали всё многообразие премудрости Божьей,

God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.

исполнившейся, согласно Его предвечному определению, в Иисусе Христе, Господе нашем.

This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Которому мы, веруя и уповая на Него, дерзаем обращаться (с молитвой).

Because of Christ and our faith in him,d we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

Вот почему я и прошу вас не впадать в отчаяние из-за того, что я претерпеваю муки за вас, ибо они слава ваша.

So please don’t lose heart because of my trials here. I am suffering for you, so you should feel honored.

Поэтому я коленопреклоненно молю Отца Господа нашего Иисуса Христа,

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,e

Которого как на небе, так и на земле все называют Отцом,

the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.f

чтобы Он, по избытку славы Своей, укрепил души ваши могуществом Духа Своего, даровав вам

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.

веру, чтобы вы, утверждаясь и возрастая в любви, приняли Христа в сердца ваши,

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

и вместе со всеми святыми могли постичь необъятное и неизмеримое величие

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.

превосходящей понимание любви Христа, а познав, исполниться всей полнотой (дарований) Божьих.

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Тому же, Кто действенным и всепревосходящим могуществом готов сделать для нас несравнимо больше того, о чём мы просим или даже можем помыслить,

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.

Тому слава в Церкви и во Христе Иисусе во все времена и во веки веков, аминь!

Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.
