Старец — избранной госпоже и детям ее, которых я люблю в истине, и не я один, но и все, познавшие истину,

The Elder, To the [a]elect lady and her children, whom I love in truth, and not only I, but also all those who have known the truth,

ради истины, пребывающей в нас — и с нами будет вовек:

because of the truth which abides in us and will be with us forever:

Будет с нами благодать, милость, мир от Бога Отца и от Иисуса Христа, Сына Отца, в истине и любви.

Grace, mercy, and peace will be with [b]you from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Я обрадовался очень, что нашел из детей твоих живущих в истине, как заповедь получили мы от Отца.

I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.

И ныне прошу тебя, госпожа, — не как заповедь пишу тебе новую, но ту, которую мы имели от начала, чтобы мы любили друг друга.

And now I plead with you, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment to you, but that which we have had from the beginning: that we love one another.

И вот любовь: чтобы мы ходили согласно заповедям Его; это та заповедь, которую вы слышали от начала, чтобы в ней и ходили.

This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

Потому что много блуждателей вышло в мир, не признающих Иисуса Христа приходящего во плоти. Это — блуждатель и антихрист.

For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Смотрите за собой, чтобы вам не уничтожить сделанное нами, но награду полную получить.

Look to yourselves, that [c]we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.

Всякий рвущийся вперед и не пребывающий в учении Христа, Бога не имеет. Пребывающий же в учении, тот и Отца и Сына имеет.

Whoever [d]transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.

Если приходит к вам кто-то и не приносит этого учения, не принимайте его в дом и «Радоваться!» ему не говорите;

If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;

ведь говорящий ему «Радоваться!», приобщается к злым делам его.

for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

Многое имею вам написать, но не хочу на папирусе и чернилами, надеюсь же оказаться у вас и говорить уста к устам, чтобы радость наша наполнилась.

Having many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink; but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

Приветствуют тебя дети сестры твоей избранной.

The children of your elect sister greet you. Amen.
