Now Samuel died. And all Israel assembled and mourned for him, and they buried him in his house at Ramah. David and Abigail Then David rose and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

И҆ ѹ҆́мре самѹи́лъ, и҆ собра́шасѧ ве́сь ї҆и҃ль, и҆ пла́кашасѧ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ погребо́ша є҆го̀ въ до́мѹ є҆гѡ̀ во а҆рмаѳе́мѣ. И҆ воста̀ даві́дъ, и҆ сни́де въ пѹсты́ню маѡ́ню.

And there was a man in Maon whose business was in Carmel. The man was very rich; he had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. He was shearing his sheep in Carmel.

И҆ бѣ̀ человѣ́къ въ маѡ́нѣ и҆ стада̀ є҆гѡ̀ на карми́лѣ, и҆ человѣ́къ вели́къ ѕѣлѡ̀: и҆ семѹ̀ ѻ҆ве́цъ трѝ ты́сѧщы и҆ ко́зъ ты́сѧща: и҆ бы́сть є҆гда̀ стрижа́ше стада̀ своѧ҄ на карми́лѣ:

Now the name of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail. The woman was discerning and beautiful, but the man was harsh and badly behaved; he was a Calebite.

и҆́мѧ же человѣ́кѹ нава́лъ и҆ и҆́мѧ женѣ̀ є҆гѡ̀ а҆вїге́а: и҆ жена̀ є҆гѡ̀ блага̀ смы́сломъ и҆ добра̀ взо́ромъ ѕѣлѡ̀, мѹ́жъ же є҆ѧ̀ человѣ́къ же́стокъ и҆ лѹка́въ въ начина́нїихъ и҆ человѣ́къ ѕвѣронра́венъ.

David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his sheep.

И҆ ѹ҆слы́ша даві́дъ въ пѹсты́ни, ѩ҆́кѡ стриже́тъ нава́лъ на карми́лѣ стада̀ своѧ҄.

So David sent ten young men. And David said to the young men, “Go up to Carmel, and go to Nabal and greet him in my name.

И҆ посла̀ даві́дъ де́сѧть ѻ҆трокѡ́въ и҆ речѐ ѻ҆трокѡ́мъ: взы́дите на карми́лъ и҆ и҆ди́те къ нава́лѹ и҆ вопроси́те є҆го̀ и҆́менемъ мои́мъ съ ми́ромъ,

And thus you shall greet him: ‘Peace be to you, and peace be to your house, and peace be to all that you have.

и҆ рцы́те сїѧ҄: здра́въ ли є҆сѝ ты̀ и҆ до́мъ тво́й, и҆ всѧ҄ твоѧ҄ здра́ва ли сѹ́ть;

I hear that you have shearers. Now your shepherds have been with us, and we did them no harm, and they missed nothing all the time they were in Carmel.

и҆ нн҃ѣ сѐ, ѹ҆слы́шахъ, ѩ҆́кѡ стригѹ́тъ тебѣ̀ нн҃ѣ пастѹсѝ твоѝ, и҆̀же бѣ́ша съ на́ми въ пѹсты́ни, и҆ не возбрани́хомъ и҆̀мъ, и҆ не повелѣ́хомъ и҆̀мъ ничесѡ́же во всѧ҄ дни҄, є҆гда̀ бѣ́ша на карми́лѣ:

Ask your young men, and they will tell you. Therefore let my young men find favor in your eyes, for we come on a feast day. Please give whatever you have at hand to your servants and to your son David.’”

вопросѝ ѻ҆трокѡ́въ твои́хъ и҆ возвѣстѧ́тъ тѝ: и҆ да ѡ҆брѧ́щѹтъ ѻ҆́троцы твоѝ благода́ть пред̾ ѻ҆чи́ма твои́ма, ѩ҆́кѡ въ де́нь бла́гъ прїидо́хомъ: да́ждь ѹ҆̀бо нн҃ѣ є҆́же ѡ҆брѧ́щетъ рѹка̀ твоѧ̀ ѻ҆трокѡ́мъ твои҄мъ и҆ сы́нѹ твоемѹ̀ даві́дѹ.

When David’s young men came, they said all this to Nabal in the name of David, and then they waited.

И҆ прїидо́ша ѻ҆́троцы даві́дѡвы и҆ глаго́лаша словеса̀ сїѧ҄ къ нава́лѹ, по всѣ҄мъ глаго́лѡмъ си҄мъ и҆́менемъ даві́довымъ.

And Nabal answered David’s servants, “Who is David? Who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants these days who are breaking away from their masters.

И҆ возскочѝ нава́лъ и҆ ѿвѣща̀ ѻ҆трокѡ́мъ даві́дѡвымъ и҆ речѐ: кто̀ даві́дъ; и҆ кто̀ сы́нъ ї҆ессе́овъ; дне́сь ѹ҆мно́жени сѹ́ть рабѝ ѿходѧ́ще кі́йждо ѿ лица̀ господи́на своегѡ̀:

Shall I take my bread and my water and my meat that I have killed for my shearers and give it to men who come from I do not know where?”

и҆ возмѹ́ ли хлѣ́бы моѧ҄ и҆ вїно̀ моѐ и҆ закла҄наѧ моѧ҄, ѩ҆̀же закла́хъ стригѹ́щымъ моѧ҄ ѻ҆́вцы, и҆ да́мъ ли ѡ҆́наѧ мѹжє́мъ, и҆́хже не вѣ́мъ ѿкѹ́дѹ сѹ́ть;

So David’s young men turned away and came back and told him all this.

И҆ возврати́шасѧ ѻ҆́троцы даві́дѡвы пѹте́мъ свои́мъ, и҆ возвра́щшесѧ прїидо́ша и҆ возвѣсти́ша даві́дѹ по глаго́лѡмъ си҄мъ.

And David said to his men, “Every man strap on his sword!” And every man of them strapped on his sword. David also strapped on his sword. And about four hundred men went up after David, while two hundred remained with the baggage.

И҆ речѐ даві́дъ мѹжє́мъ свои҄мъ: препоѧ́шитесѧ кі́йждо ѻ҆рѹ́жїемъ свои́мъ. И҆ препоѧ́сашасѧ ѻ҆рѹ́жїемъ свои́мъ, и҆ са́мъ даві́дъ препоѧ́сасѧ мече́мъ свои́мъ, и҆ и҆до́ша в̾слѣ́дъ даві́да, ѩ҆́кѡ четы́реста мѹже́й, а҆ двѣ́сти и҆́хъ ѡ҆ста́шасѧ ѹ҆ сосѹ́дѡвъ.

But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, “Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to greet our master, and he railed at them.

И҆ а҆вїге́и женѣ̀ нава́ловѣ повѣ́да є҆ди́нъ ѻ҆́трокъ, глаго́лѧ: сѐ, присыла̀ даві́дъ послы̀ ѿ пѹсты́ни благослови́ти господи́на на́шего, ѻ҆́нъ же ѿврати́сѧ ѿ ни́хъ:

Yet the men were very good to us, and we suffered no harm, and we did not miss anything when we were in the fields, as long as we went with them.

мѹ́жїе же бла́зи (бѣ́ша) на́мъ ѕѣлѡ̀, не возбранѧ́хѹ на́мъ, нижѐ повелѣва́хѹ на́мъ что̀ во всѧ҄ дни҄, въ нѧ́же бѣ́хомъ съ ни́ми:

They were a wall to us both by night and by day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.

и҆ сѹ́щымъ на́мъ на селѣ̀, а҆́ки стѣна̀ бѣ́ша ѡ҆́крестъ на́съ, и҆ въ нощѝ и҆ во днѝ, по всѧ҄ дни҄ въ нѧ́же бѣ́хомъ съ ни́ми пасѹ́ще стада̀:

Now therefore know this and consider what you should do, for harm is determined against our master and against all his house, and he is such a worthless man that one cannot speak to him.”

и҆ нн҃ѣ разѹмѣ́й и҆ ви́ждь ты̀, что̀ сотвори́ши, ѩ҆́кѡ соверши́сѧ ѕло́ба на господи́на на́шего и҆ на до́мъ є҆гѡ̀, и҆ се́й сы́нъ гѹби́тель, и҆ не возмо́жно глаго́лати къ немѹ̀.

Then Abigail made haste and took two hundred loaves and two skins of wine and five sheep already prepared and five seahsa of parched grain and a hundred clusters of raisins and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on donkeys.

И҆ потща́сѧ а҆вїге́а, и҆ взѧ̀ двѣ́сти хлѣ́бѡвъ и҆ два̀ сосѹ҄да вїна̀ и҆ пѧ́ть ѻ҆ве́цъ ѹ҆стро́еныхъ и҆ пѧ́ть мѣ́ръ мѹкѝ чи́стыѧ и҆ ко́шницѹ гро́здїѧ и҆ двѣ́сти вѧ́заницъ смо́квей, и҆ возложѝ на ѻ҆слѧ́та,

And she said to her young men, “Go on before me; behold, I come after you.” But she did not tell her husband Nabal.

и҆ речѐ ко ѻ҆трокѡ́мъ свои҄мъ: поиди́те предо мно́ю, и҆ сѐ, а҆́зъ в̾слѣ́дъ ва́съ и҆дѹ̀. Мѹ́жѹ же своемѹ̀ не возвѣстѝ.

And as she rode on the donkey and came down under cover of the mountain, behold, David and his men came down toward her, and she met them.

И҆ бы́сть, всѣ́дшей є҆́й на ѻ҆сли́цѹ и҆ сходѧ́щей въ подго́рїе, и҆ сѐ, даві́дъ и҆ мѹ́жїе є҆гѡ̀ и҆дѧ́хѹ сопроти́вѹ є҆ѧ̀, и҆ срѣ́те и҆̀хъ.

Now David had said, “Surely in vain have I guarded all that this fellow has in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that belonged to him, and he has returned me evil for good.

И҆ речѐ даві́дъ: вои́стиннѹ всѹ́е всѧ҄ нава́лѡва сохрани́хъ въ пѹсты́ни, и҆ ничесо́же повелѣ́хъ взѧ́ти ѿ всѣ́хъ ѩ҆̀же є҆гѡ̀, и҆ воздаде́ ми ѕла҄ѧ за блага҄ѧ:

God do so to the enemies of Davidb and more also, if by morning I leave so much as one male of all who belong to him.”

сїѧ҄ да сотвори́тъ бг҃ъ даві́дѹ и҆ сїѧ҄ да приложи́тъ, а҆́ще до ѹ҆́тра ѡ҆ста́влю ѿ всѣ́хъ нава́ловыхъ да́же до моча́щагѡсѧ къ стѣнѣ̀.

When Abigail saw David, she hurried and got down from the donkey and fell before David on her face and bowed to the ground.

И҆ ѹ҆ви́дѣ а҆вїге́а даві́да, и҆ потща́сѧ и҆ скочѝ со ѻ҆слѧ́те, и҆ падѐ пред̾ даві́домъ на лицѐ своѐ, и҆ поклони́сѧ є҆мѹ̀ до землѝ,

She fell at his feet and said, “On me alone, my lord, be the guilt. Please let your servant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your servant.

и҆ падѐ на но́ги є҆гѡ̀ и҆ речѐ: во мнѣ̀, господи́не мо́й, непра́вда моѧ̀: да глаго́летъ нн҃ѣ раба̀ твоѧ̀ во ѹ҆́шы твоѝ, и҆ послѹ́шай слове́съ рабы̀ твоеѧ̀:

Let not my lord regard this worthless fellow, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabalc is his name, and folly is with him. But I your servant did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent.

да не возложи́тъ нн҃ѣ господи́нъ мо́й се́рдца своегѡ̀ на человѣ́ка ги́белнаго сего̀, ѩ҆́кѡ по и҆́мени своемѹ̀ то́й є҆́сть: нава́лъ и҆́мѧ є҆мѹ̀, и҆ безѹ́мїе съ ни́мъ: а҆́зъ же раба̀ твоѧ̀ не ви́дѣхъ ѻ҆трокѡ́въ господи́на моегѡ̀, и҆̀хже посла́лъ є҆сѝ:

Now then, my lord, as the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, because the Lord has restrained you from bloodguilt and from saving with your own hand, now then let your enemies and those who seek to do evil to my lord be as Nabal.

и҆ нн҃ѣ, господи́не мо́й, жи́въ гд҇ь и҆ жива̀ дѹша̀ твоѧ̀, ѩ҆́коже возбранѝ тебѣ̀ гд҇ь є҆́же не прїитѝ на кро́вь непови́ннѹ и҆ спастѝ тебѣ̀ рѹ́кѹ твою̀: и҆ нн҃ѣ да бѹ́дѹтъ ѩ҆́коже нава́лъ вразѝ твоѝ и҆ и҆́щѹщїи господи́нѹ моемѹ̀ ѕла̀:

And now let this present that your servant has brought to my lord be given to the young men who follow my lord.

и҆ нн҃ѣ возмѝ благослове́нїе сїѐ, є҆́же принесѐ раба̀ твоѧ̀ господи́нѹ моемѹ̀, и҆ да́ждь ѻ҆трокѡ́мъ предстоѧ́щымъ господи́нѹ моемѹ̀:

Please forgive the trespass of your servant. For the Lord will certainly make my lord a sure house, because my lord is fighting the battles of the Lord, and evil shall not be found in you so long as you live.

ѿимѝ нн҃ѣ непра́вдѹ рабы̀ твоеѧ̀, ѩ҆́кѡ творѧ̀ сотвори́тъ гд҇ь до́мъ вѣ́ренъ господи́нѹ моемѹ̀, ѩ҆́кѡ на бра́ни господи́на моегѡ̀ гд҇ь спобо́ретъ, и҆ ѕло́ба не ѡ҆брѧ́щетсѧ въ тебѣ̀ никогда́же:

If men rise up to pursue you and to seek your life, the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living in the care of the Lord your God. And the lives of your enemies he shall sling out as from the hollow of a sling.

и҆ а҆́ще воста́нетъ человѣ́къ гонѧ́й тѧ̀ и҆ и҆ща́й дѹшѝ твоеѧ̀, и҆ бѹ́детъ дѹша̀ господи́на моегѡ̀ привѧ́зана соѹ́зомъ жи́зни ѹ҆ гд҇а бг҃а, и҆ дѹ́шѹ врагѡ́въ твои́хъ порази́ши пра́щею посредѣ̀ пра́щи:

And when the Lord has done to my lord according to all the good that he has spoken concerning you and has appointed you princed over Israel,

и҆ бѹ́детъ є҆гда̀ сотвори́тъ гд҇ь господи́нѹ моемѹ̀ всѧ҄, є҆ли҄ка гл҃аше блага҄ѧ ѡ҆ тебѣ̀, и҆ повели́тъ тебѣ̀ гд҇ь (бы́ти) вожде́мъ во ї҆и҃ли,

my lord shall have no cause of grief or pangs of conscience for having shed blood without cause or for my lord working salvation himself. And when the Lord has dealt well with my lord, then remember your servant.”

и҆ не бѹ́детъ тебѣ̀ сїѐ ме́рзость и҆ собла́знъ се́рдцѹ господи́на моегѡ̀, є҆́же и҆злїѧ́ти кро́вь непови́ннѹю тѹ́не и҆ спастѝ рѹ́кѹ свою̀ себѣ̀: и҆ да бла́го сотвори́тъ гд҇ь господи́нѹ моемѹ̀, и҆ воспомѧне́ши рабѹ̀ твою̀, є҆́же благосотвори́ти є҆́й.

And David said to Abigail, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me!

И҆ речѐ даві́дъ ко а҆вїге́и: блг҇ве́нъ гд҇ь бг҃ъ ї҆и҃левъ, и҆́же посла́ тѧ дне́сь на срѣ́тенїе мѝ,

Blessed be your discretion, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodguilt and from working salvation with my own hand!

и҆ благослове́нъ совѣ́тъ тво́й, и҆ благослове́на ты̀ ѹ҆держа́вшаѧ мѧ̀ въ де́нь се́й и҆тѝ на проли́тїе кро́ве, и҆ спасти́ ми рѹ́кѹ мою̀:

For as surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, who has restrained me from hurting you, unless you had hurried and come to meet me, truly by morning there had not been left to Nabal so much as one male.”

ѻ҆ба́че жи́въ гд҇ь бг҃ъ ї҆и҃левъ, и҆́же возбрани́ ми дне́сь ѕло̀ сотвори́ти тебѣ̀: занѐ а҆́ще бы не потща́ласѧ и҆ не пришла̀ є҆сѝ на срѣ́тенїе мнѣ̀, тогда̀ рѣ́хъ: а҆́ще ѡ҆ста́нетсѧ нава́лѹ до ѹ҆́треннѧгѡ свѣ́та моча́щїйсѧ къ стѣнѣ̀.

Then David received from her hand what she had brought him. And he said to her, “Go up in peace to your house. See, I have obeyed your voice, and I have granted your petition.”

И҆ прїѧ̀ даві́дъ ѿ рѹкѹ̀ є҆ѧ̀ всѧ҄, ѩ҆̀же принесѐ є҆мѹ̀, и҆ речѐ є҆́й: и҆дѝ съ ми́ромъ въ до́мъ сво́й: ви́ждь, послѹ́шахъ гла́са твоегѡ̀ и҆ прїѧ́хъ лицѐ твоѐ.

And Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk. So she told him nothing at all until the morning light.

И҆ прїи́де а҆вїге́а къ нава́лѹ: и҆ сѐ, ѹ҆ негѡ̀ пи́ръ въ домѹ̀ є҆гѡ̀, ѩ҆́кѡ пи́ръ царе́въ: и҆ се́рдце нава́лово ве́село въ не́мъ, и҆ то́й пїѧ́нъ до ѕѣла̀. И҆ не возвѣстѝ а҆вїге́а нава́лѹ глаго́ла ни вели́ка ни ма́ла до свѣ́та ѹ҆́треннѧгѡ.

In the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.

И҆ бы́сть заѹ́тра, є҆гда̀ и҆стрезви́сѧ нава́лъ ѿ вїна̀, повѣ́да є҆мѹ̀ жена̀ є҆гѡ̀ всѧ҄ глаго́лы сїѧ҄, и҆ ѹ҆́мре се́рдце є҆гѡ̀ въ не́мъ, и҆ то́й бы́сть ѩ҆́кѡ ка́мень.

And about ten days later the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.

И҆ бы́сть ѩ҆́кѡ де́сѧть дні́й, и҆ поразѝ гд҇ь нава́ла, и҆ ѹ҆́мре.

When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Blessed be the Lord who has avenged the insult I received at the hand of Nabal, and has kept back his servant from wrongdoing. The Lord has returned the evil of Nabal on his own head.” Then David sent and spoke to Abigail, to take her as his wife.

И҆ ѹ҆слы́ша даві́дъ и҆ речѐ: блг҇ве́нъ гд҇ь, и҆́же сѹдѝ сѹ́дъ поноше́нїѧ моегѡ̀ ѿ рѹкѝ нава́ли, и҆ раба̀ своего̀ ѹ҆держа̀ ѿ рѹкѝ ѕлы́хъ, и҆ ѕло́бѹ нава́лю ѡ҆братѝ гд҇ь на главѹ̀ є҆гѡ̀. И҆ посла̀ даві́дъ и҆ глаго́ла ко а҆вїге́и поѧ́ти ю҆̀ себѣ̀ въ женѹ̀.

When the servants of David came to Abigail at Carmel, they said to her, “David has sent us to you to take you to him as his wife.”

И҆ прїидо́ша ѻ҆́троцы даві́дѡвы ко а҆вїге́и въ карми́лъ, и҆ рѣ́ша є҆́й, глаго́люще: даві́дъ посла̀ на́съ къ тебѣ̀, да тѧ̀ по́йметъ себѣ̀ въ женѹ̀.

And she rose and bowed with her face to the ground and said, “Behold, your handmaid is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”

И҆ воста̀ и҆ поклони́сѧ до землѝ лице́мъ и҆ речѐ: сѐ, раба̀ твоѧ̀ въ рабы́ню ѹ҆мыва́ти но́ги ѻ҆трокѡ́мъ твои҄мъ.

And Abigail hurried and rose and mounted a donkey, and her five young women attended her. She followed the messengers of David and became his wife.

И҆ воста̀ а҆вїге́а, и҆ всѣ́де на ѻ҆слѧ̀, и҆ пѧ́ть дѣви́цъ и҆дѧ́хѹ в̾слѣ́дъ є҆ѧ̀, и҆ по́йде в̾слѣ́дъ ѻ҆трокѡ́въ даві́довыхъ, и҆ бы́сть є҆мѹ̀ въ женѹ̀.

David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel, and both of them became his wives.

И҆ а҆хїнаа́мѹ поѧ́тъ даві́дъ ѿ ї҆езрае́лѧ, и҆ бѣ́стѣ є҆мѹ̀ ѻ҆́бѣ жєны̀.

Saul had given Michal his daughter, David’s wife, to Palti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.

Саѹ́лъ же дадѐ мелхо́лѹ дще́рь свою̀ женѹ̀ даві́довѹ фалті́ю сы́нѹ а҆мі́совѹ и҆́же ѿ ро́ммы.
