Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.

Ведь вы любимые дети Божьи, поэтому уподобляйтесь Ему,

Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved usa and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

и пребывайте в любви, ибо и Христос возлюбил вас, и принес Себя в жертву за всех нас, как приношение с фимиамом, благоугодное Богу.

Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.

Пусть же, как и подобает святым, блуд, корыстолюбие и всякие пороки даже не упоминаются среди вас,

Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes — these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.

равно как вместо благожелательности недопустимы оскорбления, насмешки и сквернословие;

You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

да вы и сами, зная это, понимаете, что предавшиеся блуду, порокам или корыстолюбию, которое равносильно идолослужению, лишены наследства в Царстве Христа и Бога.

Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him.

Да не обманет вас чье-нибудь пустословие: за эти грехи на сыновей противления падет гнев Божий;

Don’t participate in the things these people do.

не становитесь же соучастниками их,

For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!

ибо прежде вы были тьмой, теперь же свет в Господе; так живите, как и подобает детям Света,

For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.

ибо праведность, истина и любое доброе дело есть плод Света,

Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.

одобряя лишь то, что благоугодно Господу;

Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.

в бесплодных же делах тьмы не только не принимайте участия, но и обличайте их,

It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.

хотя о том, что совершается втайне, стыдно и говорить,

But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them,

и, обличаемые светом, все дела (тьмы) станут видимы,

for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

ибо свет всё делает видимым, поэтому сказано: пробудись, спящий, и воскресни из мертвых, и будет светить тебе Христос.

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.

Итак, живите осмотрительно и осторожно, как подобает мудрым, а не неразумным,

Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.

дорожа временем, ибо дни (нашей жизни) обманчивы;

Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

поэтому не будьте безрассудны, но стремитесь познать, что благоугодно Господу,

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,

и не упивайтесь вином, которое несет погибель, но преисполняйтесь Духом,

singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.

назидая друг друга псалмами, славословиями и духовными песнями, воспевая и от всего сердца славя Господа,

And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

всегда за всё благодаря Бога и Отца во имя Господа нашего Иисуса Христа,

And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

повинуясь друг другу со страхом Божьим.

For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

Жены, повинуйтесь своим мужьям как Господу,

For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of his body, the church.

потому что муж глава жены, как и Христос глава и хранитель тела Церкви,

As the church submits to Christ, so you wives should submit to your husbands in everything.

но как Церковь повинуется Христу, так и жены должны во всём повиноваться мужьям.

For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her

Мужья, любите своих жен так, как и Христос любит Церковь; Он принес Себя в жертву за неё,

to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.b

чтобы освятить её, очистив водным омовением с (установленными) словами,

He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault.

и приблизить её к Себе, славную Церковь, святую и непорочную, не имеющую ни пятна, ни какого-либо другого изъяна.

In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man who loves his wife actually shows love for himself.

Поэтому и мужья должны любить своих жен как свои тела, и тот, кто любит свою жену, себя самого любит;

No one hates his own body but feeds and cares for it, just as Christ cares for the church.

никто ведь не ненавидит свою плоть, но лелеет её, и заботится о ней как и Христос о Церкви,

And we are members of his body.

потому что мы члены тела Его, (плоть) от плоти Его и от костей Его,

As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.”c

а потому оставит человек отца и мать и соединится с женой своей, и будут они двоем единой плотью.

This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one.

Это великая тайна я говорю о Христе и о Церкви

So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

что же касается вас, то каждый должен любить свою жену как самого себя, а жена уважать своего мужа.
