Dies ist das Buch von der Geschichte Jesu Christi, des Sohnes Davids, des Sohnes Abrahams.

Book of the generation of Jesus Christ, Son of David, Son of Abraham.

Abraham zeugte Isaak. Isaak zeugte Jakob. Jakob zeugte c Juda und seine Brüder.

Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob begat Juda and his brethren;

Juda zeugte Perez und Serach mit der Tamar. Perez zeugte Hezron. Hezron zeugte Ram.

and Juda begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom, and Esrom begat Aram,

Ram zeugte Amminadab. Amminadab zeugte Nachschon. Nachschon zeugte Salmon.

and Aram begat Aminadab, and Aminadab begat Naasson, and Naasson begat Salmon,

Salmon zeugte Boas mit der Rahab. Boas zeugte Obed mit der Rut. Obed zeugte Isai.

and Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse,

Isai zeugte den König David. David zeugte Salomo mit der Frau des Uria.

and Jesse begat David the king. And David begat Solomon, of her [that had been the wife] of Urias;

Salomo zeugte Rehabeam. Rehabeam zeugte Abija. Abija zeugte Asa.

and Solomon begat Roboam, and Roboam begat Abia, and Abia begat Asa,

Asa zeugte Joschafat. Joschafat zeugte Joram. Joram zeugte Usija.

and Asa begat Josaphat, and Josaphat begat Joram, and Joram begat Ozias,

Usija zeugte Jotam. Jotam zeugte Ahas. Ahas zeugte Hiskia.

and Ozias begat Joatham, and Joatham begat Achaz, and Achaz begat Ezekias,

Hiskia zeugte Manasse. Manasse zeugte Amon. Amon zeugte Josia.

and Ezekias begat Manasses, and Manasses begat Amon, and Amon begat Josias,

Josia zeugte Jojachin und seine Brüder um die Zeit der babylonischen Gefangenschaft.

and Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, at the time of the carrying away of Babylon.

Nach der babylonischen Gefangenschaft zeugte Jojachin Schealtïl. Schealtiël zeugte Serubbabel.

And after the carrying away of Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel, and Salathiel begat Zorobabel,

Serubbabel zeugte Abihud. Abihud zeugte Eljakim. Eljakim zeugte Asor.

and Zorobabel begat Abiud, and Abiud begat Eliakim, and Eliakim begat Azor,

Asor zeugte Zadok. Zadok zeugte Achim. Achim zeugte Eliud.

and Azor begat Sadoc, and Sadoc begat Achim, and Achim begat Eliud,

Eliud zeugte Eleasar. Eleasar zeugte Mattan. Mattan zeugte Jakob.

and Eliud begat Eliazar, and Eliazar begat Matthan, and Matthan begat Jacob,

Jakob zeugte Josef, den Mann der Maria, von der geboren ist Jesus, der da heißt Christus.

and Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

Alle Glieder von Abraham bis zu David sind vierzehn Glieder. Von David bis zur babylonischen Gefangenschaft sind vierzehn Glieder. Von der babylonischen Gefangenschaft bis zu Christus sind vierzehn Glieder.

All the generations, therefore, from Abraham to David [were] fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away of Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the carrying away of Babylon unto the Christ, fourteen generations.

Die Geburt Jesu Christi geschah aber so: Als Maria, seine Mutter, dem Josef vertraut war, fand es sich, ehe er sie heimholte, daß sie schwanger war von dem heiligen Geist.

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: His mother, Mary, that is, having been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child of [the] Holy Spirit.

Josef aber, ihr Mann, war fromm und wollte sie nicht in Schande bringen, gedachte aber, sie heimlich zu verlassen.

But Joseph, her husband, being [a] righteous [man], and unwilling to expose her publicly, purposed to have put her away secretly;

Als er das noch bedachte, siehe, da erschien ihm der Engel des Herrn im Traum und sprach: Josef, du Sohn Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria, deine Frau, zu dir zu nehmen; denn was sie empfangen hat, das ist von dem heiligen Geist.

but while he pondered on these things, behold, an angel of [the] Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to [thee] Mary, thy wife, for that which is begotten in her is of [the] Holy Spirit.

Und sie wird einen Sohn gebären, dem sollst du den Namen Jesus geben, denn er wird sein Volk retten von ihren Sünden.

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.

Das ist aber alles geschehen, damit erfüllt würde, was der Herr durch den Propheten gesagt hat, der da spricht (Jesaja 7,14): «

Now all this came to pass that that might be fulfilled which was spoken by [the] Lord, through the prophet, saying,

Siehe, eine Jungfrau wird schwanger sein und einen Sohn gebären, und sie werden ihm den Namen Immanuel geben», das heißt übersetzt: Gott mit uns.

Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is, being interpreted, 'God with us.'

Als nun Josef vom Schlaf erwachte, tat er, wie ihm der Engel des Herrn befohlen hatte, und nahm seine Frau zu sich.

But Joseph, having awoke up from his sleep, did as the angel of [the] Lord had enjoined him, and took to [him] his wife,

Und er berührte sie nicht, bis sie einen Sohn gebar; und er gab ihm den Namen Jesus.

and knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
