This letter is from Paul, a prisoner for preaching the Good News about Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy. I am writing to Philemon, our beloved co-worker,

Павал, вязень Езуса Хрыстуса і брат Тыматэй — Філемону любаму і супрацоўніку нашаму,

and to our sister Apphia, and to our fellow soldier Archippus, and to the church that meets in youra house.

ды сястры Аппіі й Архіппу субарацьбіту з цэлай грамадкай тваей дамовай набожні.

May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

Ласка вам і супакой ад Бога Айца нашага ды Усеспадара Езуса Хрыстуса.

I always thank my God when I pray for you, Philemon,

Дзякую Богу майму, заўсёды цябе спамінаючы ў малітвах маіх,

because I keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God’s people.

чуючы аб тваей любасьці й веры, якую маеш да Езуса Збаўцы ды ўсіх сьвятых.

And I am praying that you will put into action the generosity that comes from your faith as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ.

Дзеянне веры твае стаецца яўным пры сьцьвярджанні ўсякага дабра, што даконываецца сярод вас у Хрыстусе Езусе.

Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.

Вялікую бо меў радасьць і ўцеху з твае, браце, міласьці, праз цябеж мелі падтрымку сэрцы сьвятых.

That is why I am boldly asking a favor of you. I could demand it in the name of Christ because it is the right thing for you to do.

Таму-то, хоць і меўбы ад Хрыстуса поўнаўладнасьць прыказваць табе ў выпадку патрэбы,

But because of our love, I prefer simply to ask you. Consider this as a request from me — Paul, an old man and now also a prisoner for the sake of Christ Jesus.b

прашу цябе лепш палюбоўна — я стары чалавек Павал, а цяпер ось і вязень для Езуса Хрыстуса —

I appeal to you to show kindness to my child, Onesimus. I became his father in the faith while here in prison.

прашу ў справе майго сына Анісіма якому стаўся айцом у вязьніцы.

Onesimusc hasn’t been of much use to you in the past, but now he is very useful to both of us.

Калісь ня меў ты зь яго карысьці, а цяпер прыгодны табе й мне.

I am sending him back to you, and with him comes my own heart.

Адсылаю табе яго, прыймі яго, як маё сэрца.

I wanted to keep him here with me while I am in these chains for preaching the Good News, and he would have helped me on your behalf.

Хацеў я затрымаць яго пры сабе, каб заміж табе, служыў мне ў кайданох за Эванэлію,

But I didn’t want to do anything without your consent. I wanted you to help because you were willing, not because you were forced.

але без твайго дазволу не хацеў гэтага рабіць, каб твая дабрадзейнасьць ня была моў з прымусу, але з вольнае волі.

It seems you lost Onesimus for a little while so that you could have him back forever.

Бо мо дзеля таго на нейкі час адыйшоў ад цябе, каб табе прыняць яго назаўсёды,

He is no longer like a slave to you. He is more than a slave, for he is a beloved brother, especially to me. Now he will mean much more to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord.

не як слугу ўжо, а вышэй за слугу: як мілага брата, асабліва для мяне, а тымбольш для цябе, як водле цела, так і ў Госпадзе.

So if you consider me your partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.

Дык, калі маеш мяне за прыяцеля, прыймі яго, як мяне.

If he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge it to me.

А калі ён спрычыніў якую шкоду табе або што вінаваты, залічы гэта мне.

I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it. And I won’t mention that you owe me your very soul!

Я, Павал, пішу гэта маёю рукою: што табе гэта адплачу, а ўжэ й казаць ня хочу аб тым, што ты сам сябе мне вінаваты.

Yes, my brother, please do me this favord for the Lord’s sake. Give me this encouragement in Christ.

Так, браце, дайжа мне скарыстаць ад цябе; заспакой мне сэрца ў Богу Усеспадару.

I am confident as I write this letter that you will do what I ask and even more!

Пішу табе гэта, спадзяючыся на тваю паслухмянасьць і ведаючы, што ты зробіш болей, чым прашу.

One more thing — please prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping that God will answer your prayers and let me return to you soon.

Падрыхтуй мне разам і гасподу ў сябе, бо спадзяюся, што дзякуючы вашым малітвам, буду вам падараваны.

Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings.

Вітае цябе Эпафрас супольны вязень зы мною ў Хрыстусе Езусе,

So do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my co-workers.

і Марак, Арыстарх, Дэмас і Лукаш памачнікі мае.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

Ласка Усеспадара Езуса Хрыстуса (хай будзе) з духам вашым. Амэн.
