Then David fled from Naioth in Ramah and came and said before Jonathan, “What have I done? What is my guilt? And what is my sin before your father, that he seeks my life?”

И҆ ѿбѣжѐ даві́дъ ѿ наѵа́ѳа (и҆́же) въ ра́мѣ и҆ прїи́де ко ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѹ и҆ речѐ: что̀ сотвори́хъ; и҆ что̀ непра́вда моѧ̀; и҆ что̀ согрѣши́хъ пред̾ ѻ҆тце́мъ твои́мъ, ѩ҆́кѡ и҆́щетъ дѹшѝ моеѧ̀;

And he said to him, “Far from it! You shall not die. Behold, my father does nothing either great or small without disclosing it to me. And why should my father hide this from me? It is not so.”

И҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ: ника́коже, ты̀ не ѹ҆́мреши: сѐ, не и҆́мать сотвори́ти ѻ҆те́цъ мо́й глаго́ла вели́ка, и҆лѝ ма́ла, и҆ не ѿкры́етъ ѹ҆́ха моегѡ̀: и҆ что̀ ѩ҆́кѡ скры́етъ ѻ҆те́цъ мо́й глаго́лъ се́й ѿ менє̀; не бѹ́ди сїѐ.

But David vowed again, saying, “Your father knows well that I have found favor in your eyes, and he thinks, ‘Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved.’ But truly, as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.”

И҆ ѿвѣща̀ даві́дъ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѹ и҆ речѐ: вѣ́даѧ вѣ́даетъ ѻ҆те́цъ тво́й, ѩ҆́кѡ ѡ҆брѣто́хъ благода́ть пред̾ ѻ҆чи́ма твои́ма, и҆ глаго́летъ: да не позна́етъ сегѡ̀ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ, не́гли не восхо́щетъ: но жи́въ гд҇ь и҆ жива̀ дѹша̀ твоѧ̀, занѐ ѩ҆́коже реко́хъ, и҆спо́лнисѧ междѹ̀ мно́ю и҆ междѹ̀ ѻ҆тце́мъ твои́мъ да́же до сме́рти.

Then Jonathan said to David, “Whatever you say, I will do for you.”

И҆ речѐ па́ки ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ къ даві́дѹ: чесогѡ̀ жела́етъ дѹша̀ твоѧ̀, и҆ что̀ сотворю̀ тебѣ̀;

David said to Jonathan, “Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit at table with the king. But let me go, that I may hide myself in the field till the third day at evening.

И҆ речѐ даві́дъ ко ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѹ: сѐ, новомч҇їе заѹ́тра, и҆ а҆́зъ сѣдѧ̀ не сѧ́дѹ съ царе́мъ ѩ҆́сти, и҆ по́слеши мѧ̀, и҆ скры́юсѧ на по́ли до ве́чера днѐ тре́тїѧгѡ:

If your father misses me at all, then say, ‘David earnestly asked leave of me to run to Bethlehem his city, for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the clan.’

и҆ а҆́ще смотрѧ̀ ѹ҆смо́тритъ мѧ̀ ѻ҆те́цъ тво́й, и҆ рече́ши: просѧ̀ ѹ҆проси́сѧ ѿ менє̀ даві́дъ ѿитѝ до виѳлее́ма гра́да своегѡ̀, ѩ҆́кѡ же́ртва дні́й та́мѡ всемѹ̀ пле́мени:

If he says, ‘Good!’ it will be well with your servant, but if he is angry, then know that harm is determined by him.

а҆́ще та́кѡ рече́тъ: бла́го: ми́ръ рабѹ̀ твоемѹ̀: а҆́ще же же́стокѡ ѿвѣща́етъ тебѣ̀, разѹмѣ́й, ѩ҆́кѡ соверши́сѧ ѕло́ба ѿ негѡ̀:

Therefore deal kindly with your servant, for you have brought your servant into a covenant of the Lord with you. But if there is guilt in me, kill me yourself, for why should you bring me to your father?”

и҆ да сотвори́ши ми́лость съ рабо́мъ твои́мъ, ѩ҆́кѡ вве́лъ є҆сѝ въ завѣ́тъ гд҇ень раба̀ твоего̀ съ собо́ю: и҆ а҆́ще є҆́сть непра́вда въ рабѣ̀ твое́мъ, ѹ҆мертви́ мѧ ты̀, а҆ ко ѻ҆тцѹ̀ твоемѹ̀ почто̀ та́кѡ и҆́маши мѧ̀ вводи́ти;

And Jonathan said, “Far be it from you! If I knew that it was determined by my father that harm should come to you, would I not tell you?”

И҆ речѐ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ: ника́коже (бѹ́ди) тебѣ̀: є҆гда̀ а҆́ще разѹмѣва́ѧ ѹ҆разѹмѣ́ю, ѩ҆́кѡ соверши́сѧ ѕло́ба ѻ҆тца̀ моегѡ̀, є҆́же прїитѝ на тебѐ, а҆́ще и҆ не бѹ́деши во градѣ́хъ твои́хъ, а҆́зъ возвѣщѹ̀ тебѣ̀.

Then David said to Jonathan, “Who will tell me if your father answers you roughly?”

И҆ речѐ даві́дъ ко ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѹ: кто̀ возвѣсти́тъ мѝ, а҆́ще ѿвѣща́етъ ѻ҆те́цъ тво́й же́стокѡ;

And Jonathan said to David, “Come, let us go out into the field.” So they both went out into the field.

И҆ речѐ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ къ даві́дѹ: и҆дѝ, и҆ пребѹ́ди на по́ли. И҆ и҆до́ста ѻ҆́ба на по́ле.

And Jonathan said to David, “The Lord, the God of Israel, be witness!a When I have sounded out my father, about this time tomorrow, or the third day, behold, if he is well disposed toward David, shall I not then send and disclose it to you?

И҆ речѐ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ къ даві́дѹ: гд҇ь бг҃ъ ї҆и҃левъ вѣ́сть, ѩ҆́кѡ и҆скѹшѹ̀ ѻ҆тца̀ моего̀ во вре́мѧ (сїѐ) заѹ́тра, и҆лѝ тре́тїѧгѡ днѐ, и҆ сїѐ, а҆́ще бла́го бѹ́детъ ѡ҆ даві́дѣ, и҆ не и҆́мамъ посла́ти къ тебѣ̀ на по́ле и҆ возвѣсти́ти сїѧ҄ во ѹ҆́шы твоѝ:

But should it please my father to do you harm, the Lord do so to Jonathan and more also if I do not disclose it to you and send you away, that you may go in safety. May the Lord be with you, as he has been with my father.

сїѧ҄ да сотвори́тъ бг҃ъ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѹ и҆ сїѧ҄ да приложи́тъ, а҆́ще не возвѣщѹ̀ ѕла҄ѧ на тѧ̀, и҆ ѿкры́ю ѹ҆́хо твоѐ, и҆ ѿпѹщѹ̀ тѧ̀, и҆ ѿи́деши въ ми́рѣ: и҆ бѹ́детъ гд҇ь съ тобо́ю, ѩ҆́коже бѣ̀ со ѻ҆тце́мъ мои́мъ:

If I am still alive, show me the steadfast love of the Lord, that I may not die;

и҆ а҆́ще ѹ҆́бѡ є҆щѐ жи́въ бѹ́дѹ а҆́зъ, да сотвори́ши ми́лость со мно́ю:

and do not cut offb your steadfast love from my house forever, when the Lord cuts off every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth.”

и҆ а҆́ще сме́ртїю ѹ҆мрѹ̀, да не ѿи́меши ми́лости твоеѧ̀ ѿ до́мѹ моегѡ̀ до вѣ́ка:

And Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, “Mayc the Lord take vengeance on David’s enemies.”

а҆́ще же нѝ, є҆гда̀ и҆скорени́тъ гд҇ь врагѝ даві́дѡвы, коего́ждо ѿ лица̀ землѝ, да ѡ҆брѧ́щетсѧ и҆́мѧ ї҆ѡнаѳа́не въ домѹ̀ даві́довѣ, и҆ и҆зы́щетъ гд҇ь врагѝ даві́дѡвы.

And Jonathan made David swear again by his love for him, for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

И҆ приложѝ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ є҆щѐ клѧ́тисѧ даві́дѹ, ѩ҆́кѡ возлюбѝ дѹ́шѹ лю́бѧщагѡ є҆го̀.

Then Jonathan said to him, “Tomorrow is the new moon, and you will be missed, because your seat will be empty.

И҆ речѐ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ къ немѹ̀: заѹ́тра новомч҇їе, и҆ присмо́тренъ бѹ́деши, ѩ҆́кѡ пра́здно ѹ҆смо́трено бѹ́детъ мѣ́сто твоѐ:

On the third day go down quickly to the place where you hid yourself when the matter was in hand, and remain beside the stone heap.d

ты́ же преме́длиши трѝ дни҄ и҆ пребѹ́деши на мѣ́стѣ твое́мъ, и҆дѣ́же скры́ешисѧ въ де́нь дѣ́ланїѧ, и҆ сѧ́деши при є҆рга́вѣ ѻ҆́нѣмъ:

And I will shoot three arrows to the side of it, as though I shot at a mark.

и҆ а҆́зъ ѹ҆тро́ю стрѣла́ми стрѣлѧ́ѧ, и҆ стрѣлю̀ верга́ѧ до а҆магга́рїа:

And behold, I will send the boy, saying, ‘Go, find the arrows.’ If I say to the boy, ‘Look, the arrows are on this side of you, take them,’ then you are to come, for, as the Lord lives, it is safe for you and there is no danger.

и҆ сѐ, послю̀ ѻ҆́трока, глаго́лѧ: и҆дѝ и҆ ѡ҆брѧ́щи мѝ стрѣлѹ̀: и҆ а҆́ще рекѹ̀ ѻ҆́трокѹ: здѣ̀ стрѣла̀ ѿ тебє̀, и҆ здѣ̀, возмѝ ю҆̀: и҆ ты̀ грѧдѝ ко мнѣ̀, ѩ҆́кѡ ми́ръ тебѣ̀, и҆ нѣ́сть ѡ҆ тебѣ̀ сло́ва, жи́въ гд҇ь:

But if I say to the youth, ‘Look, the arrows are beyond you,’ then go, for the Lord has sent you away.

а҆́ще же та́кѡ рекѹ̀ ю҆́ноши: та́мѡ стрѣла̀ ѿ тебє̀ и҆ да́лѣе: и҆дѝ, ѩ҆́кѡ ѿсла́ тѧ гд҇ь:

And as for the matter of which you and I have spoken, behold, the Lord is between you and me forever.”

и҆ глаго́лъ є҆го́же а҆́зъ и҆ ты̀ глаго́лахомъ, сѐ, гд҇ь свидѣ́тель междѹ̀ тобо́ю и҆ мно́ю до вѣ́ка.

So David hid himself in the field. And when the new moon came, the king sat down to eat food.

И҆ скры́сѧ даві́дъ на по́ли, и҆ прїи́де новомч҇їе, и҆ прїи́де ца́рь на трапе́зѹ ѩ҆́сти,

The king sat on his seat, as at other times, on the seat by the wall. Jonathan sat opposite,e and Abner sat by Saul’s side, but David’s place was empty.

и҆ сѣ́де ца́рь на мѣ́стѣ свое́мъ ѩ҆́коже и҆ всегда̀ на престо́лѣ при стѣнѣ̀, и҆ предварѝ ї҆ѡнаѳа́на, и҆ сѣ́де а҆вени́ръ ѿ страны̀ саѹ́ловы, и҆ ѹ҆смо́трено бы́сть (пра́здно) мѣ́сто даві́дово.

Yet Saul did not say anything that day, for he thought, “Something has happened to him. He is not clean; surely he is not clean.”

И҆ не глаго́ла саѹ́лъ ничто́же въ то́й де́нь, помы́сли бо, слѹ́чай ви́дитсѧ, нечи́стѹ бы́ти, ѩ҆́кѡ не ѡ҆чи́стисѧ.

But on the second day, the day after the new moon, David’s place was empty. And Saul said to Jonathan his son, “Why has not the son of Jesse come to the meal, either yesterday or today?”

И҆ бы́сть наѹ́трїе мц҇а въ де́нь вторы́й, и҆ ѹ҆смо́трено бы́сть пра́здно мѣ́сто даві́дово, и҆ речѐ саѹ́лъ ко ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѹ сы́нѹ своемѹ̀: что̀ ѩ҆́кѡ не прїи́де сы́нъ ї҆ессе́евъ ни вчера̀, ни дне́сь на трапе́зѹ;

Jonathan answered Saul, “David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem.

И҆ ѿвѣща̀ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ къ саѹ́лѹ и҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀: ѹ҆проси́сѧ ѿ менє̀ даві́дъ до виѳлее́ма гра́да своегѡ̀ и҆тѝ,

He said, ‘Let me go, for our clan holds a sacrifice in the city, and my brother has commanded me to be there. So now, if I have found favor in your eyes, let me get away and see my brothers.’ For this reason he has not come to the king’s table.”

и҆ речѐ: ѿпѹсти́ мѧ нн҃ѣ (въ виѳлее́мъ), ѩ҆́кѡ же́ртва колѣ́на на́шегѡ во гра́дѣ, и҆ заповѣ́даша мнѣ̀ бра́тїѧ моѧ҄: и҆ нн҃ѣ а҆́ще ѡ҆брѣто́хъ благода́ть пред̾ ѻ҆чи́ма твои́ма, да пойдѹ̀ нн҃ѣ и҆ ѹ҆зрю̀ бра́тїю мою̀: сегѡ̀ ра́ди не прїи́де на трапе́зѹ царе́вѹ.

Then Saul’s anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said to him, “You son of a perverse, rebellious woman, do I not know that you have chosen the son of Jesse to your own shame, and to the shame of your mother’s nakedness?

И҆ разгнѣ́васѧ гнѣ́вомъ саѹ́лъ на ї҆ѡнаѳа́на ѕѣлѡ̀ и҆ речѐ є҆мѹ̀: сы́не дѣ́вѡкъ блѹдни́цъ, не вѣ́мъ ли, ѩ҆́кѡ соѡ́бщникъ є҆сѝ ты̀ сы́нѹ ї҆ессе́евѹ въ срамотѹ̀ твою̀ и҆ въ срамотѹ̀ ѿкрове́нїѧ ма́тере твоеѧ̀;

For as long as the son of Jesse lives on the earth, neither you nor your kingdom shall be established. Therefore send and bring him to me, for he shall surely die.”

ѩ҆́кѡ во всѧ҄ дни҄, въ нѧ́же сы́нъ ї҆ессе́евъ жи́ти и҆́мать на землѝ, не ѹ҆гото́витсѧ ца́рство твоѐ: нн҃ѣ ѹ҆̀бо посла́въ, поимѝ ю҆́ношѹ, ѩ҆́кѡ сы́нъ сме́рти є҆́сть се́й.

Then Jonathan answered Saul his father, “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?”

И҆ ѿвѣща̀ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ саѹ́лѹ ѻ҆тцѹ̀ своемѹ̀ и҆ речѐ: за что̀ ѹ҆мира́етъ; что̀ сотворѝ;

But Saul hurled his spear at him to strike him. So Jonathan knew that his father was determined to put David to death.

И҆ ве́рже саѹ́лъ копїе́мъ на ї҆ѡнаѳа́на, є҆́же ѹ҆мертви́ти є҆го̀. И҆ позна̀ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ, ѩ҆́кѡ соверши́сѧ ѕло́ба сїѧ҄ ѿ ѻ҆тца̀ є҆гѡ̀, да ѹ҆мертви́тъ даві́да:

And Jonathan rose from the table in fierce anger and ate no food the second day of the month, for he was grieved for David, because his father had disgraced him.

и҆ вскочѝ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ ѿ трапе́зы во гнѣ́вѣ ѩ҆́рости, и҆ не ѩ҆дѐ хлѣ́ба въ де́нь вторы́й мц҇а, ѩ҆́кѡ сокрѹши́сѧ ѡ҆ даві́дѣ, занѐ совершѝ (ѕло́бѹ) на него̀ ѻ҆те́цъ є҆гѡ̀.

In the morning Jonathan went out into the field to the appointment with David, and with him a little boy.

И҆ бы́сть заѹ́тра, и҆ и҆зы́де ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ на село̀, ѩ҆́коже совѣща́сѧ ѡ҆ свидѣ́нїи съ даві́домъ, и҆ ѻ҆́трокъ ма́лъ съ ни́мъ.

And he said to his boy, “Run and find the arrows that I shoot.” As the boy ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.

И҆ речѐ ѻ҆́трокѹ: тецы̀, и҆ ѡ҆брѧ́щи мѝ стрѣ́лы, и҆́миже а҆́зъ стрѣлѧ́ю. И҆ ѻ҆́трокъ течѐ, и҆ ѻ҆́нъ стрѣлѝ стрѣло́ю за него̀.

And when the boy came to the place of the arrow that Jonathan had shot, Jonathan called after the boy and said, “Is not the arrow beyond you?”

И҆ прїи́де ѻ҆́трокъ до мѣ́ста стрѣлы̀, и҆дѣ́же стрѣли́лъ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ. И҆ возопѝ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ в̾слѣ́дъ ѻ҆́трока и҆ речѐ: та́мѡ стрѣла̀ ѿ тебє̀ и҆ да́лѣе.

And Jonathan called after the boy, “Hurry! Be quick! Do not stay!” So Jonathan’s boy gathered up the arrows and came to his master.

И҆ па́ки возопѝ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ в̾слѣ́дъ ѻ҆́трока своегѡ̀, глаго́лѧ: потщи́сѧ ско́рѡ, и҆ не сто́й. И҆ собра̀ ѻ҆́трокъ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѹ стрѣ́лы и҆ принесѐ и҆̀хъ къ господи́нѹ своемѹ̀.

But the boy knew nothing. Only Jonathan and David knew the matter.

Ѻ҆́трокъ же не ѹ҆вѣ́дѣ ничесѡ́же, то́кмѡ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ и҆ даві́дъ вѣ́дѣста ве́щь.

And Jonathan gave his weapons to his boy and said to him, “Go and carry them to the city.”

И҆ ѿда̀ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ ѻ҆рѹ́жїе своѐ ѻ҆́трокѹ своемѹ̀ и҆ речѐ ѻ҆́трокѹ своемѹ̀: поидѝ и҆ ѿнесѝ во гра́дъ.

And as soon as the boy had gone, David rose from beside the stone heapf and fell on his face to the ground and bowed three times. And they kissed one another and wept with one another, David weeping the most.

И҆ є҆гда̀ ѿи́де ѻ҆́трокъ, и҆ даві́дъ воста̀ ѿ є҆рга́ва, и҆ падѐ на лицѐ своѐ, и҆ поклони́сѧ є҆мѹ̀ три́жды, и҆ ѡ҆блобыза̀ кі́йждо дрѹ́гъ дрѹ́га, и҆ пла́касѧ кі́йждо ѡ҆ дрѹ́гъ дрѹ́зѣ до сконча́нїѧ вели́ка.

Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, because we have sworn both of us in the name of the Lord, saying, ‘The Lord shall be between me and you, and between my offspring and your offspring, forever.’” And he rose and departed, and Jonathan went into the city.g

И҆ речѐ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ даві́дѹ: и҆дѝ съ ми́ромъ, и҆ ѩ҆́коже клѧ́хомсѧ мы̀ ѻ҆́ба и҆́менемъ гд҇нимъ, глаго́люще: гд҇ь да бѹ́детъ свидѣ́тель междѹ̀ мно́ю и҆ тобо́ю и҆ междѹ̀ сѣ́менемъ мои́мъ и҆ междѹ̀ сѣ́менемъ твои́мъ до вѣ́ка.
