King Nebuchadnezzar, To the nations and peoples of every language, who live in all the earth: May you prosper greatly!

«Я, Навуходоносор, находился в своём дворце, был счастлив и во всём преуспевал.

It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me.

Мне приснился сон, который испугал меня. Я лежал на кровати и мысленно видел образы и видения, которые заставили меня содрогнуться.

How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation.

Тогда я отдал приказ привести ко мне всех мудрецов Вавилона, чтобы они сказали мне, что означает мой сон.

I, Nebuchadnezzar, was at home in my palace, contented and prosperous.

Когда пришли чародеи и халдеи, я рассказал им о своём сне, но ни один из них не смог объяснить его значение.

I had a dream that made me afraid. As I was lying in bed, the images and visions that passed through my mind terrified me.

Наконец ко мне пришёл Даниил (я дал ему имя Валтасар в честь моего бога; в нём пребывает дух святых богов). Я рассказал Даниилу о своём сне.

So I commanded that all the wise men of Babylon be brought before me to interpret the dream for me.

Я сказал: „Валтасар, ты самый искусный из всех чародеев. Я знаю, что в тебе дух святых богов и нет такой тайны, которую ты не смог бы понять. Вот какой сон я видел, объясни мне его значение.

When the magicians, enchanters, astrologersa and diviners came, I told them the dream, but they could not interpret it for me.

Вот видения, представшие предо мной, когда я лежал на своём ложе: я видел очень высокое дерево, стоящее среди земли.

Finally, Daniel came into my presence and I told him the dream. (He is called Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him.)

Это дерево выросло большим и крепким и своей вершиной касалось неба. Его можно было видеть отовсюду на земле.

I said, “Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you, and no mystery is too difficult for you. Here is my dream; interpret it for me.

На этом дереве были красивые листья и много фруктов. Плодов на нём хватало для всех. Дикие звери находили приют под этим деревом, и птицы гнездились в его ветвях. Все животные питались с этого дерева.

These are the visions I saw while lying in bed: I looked, and there before me stood a tree in the middle of the land. Its height was enormous.

И, наблюдая всё это в видении на своём ложе, я увидел святого Ангела, сходящего с небес.

The tree grew large and strong and its top touched the sky; it was visible to the ends of the earth.

Он сказал очень громко: „Срубите дерево, обрубите его ветви, оборвите его листья и разбросайте его плоды. Животные убегут из-под дерева, и птицы улетят прочь с его ветвей.

Its leaves were beautiful, its fruit abundant, and on it was food for all. Under it the wild animals found shelter, and the birds lived in its branches; from it every creature was fed.

Но его корень пусть останется в земле. Вы должны сковать его железным и бронзовым обручем и пусть этот корень останется в поле. Окружённый со всех сторон травой, он будет жить среди диких животных и полевых растений, а орошать его будет утренняя роса.

“In the visions I saw while lying in bed, I looked, and there before me was a holy one, a messenger,b coming down from heaven.

И не будет он думать больше как человек, у него будет ум животного. В течение семи лет он будет в таком состоянии”.

He called in a loud voice: ‘Cut down the tree and trim off its branches; strip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. Let the animals flee from under it and the birds from its branches.

Святые Ангелы объявили это наказание, чтобы все люди на земле знали, что Всемогущий Бог правит над царствами людей и отдаёт их кому желает, а также Сам выбирает смиренных людей править этими царствами!

But let the stump and its roots, bound with iron and bronze, remain in the ground, in the grass of the field. “ ‘Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven, and let him live with the animals among the plants of the earth.

Вот какой сон видел я, царь Навуходоносор. А теперь, Валтасар, расскажи мне, что это означает. Никто из мудрецов в моём царстве не может растолковать мне этот сон. Но ты, Валтасар, можешь растолковать этот сон, потому что в тебе дух святых богов”».

Let his mind be changed from that of a man and let him be given the mind of an animal, till seven timesc pass by for him.

Тогда Даниил (которого также звали Валтасар) задумался и некоторое время пробыл в думах. Мысли беспокоили его, поэтому царь сказал: «Валтасар, пусть не пугает тебя этот сон и его значение». И Валтасар ответил царю: «Господин мой, как хотел бы я, чтобы этот сон был о твоих ненавистниках, а значение его относилось к твоим врагам.

“ ‘The decision is announced by messengers, the holy ones declare the verdict, so that the living may know that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes and sets over them the lowliest of people.’

Во сне ты видел дерево, которое выросло высоким и крепким, и его вершина касалась небес. Его видно было со всех концов земли.

“This is the dream that I, King Nebuchadnezzar, had. Now, Belteshazzar, tell me what it means, for none of the wise men in my kingdom can interpret it for me. But you can, because the spirit of the holy gods is in you.”

На нём были прекрасные листья, а плодов было так много, что всем хватало на пропитание. Оно служило домом для диких животных, а в его ветвях гнездились птицы. Вот какое дерево видел ты.

Then Daniel (also called Belteshazzar) was greatly perplexed for a time, and his thoughts terrified him. So the king said, “Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its meaning alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered, “My lord, if only the dream applied to your enemies and its meaning to your adversaries!

Царь, ты — это дерево! Ты стал великим и могущественным. Ты как высокое дерево, которое достигает небес, и твоя власть простирается до краёв земли.

The tree you saw, which grew large and strong, with its top touching the sky, visible to the whole earth,

Царь, ты видел святого Ангела, сходящего с небес. Он сказал: „Срубите дерево и уничтожьте его, только его пень с корнями оставьте в земле. Скуйте его железным и бронзовым кольцом и оставьте в полевой траве, чтобы роса орошала его. Он будет жить как дикое животное и таким останется, пока не пройдёт семь лет”.

with beautiful leaves and abundant fruit, providing food for all, giving shelter to the wild animals, and having nesting places in its branches for the birds —

Царь, вот толкование этого сна: Всемогущий Бог повелел, чтобы случилось всё это с моим господином, царём.

Your Majesty, you are that tree! You have become great and strong; your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.

Царь Навуходоносор, ты будешь вынужден покинуть свой народ. Ты будешь жить среди диких животных и есть траву как скот, и роса небесная будет орошать тебя. Пройдёт семь лет, прежде чем ты сможешь извлечь необходимые выводы из этого урока. Ты познаешь, что Бог Всевышний правит над царством людей и Бог Всевышний даёт царства тому, кому захочет.

“Your Majesty saw a holy one, a messenger, coming down from heaven and saying, ‘Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave the stump, bound with iron and bronze, in the grass of the field, while its roots remain in the ground. Let him be drenched with the dew of heaven; let him live with the wild animals, until seven times pass by for him.’

Повеление оставить корень дерева в земле означает вот что: твоё царство будет возвращено тебе, когда ты познаешь, что Всевышний Бог правит твоим царством.

“This is the interpretation, Your Majesty, and this is the decree the Most High has issued against my lord the king:

Посему, царь, прими мой совет: совершай добрые дела, не греши и будь милостив к бедным людям, чтобы искупить свой грех. И тогда успех будет сопутствовать тебе».

You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox and be drenched with the dew of heaven. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.

Всё именно так и произошло с царём Навуходоносором.

The command to leave the stump of the tree with its roots means that your kingdom will be restored to you when you acknowledge that Heaven rules.

Спустя двенадцать месяцев после того, как царь Навуходоносор видел этот сон, он гулял по крыше своего дворца в Вавилоне.

Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.”

«Посмотрите на Вавилон! — сказал царь. — Я построил этот великий город. Это — мой дворец! Я построил этот великий город силой своего могущества, чтобы показать моё величие!»

All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar.

Не успел он договорить эти слова, как с небес раздался голос, который сказал: «Царь Навуходоносор, вот что случится с тобой: твоя царская власть отнята у тебя!

Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon,

Тебя отлучат от людей, и ты будешь жить с дикими зверями. Ты будешь питаться травой как вол. Пройдёт семь лет, прежде чем ты сможешь извлечь необходимые выводы из этого урока. Ты познаешь, что Бог Всевышний правит над царствами людей и что Он даёт власть тем, кому захочет».

he said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”

Всё это исполнилось тотчас же. Навуходоносор был изгнан от людей и стал питаться травой как вол. Его орошала роса, и его волосы выросли длинными, словно перья орла, а ногти стали как когти птицы.

Even as the words were on his lips, a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you.

По окончании этого времени я, Навуходоносор, взглянул на небо, и ко мне снова возвратился мой разум. И тогда я восхвалил Бога Всевышнего и прославил Того, Кто живёт вечно: «Бог правит вечно! Его царство продлится во все поколения!

You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.”

Все люди, живущие на земле, ничего не значат. По воле Своей Бог делает всё, что пожелает, как с властью небесной, так и с людьми на земле. Никто не может остановить Его могучую руку! Никто не может спросить Его: „Что делаешь Ты?”

Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.

В то время Бог вернул мне мой разум, великий почёт и царскую власть. Мои советники и царские сановники начали снова просить моего совета. Я снова стал царём, и моё величие стало ещё выше, чем раньше, а власть укрепилась.

At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation.

И теперь я, Навуходоносор, превозношу, почитаю и восхваляю Царя Небесного. Все дела Его праведны, Он всегда справедлив и может сделать гордых людей смиренными!»

All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?”

At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
