Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:

Павел, Божьей волей апостол Христа Иисуса, и со мной брат Тимофей — Божьей церкви в Коринфе, всему святому народу повсюду в Ахайе:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Милость вам и мир от Бога Отца нашего и Господа Иисуса Христа!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

Благословен Бог и Отец Господа нашего Иисуса Христа — Отец милосердный, Бог заступник.

who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any [a]trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Он заступается за нас во всех наших бедах, чтобы и нам за тех, кто в беде, заступиться, предоставить им защиту, которая у нас самих от Бога.

For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our [b]consolation also abounds through Christ.

С возрастанием тяжести наших страданий ради Христа растет и заступничество Христа.

Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

Мы свои беды терпим ради вашего спокойствия, вашего спасения. Нам дается защита, и с ней мы идем к вам, чтобы заступиться и помочь вам перенести страдания, претерпеваемые и нами.

And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.

Наша надежда на вас основательна, потому что и страдания, и заступничество у нас с вами общие. Это мы помним.

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our [c]trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.

Не хотим умолчать, братья, о прискорбном случае, постигшем нас в Азии, когда справиться с бедой было сверх наших сил и мы уже не чаяли остаться в живых.

Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,

Но смертный приговор для того и маячил перед нами, чтобы мы полагались не на самих себя, а только на Бога, воскрешающего мертвых.

who delivered us from so great a death, and [d]does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,

Он нас от верной смерти избавил и избавляет. Надеемся, что и еще избавит.

you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on [e]our behalf for the gift granted to us through many.

Об этом сотворите молитву. Пусть будет много молитв. Благодарите за милость, дарованную нам по ходатайству множества уст.

For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in [f]simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.

Отрадно сознавать, что наша совесть не расходится с тем, как мы жили в мире и, конечно, у вас. Нами руководила не мудрость из головы, а Божья благодать, простота и чистая Божья искренность.

For we are not writing any other things to you than what you read or understand. Now I trust you will understand, even to the end

Я ничего такого не пишу, что могло бы при чтении оказаться выше вашего понимания. Надеюсь, что вы всё поймете.

(as also you have understood us in part), that we are your boast as you also are ours, in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Да вы для начала уже и поняли, что в День Господа нашего Иисуса мы — ваша заслуга, как и вы — наша.

And in this confidence I intended to come to you before, that you might have a second benefit —

С этими мыслями я намеревался прийти сначала к вам, чтобы смог повториться ваш счастливый случай,

to pass by way of you to Macedonia, to come again from Macedonia to you, and be helped by you on my way to Judea.

И от вас идти далее в Македонию, затем из Македонии снова к вам. И тогда вы проводили бы меня в Иудею.

Therefore, when I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes, Yes, and No, No?

Может показаться, что я вас обманул. Или принимал решение на авось. Нет, я не из тех, кто говорит одно, а думает другое.

But as God is faithful, our [g]word to you was not Yes and No.

Видит Бог, наше обещание не было таким: не то да, не то нет.

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us — by me, Silvanus, and Timothy — was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes.

Мы, то есть я, Сильван и Тимофей, возвещали у вас Сына Божьего Иисуса Христа, а у Него никогда не было этого «да-нет», только «да».

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

Сколько бы ни было обетований Божьих, все они по сути Христа — да. Через Него и от нас Богу во славу Божью — аминь!

Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,

Наш с вами союз с Христом утверждает Бог. Он и помазал нас.

who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Он наложил на нас печать собственности и сообщил нашим сердцам уверениe Духа.

Moreover I call God as witness against my soul, that to spare you I came no more to Corinth.

Бога призываю в свидетели моей души, что щадил вас, не торопясь до сих пор вернуться в Коринф.

Not that we [h]have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand.

И дело не в вашей вере. Тут мы диктовать не беремся — это радость нашей совместной работы. Вера — ваша сильная сторона.
