Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children,

Подражайте Богу как возлюбленные дети,

and walk in love, even as the Christ loved us, and delivered himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour.

и живите жизнью, отмеченной любовью, так как Христос любил нас и принёс Себя в жертву ради нас — благоуханное приношение и жертва Богу.

But fornication and all uncleanness or unbridled lust, let it not be even named among you, as it becomes saints;

Вам не следует даже говорить о блуде, злодеяниях или жадности, так как это не подобает святым людям Божьим.

and filthiness and foolish talking, or jesting, which are not convenient; but rather thanksgiving.

Среди вас не должно быть ни постыдных речей, ни глупых разговоров, ни грубых шуток, так как вам не подобает всё это. Вместо того неустанно благодарите Бога.

For this ye are [well] informed of, knowing that no fornicator, or unclean person, or person of unbridled lust, who is an idolater, has inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.

Потому что можете быть уверены, что никто из тех, кто предаётся блуду, кто совершает зло или жаден (а это то же самое, что и идолопоклонство), не имеет наследия в царстве Христа и Бога.

Let no one deceive you with vain words, for on account of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Пусть никто не обманет вас лживыми словами. Гнев Божий настигнет тех, кто говорит неправду.

Be not ye therefore fellow-partakers with them;

Поэтому не будьте их соучастниками.

for ye were once darkness, but now light in [the] Lord; walk as children of light,

Потому что когда-то вы были полны тьмы, сейчас же исполнены света. Живите же как дети, принадлежащие свету.

(for the fruit of the light [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth,)

Потому что влияние света проявляется во всякой доброте, праведности и истине.

proving what is agreeable to the Lord;

Всегда старайтесь установить, что угодно Господу,

and do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather also reprove [them],

и не совершайте зло, как это делают люди, принадлежащие тьме, а напротив, обличайте их.

for the things that are done by them in secret it is shameful even to say.

Потому что об их тайных деяниях позорно даже говорить,

But all things having their true character exposed by the light are made manifest; for that which makes everything manifest is light.

но всё становится явным при обличающем свете.

Wherefore he says, Wake up, [thou] that sleepest, and arise up from among the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.

Всё становится явным при свете. Вот почему мы говорим: «Проснись, о спящий! Восстань из мёртвых, и Христос осияет тебя».

See therefore how ye walk carefully, not as unwise but as wise,

Так будьте же осторожны в своих поступках. Не живите как неразумные, но будьте разумны,

redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

как те, кто пользуются любой возможностью творить добро, потому что время сейчас недоброе.

For this reason be not foolish, but understanding what [is] the will of the Lord.

Так не будьте же глупцами, а постигните волю Господнюю.

And be not drunk with wine, in which is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,

И не напивайтесь вином, так как это приводит к распутству, но лучше исполняйтесь Духом.

speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and chanting with your heart to the Lord;

Вдохновляйте друг друга псалмами, гимнами и духовными песнями. Пойте и воспевайте Господа в ваших сердцах

giving thanks at all times for all things to him [who is] God and [the] Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

и всегда благодарите за всё Бога, Отца нашего, во имя Господа нашего, Иисуса Христа.

submitting yourselves to one another in [the] fear of Christ.

Подчиняйтесь друг другу в знак почитания Христа.

Wives, [submit yourselves] to your own husbands, as to the Lord,

Жёны, покоряйтесь вашим мужьям как Господу,

for a husband is head of the wife, as also the Christ [is] head of the assembly. He [is] Saviour of the body.

потому что муж — глава над своей женой, как Христос глава над церковью. Сам же Он — спаситель тела.

But even as the assembly is subjected to the Christ, so also wives to their own husbands in everything.

И как церковь покоряется Христу, так и жёны должны во всём покоряться своим мужьям.

Husbands, love your own wives, even as the Christ also loved the assembly, and has delivered himself up for it,

Мужья, любите ваших жён, как Христос возлюбил церковь. Христос отдал Себя за неё в жертву,

in order that he might sanctify it, purifying [it] by the washing of water by [the] word,

чтобы освятить её, очистив её омовением в воде и провозглашением Благой Вести,

that he might present the assembly to himself glorious, having no spot, or wrinkle, or any of such things; but that it might be holy and blameless.

и чтобы взять церковь Себе в невесты как сияющую, безупречную, без всякого изъяна, чтобы она была свята и непорочна.

So ought men also to love their own wives as their own bodies: he that loves his own wife loves himself.

Мужья так должны любить своих жён, как любят свою собственную плоть. Кто любит свою жену, любит и себя.

For no one has ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as also the Christ the assembly:

Потому что нет такого человека, который бы ненавидел свою плоть. Наоборот, он заботится о ней, холит и лелеет её так, как Христос заботится о церкви,

for we are members of his body; [we are of his flesh, and of his bones.]

потому что мы — члены Его тела.

Because of this a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be united to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.

Как сказано в Писаниях: «Поэтому человек покидает отца и мать своих и соединяется с женой своей, и два человека сольются воедино».

This mystery is great, but I speak as to Christ, and as to the assembly.

Эта тайная истина очень важна, и я говорю, что она касается Христа и церкви.

But ye also, every one of you, let each so love his own wife as himself; but as to the wife [I speak] that she may fear the husband.

Однако каждый из вас должен любить свою жену, как самого себя, жена же должна уважать своего мужа.
