Ты, ГОСПОДИ, будешь прав, если будет у меня тяжба с Тобою, но взываю к Тебе о правосудии. Почему нечестивые процветают1 и вероломные благоденствуют?

Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

Ты насадил их — и они пустили корни, растут и плоды приносят. Они только и говорят что о Тебе, но от сердца2 их Ты далек.

Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.

Но Ты, ГОСПОДИ, меня ведь знаешь, Ты знаешь3 мое сердце и видишь, что я с Тобой. Выведи их, как овец на заклание, приготовь4 их для забоя.5

But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

Сколько еще скорбеть6 земле и сохнуть траве на поле? Из-за нечестия живущих на ней гибнут и звери, и птицы, потому что люди говорят: «Бог7 не увидит нашей кончины».

How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.

«Если ты бежал вместе с пешими и они тебя утомили, тебе ли тягаться со всадниками? Если не устоял ты в мирной стране, спасешься ли при наводнении Иордана?8

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

Вот и братья твои, и все домочадцы отца твоего обманывают тебя, кричат тебе вслед дурное. Не верь им, даже когда они с добрым словом к тебе обратятся.

For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.

Я Дом Свой оставил, удел Свой отверг, возлюбленную души Моей отдал в руки врагов.

I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.

Удел Мой стал словно лев в лесу: рычит он яростно на Меня, его Я за это возненавидел.

Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it.

Удел Мой стал, словно пестрый стервятник, окруженный другими стервятниками. Идите, собирайтесь, все звери полевые, — ждет вас пожива.

Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.

Толпа пастухов вытоптала Мой виноградник, разорила надел, что дорог Мне, превратила его в пустыню.

Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.

Стал он бесплодной землей — рыдает предо Мной разоренный». Сама земля стала пустыней, и нет никого, кто принял бы это близко к сердцу.

They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.

Разрушители пришли даже на все холмы в пустыне; и меч ГОСПОДА пожирает всё на земле от края и до края — никому не укрыться.9

The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.

Пшеницу они посеяли, но жать пришлось тернии. Изнуряли себя без проку. Стыдитесь же! Ваш урожай — яростный гнев ГОСПОДЕНЬ.

They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.

Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ обо всех Своих злых соседях, что посягнули на наследие, которое Он оставил народу Своему, Израилю: «Искореню Я их из земли и вырву из них род Иудин.

Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.

А после того как искореню их, Я их помилую и верну каждого к своему наследию, в землю свою.

And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.

И если они действительно научатся путям народа Моего, чтобы по праву клясться именем Моим: „Жив ГОСПОДЬ!“, как они научили народ Мой клясться Ваалом, тогда смогут они прочно укорениться среди народа Моего.

And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.

Если же не послушаются Меня, тогда Я вырву с корнем этот народ и навсегда уничтожу», — таково слово ГОСПОДА.

But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.
