This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Sosthenes.

Павел, воляю Божаю паклíканы Апостал Іісуса Хрыста, і Сасфе́н брат, —

I am writing to God’s church in Corinth,a to you who have been called by God to be his own holy people. He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus,b just as he did for all people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours.

Царкве Божай, якая ў Карынфе, асвячоным у Хрысце Іісусе, пакліканым святым, з усімі, хто прызывае імя́ Госпада нашага Іісуса Хрыста ў кожным месцы, у іх і ў нас:

May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

благадаць вам і мір ад Бога Айца нашага і Госпада Іісуса Хрыста.

I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus.

Дзякую заўсёды Богу майму за вас, за благадаць Божую, дадзеную вам ў Хрысце Іісусе,

Through him, God has enriched your church in every way — with all of your eloquent words and all of your knowledge.

таму што ў Ім вы ўзбагаціліся ўсім, усякім словам і ўсякім пазнаннем,

This confirms that what I told you about Christ is true.

паколькі сведчанне Хрыстова ўмацавалася ў вас,

Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

так што вы не маеце нястачы ні ў якім дары, чакаючы адкравення Госпада нашага Іісуса Хрыста,

He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.

Які і ўмацуе вас да канца, каб вы былí беззаганнымі ў дзень Госпада нашага Іісуса Хрыста.

God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Верны Бог, Якім вы пакліканы да супольнасці з Сынам Яго Іісусам Хрыстом, Госпадам нашым.

I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters,c by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

Малю́ вас, браты, імем Госпада нашага Іісуса Хрыста, каб усе вы гаварылі адно і не было паміж вамі падзе́лаў, але каб вы былі злучаны адным разуменнем і адною думкаю.

For some members of Chloe’s household have told me about your quarrels, my dear brothers and sisters.

Бо ад дамашніх Хлоі стала мне вядома пра вас, браты мае́, што паміж вамі ёсць спрэчкі.

Some of you are saying, “I am a follower of Paul.” Others are saying, “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Peter,d” or “I follow only Christ.”

Кажу я так, бо кожны з вас гаворыць: я Паўлаў; а я Апалосаў; а я Кіфаў; а я Хрыстоў.

Has Christ been divided into factions? Was I, Paul, crucified for you? Were any of you baptized in the name of Paul? Of course not!

Няўжо раздзяліўся Хрыстос? хіба́ Павел быў распя́ты за вас? ці ў імя Паўла вы хрысціліся?

I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,

Дзякую Богу, што я нікога з вас не хрысціў, акрамя Крыспа і Гаія,

for now no one can say they were baptized in my name.

каб хто не сказаў, што я хрысціў у сваё імя́.

(Oh yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas, but I don’t remember baptizing anyone else.)

Хрысціў я таксама дом Сцяфанаў; а больш не ведаю, ці хрысціў каго іншага.

For Christ didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the Good News — and not with clever speech, for fear that the cross of Christ would lose its power.

Бо Хрыстос мяне паслаў не хрысцíць, а дабраве́сціць, і то не ў мудрасці слова, каб не зрабіць марным крыж Хрыстоў.

The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.

Бо слова пра крыж для тых, якія гінуць, — гэта неразумнасць, а для нас, якія спасаемся, — сіла Божая.

As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”e

Бо напісана: «загублю мудрасць мудрацоў, і розум разумных адкіну».

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

Дзе мудрэц? дзе кніжнік? дзе знаўца веку гэтага́ Ці не ператварыў Бог мудрасць свету гэтага ў неразумнасць?

Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.

Паколькі ж свет сваёю мудрасцю не пазнаў Бога ў прамудрасці Божай, то пажадаў Бог праз «неразумнасць» пропаведзі спасці веруючых.

It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom.

Бо і Іудзеі патрабуюць цудаў, і Эліны шукаюць мудрасці;

So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

а мы прапаведуем Хрыста распятага: для Іудзеяў спакусу, для Элінаў неразумнасць,

But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles,f Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

для саміх жа пакліканых — як Іудзеяў, так і Элінаў — Хрыста, Божую сілу і Божую прамудрасць;

This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

таму што «неразумнае» Божае мудрэйшае за людзей і «слабае» Божае мацнейшае за людзей.

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthyg when God called you.

Паглядзіце ж, браты, хто вы, паклíканыя: не многа сярод вас мудрых па плоці, не многа магутных, не многа высакародных;

Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

але Бог вы́браў неразумнае свету, каб пасароміць мудрых, і слабае свету выбраў Бог, каб пасароміць моцнае;

God chose things despised by the world,h things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.

і бязроднае свету, і прыніжанае, і нязначнае выбраў Бог, каб пазбавіць сілы значнае, —

As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

каб ніякая плоць не хвалілася перад Богам.

God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.

Ад Яго ж і вы ў Хрысце Іісусе, Які стаў прамудрасцю для нас ад Бога, і праведнасцю, і асвячэннем, і адкупленнем,

Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD.”i

каб было, як напісана: «хто хва́ліцца, няхай Госпадам хва́ліцца».
