I looked again, and there before me was a flying scroll.

Я снова поднял глаза и увидел летящий свиток.

He asked me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll, twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.a”

Ангел спросил меня:— Что ты видишь?Я ответил:— Вижу летящий свиток длиной в двадцать локтей и шириной в десять.

And he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.

Он объяснил:— Это проклятие, нисходящее на всю землю. Всякий вор будет истреблен, как написано на этой стороне, а всякий клятвопреступник — как написано на той.

The Lord Almighty declares, ‘I will send it out, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.’ ”

Я пошлю его — пророчество Господа Воинств — в дом того, кто крадет, и в дом того, кто ложно клянется именем Моим. Оно останется там, и разрушит дом — и балки, и камни.

Then the angel who was speaking to me came forward and said to me, “Look up and see what is appearing.”

Тогда говоривший со мной ангел выступил вперед и сказал:— Посмотри, что это приближается?

I asked, “What is it?” He replied, “It is a basket.” And he added, “This is the iniquityb of the people throughout the land.”

Я спросил:— Что же это?И он ответил:— Это мерная корзина.И добавил:— Такова их вина по всей земле.

Then the cover of lead was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman!

Тогда поднялась свинцовая крышка корзины и оказалось, что внутри сидела женщина.

He said, “This is wickedness,” and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed its lead cover down on it.

Он сказал:— Это и есть само нечестие!Женщину он бросил прямо в корзину, и закрыл ее крышкой.

Then I looked up — and there before me were two women, with the wind in their wings! They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.

Я посмотрел и увидел двух женщин, их крылья были полны ветра (у них были крылья, как у аистов). Они понесли корзину между небом и землей.

“Where are they taking the basket?” I asked the angel who was speaking to me.

А я спросил говорившего со мной ангела:— Куда они понесли корзину?

He replied, “To the country of Babyloniac to build a house for it. When the house is ready, the basket will be set there in its place.”

Он ответил:— В долину Шинар, чтобы устроить там ей дом. И когда все будет готово, она будет водружена на свое место.
