This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Sosthenes.

Паўла, воляй Божай пакліканы Апостал Ісуса Хрыста, і Состэн, брат, —

I am writing to God’s church in Corinth,a to you who have been called by God to be his own holy people. He made you holy by means of Christ Jesus,b just as he did for all people everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours.

царкве́ Божай, што ў Карыньце, асьвячоным у Хрысьце́ Ісусе, пакліканым сьвятым з усімі, што́ прызываюць імя Госпада нашага Ісуса Хрыста ў-ва ўсякім ме́сцы, у іх і ў нас:

May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

ласка вам і мір ад Бога Айца нашага і Госпада Ісуса Хрыста.

I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus.

Заўсёды дзякую Богу майму за вас з прычыны ласкі Божае, да́нае вам у Хрысьце́ Ісусе,

Through him, God has enriched your church in every way — with all of your eloquent words and all of your knowledge.

бо ўсім абагаціліся вы ў Ім, усякім словам і ўсякаю ве́даю, —

This confirms that what I told you about Christ is true.

бо сьве́дчаньне Хрыстовае ўмацавалася ў вас, —

Now you have every spiritual gift you need as you eagerly wait for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

дзеля чаго вы ня маеце нястачы ні ў якім дары, ждучы адкрыцьця Госпада нашага Ісуса Хрыста,

He will keep you strong to the end so that you will be free from all blame on the day when our Lord Jesus Christ returns.

Які і ўгрунтуе вас да канца, каб быць вам бязьвіннымі ў дзе́нь Госпада нашага Ісуса Хрыста.

God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ве́рны Бог, якім вы пакліканы ў лучнасьць Сына Яго, Ісуса Хрыста, Госпада нашага.

I appeal to you, dear brothers and sisters,c by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, to live in harmony with each other. Let there be no divisions in the church. Rather, be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.

Малю вас, браты, іменем Госпада нашага Ісуса Хрыста, каб усе́ вы гаварылі адно, і ня было-б між вамі падзе́лаў, але каб вы злучаны былі ў адным розуме і ў аднэй думцы.

For some members of Chloe’s household have told me about your quarrels, my dear brothers and sisters.

Бо ад Хлоіных сталася мне́ ве́дама аб вас, браты мае́, што між вамі есьць спрэчкі.

Some of you are saying, “I am a follower of Paul.” Others are saying, “I follow Apollos,” or “I follow Peter,d” or “I follow only Christ.”

Кажу-ж аб тым, што кожны ў вас кажа: я — Паўлавы, я — Апалёсавы, я — Кіфавы, а я — Хрыстовы.

Has Christ been divided into factions? Was I, Paul, crucified for you? Were any of you baptized in the name of Paul? Of course not!

Ці-ж разьдзяліўся Хрыстос? Ці-ж Паўла раскрыжаваўся за вас? Ці ў імя Паўлава вы ахрысьціліся?

I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,

Дзякую Богу, што я нікога з вас не ахрысьціў, апрача Крыспа і Гайя,

for now no one can say they were baptized in my name.

каб не сказаў хто, што я хрысьціў у маё імя.

(Oh yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas, but I don’t remember baptizing anyone else.)

Ахрысьціў я таксама Сьцяпанавы дом, а ці ахрысьціў яшчэ каго, ня ве́даю.

For Christ didn’t send me to baptize, but to preach the Good News — and not with clever speech, for fear that the cross of Christ would lose its power.

Бо і Хрыстос паслаў мяне́ не хрысьціць, а абвяшчаць Эвангельле; не ў прамудрасьці-ж слова, каб не панізіць крыжа Хрыстовага;

The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.

бо слова, што аб крыжу, для пагібаючых ёсьць вар’яцтва, а для нас, якія спасаюцца, — сіла Божая.

As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”e

Бо напісана: загублю мудрасьць мудрацоў, і розум разумных адкіну (Ісая 29:14).

So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.

Гдзе́ мудрэц? гдзе́ кніжнік? гдзе́ дасьледчык гэтага ве́ку? Ці не ператварыў Бог мудрасьць сьве́ту гэтага ў вар’яцтва? (Ісая 33:18.)

Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.

Бо, калі сьве́т свае́ю мудрасьцяй не пазнаў Бога ў прамудрасьці Божай, дык угодна было Богу праз дурасьць пропаведзі збавіць ве́руючых.

It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom.

Бо і Юдэі трэбуюць цудаў, і Грэкі шукаюць мудрасьці;

So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.

а мы абвяшчаем Хрыста ўкрыжаванага, для Юдэяў спакусу, а для Грэкаў дурасьць,

But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles,f Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.

для самых жа пакліканых, і Юдэяў, і Грэкаў, — Хрыста, Божую сілу і Божую прамудрасьць;

This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

бо дурное Божае мудрэйшае за людзе́й, і слабое Божае дужэйшае за людзе́й.

Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthyg when God called you.

Бо паглядзе́це, браты, на пакліканьне вашае: ня многа мудрых паводле це́ла, ня многа дужых, ня многа дабрародных;

Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.

але Бог выбраў дурноту сьве́ту, каб асароміць мудрых, і бяссільнае сьве́ту выбраў Бог, каб асароміць дужо́е;

God chose things despised by the world,h things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important.

і бязроднае сьве́ту, і пагарджанае і няістотнае выбраў Бог, каб зьнішчыць істотнае,

As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.

дзеля таго, каб ніводнае це́ла не хвалілася перад Ім.

God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.

З Яго і вы ў Хрысьце́ Ісусе, які стаўся для нас прамудрасьцяй ад Бога, і праведнасьцяй, і асьвячэньнем, і адкупле́ньнем,

Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD.”i

каб было, як напісана: хто хваліцца, хваліся ў Госпадзе (Ерамія 9:24).
