Тогда ГОСПОДЬ велел Моисею снова пойти к фараону и сказать ему: «Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „Отпусти народ Мой, чтобы он совершил служение Мне.

And Jehovah said to Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith Jehovah: Let my people go, that they may serve me.

Если не отпустишь, то всю твою землю поражу: нашлю на нее полчища жаб.1

And if thou refuse to let [them] go, behold, I will smite all thy borders with frogs.

Весь Нил будет кишеть этими жабами. И выйдут они из реки и заберутся в дом твой, в спальню твою и в постель твою; проникнут они в дома слуг твоих и народа твоего, во все печи и квашни залезут.

And the river shall swarm with frogs, and they shall go up and come into thy house, and into thy bedroom, and upon thy bed, and into the house of thy bondmen, and upon thy people, and into thine ovens, and into thy kneading-troughs.

Жабы будут на тебе, на народе твоем и на всех придворных твоих“».

And the frogs shall come up both upon thee and upon thy people, and upon all thy bondmen.

И повелел ГОСПОДЬ Моисею: «Скажи Аарону: „Простри руку твою с посохом в сторону рек, протоков Нила и болот, чтобы наслать жаб на землю египетскую“».

And Jehovah said to Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy hand with thy staff over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.

Простер Аарон руку свою в сторону вод египетских — и вышли из них жабы и покрыли собою всю землю.

And Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

Но и маги опять силою чар своих сделали то же: наслали и они жаб на землю египетскую.

And the scribes did so with their sorceries, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.

Тогда фараон позвал Моисея и Аарона. «Попросите ГОСПОДА, — сказал он, — пусть удалит от меня и подданных моих этих жаб, и я отпущу народ ваш принести жертву ГОСПОДУ».

And Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron, and said, Intreat Jehovah, that he may take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to Jehovah.

Моисей так ответил фараону: «Ты вправе назначить мне срок, когда я должен попросить о тебе, о придворных твоих и о народе, чтобы вам избавиться от жаб, чтобы не было их в домах ваших и остались бы они только в реке».

And Moses said to Pharaoh, Glory over me, for what time shall I intreat for thee, and for thy bondmen, and for thy people, to cut off the frogs from thee and from thy houses; [so that] they shall remain in the river only?

«К завтрашнему дню пусть они исчезнут», — сказал фараон. «Будет по слову твоему, дабы узнал ты, что нет в мире никого равного ГОСПОДУ, Богу нашему, — ответил ему Моисей. —

And he said, For to-morrow. And he said, Be it according to thy word; that thou mayest know that there is none like Jehovah our God.

И ты, и дворец твой, и придворные твои, и народ твой будете избавлены от жаб. Останутся они только в реке».

And the frogs shall depart from thee, and from thy houses, and from thy bondmen, and from thy people: they shall remain in the river only.

Как только Моисей и Аарон вышли от фараона, Моисей громко воззвал к ГОСПОДУ, прося Его об избавлении от жаб, которых Он наслал на все владения фараона.2

And Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh; and Moses cried to Jehovah because of the frogs that he had brought against Pharaoh.

И сделал ГОСПОДЬ так, как просил Моисей: вымерли жабы в домах, во дворах и на полях.

And Jehovah did according to the word of Moses; and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the fields.

Их собирали в кучи, и смрад стоял по всей стране.

And they gathered them in heaps; and the land stank.

Но когда фараон увидел, что кара миновала, он опять стал упрямиться и, как предсказывал ГОСПОДЬ, слушать не хотел Моисея и Аарона.

And Pharaoh saw that there was respite; and he hardened his heart, and hearkened not to them, as Jehovah had said.

Повелел тогда ГОСПОДЬ Моисею: «Скажи Аарону, пусть он поднимет посох и ударит им по пыли, на земле лежащей, — и тогда не пыль, а мошки будут повсюду в Египте».

And Jehovah said to Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy staff, and smite the dust of the earth, and it shall become gnats throughout the land of Egypt.

Так они и сделали: Аарон занес руку с посохом и ударил по пыли — и тут же тучи мошек облепили людей и скот. По всему Египту пыль, что была на земле, превратилась в мошкару.

And they did so; and Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff, and smote the dust of the earth, and there arose gnats on man and on beast: all the dust of the land became gnats throughout the land of Egypt.

Попытались и маги своими чарами произвести мошек, но не смогли. А мошки были повсюду — и на людях, и на скоте.

And the scribes did so with their sorceries, to bring forth gnats; but they could not. And the gnats were on man and on beast.

«Это перст Божий», — сказали маги фараону. Но фараон остался непреклонным и не послушал Моисея и Аарона,3 как и предсказывал ГОСПОДЬ.

Then the scribes said to Pharaoh, This is the finger of God! But Pharaoh's heart was stubborn, and he hearkened not to them, as Jehovah had said.

После этого ГОСПОДЬ сказал Моисею: «Завтра рано утром снова подойди к фараону, когда он будет идти к реке, и скажи ему: „Так говорит ГОСПОДЬ: „Отпусти народ Мой, чтобы он совершил служение Мне,

And Jehovah said to Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh -- behold, he will go out to the water -- and say to him, Thus saith Jehovah, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

если же не отпустишь народа Моего, Я нашлю на тебя и на слуг твоих, на народ твой и в дома твои рои слепней.4 Наполнятся ими дома египтян, да и сама та земля, где они живут, воскишит слепнями.

For, if thou do not let my people go, behold, I will send dog-flies upon thee, and upon thy bondmen, and upon thy people, and into thy houses; and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of dog-flies, and also the ground on which they are.

Пощажу в тот день лишь землю Гошен с народом Моим на ней — слепней там не будет, дабы знал ты, что Я, ГОСПОДЬ, Владыка на земле.

And I will distinguish in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no dog-flies shall be there; that thou mayest know that I Jehovah am in the midst of the land.

Я покажу, в чем различие5 между народом Моим и народом твоим. Сие знамение завтра же будет видимо““».

And I will put a separation between my people and thy people; to-morrow shall this sign be.

Так и сделал ГОСПОДЬ: полчища слепней стали одолевать дворец фараона, дома слуг его и весь Египет. Страна погибала от насекомых.

And Jehovah did so; and there came dog-flies in a multitude into the house of Pharaoh, and [into] the houses of his bondmen; and throughout the land of Egypt, the land was corrupted by the dog-flies.

Тогда позвал фараон Моисея и Аарона и сказал им: «Идите и совершите жертвоприношение Богу вашему здесь, в этой стране».

And Pharaoh called Moses and Aaron, and said, Go, sacrifice to your God in the land.

«Это было бы неразумно, — возразил Моисей. — Ведь жертвы, кои мы приносим ГОСПОДУ, Богу нашему, египтян глубоко оскорбляют. Если мы станем открыто, на их глазах, совершать свои жертвоприношения, для египтян мерзкие и оскорбительные, разве не побьют они нас камнями?

And Moses said, It is not proper to do so; for we should sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to Jehovah our God: lo, if we sacrificed the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, would they not stone us?

Нам надо идти в пустыню — три дня пути отсюда — и там принести жертву ГОСПОДУ, Богу нашему, как Он велит нам».

We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Jehovah our God, as he shall command us.

«Я отпущу вас, — сказал фараон, — чтобы вы принесли жертву ГОСПОДУ, Богу вашему, в пустыне, только не уходите далеко. И помолитесь обо мне!»

And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to Jehovah your God in the wilderness; only, go not very far away: intreat for me!

Моисей пообещал: «Как только я выйду от тебя, помолюсь ГОСПОДУ, чтобы завтра же слепни покинули фараона, его придворных и народ. Только бы перестал фараон вводить нас в заблуждение и препятствовать народу нашему принести жертвы ГОСПОДУ».

And Moses said, Behold, I go out from thee, and will intreat Jehovah; and the dog-flies will depart from Pharaoh, from his bondmen, and from his people, to-morrow; only let not Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to Jehovah.

Вышел Моисей от фараона и помолился ГОСПОДУ.

And Moses went out from Pharaoh, and intreated Jehovah.

ГОСПОДЬ же сделал так, как Моисей обещал фараону: удалил Он насекомых от фараона, слуг его и от народа его; не осталось ни одного.

And Jehovah did according to the word of Moses; and he removed the dog-flies from Pharaoh, from his bondmen, and from his people; there remained not one.

Но и в этот раз фараон проявил упрямство и не отпустил народ.

And Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and would not let the people go.
