And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted much in David.

И҆ глаго́ла саѹ́лъ къ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѹ сы́нѹ своемѹ̀ и҆ ко всѣ҄мъ ѻ҆трокѡ́мъ свои҄мъ, да ѹ҆мертвѧ́тъ даві́да. Ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ же сы́нъ саѹ́ловъ любѧ́ше даві́да ѕѣлѡ̀.

And Jonathan told David, “Saul my father seeks to kill you. Therefore be on your guard in the morning. Stay in a secret place and hide yourself.

И҆ возвѣстѝ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ даві́дѹ, глаго́лѧ: ѻ҆те́цъ мо́й саѹ́лъ и҆́щетъ тѧ̀ ѹ҆би́ти: сохрани́сѧ ѹ҆̀бо заѹ́тра ра́нѡ, и҆ скры́йсѧ, и҆ сѧ́ди вта́йнѣ:

And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak to my father about you. And if I learn anything I will tell you.”

и҆ а҆́зъ и҆зы́дѹ, и҆ ста́нѹ при ѻ҆тцѣ̀ мое́мъ на селѣ̀, и҆дѣ́же є҆сѝ ты̀: и҆ а҆́зъ возглаго́лю ѻ҆тцѹ̀ моемѹ̀ ѡ҆ тебѣ̀, и҆ ѹ҆зрю̀, что̀ бѹ́детъ, и҆ возвѣщѹ̀ тебѣ̀.

And Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, “Let not the king sin against his servant David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his deeds have brought good to you.

И҆ глаго́ла ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ ѡ҆ даві́дѣ блага҄ѧ къ саѹ́лѹ ѻ҆тцѹ̀ своемѹ̀, и҆ речѐ къ немѹ̀: да не согрѣша́етъ ца́рь на раба̀ своего̀ даві́да, ѩ҆́кѡ не согрѣшѝ пред̾ тобо́ю, и҆ дѣла̀ є҆гѡ̀ бла҄га сѹ́ть ѕѣлѡ̀:

For he took his life in his hand and he struck down the Philistine, and the Lord worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood by killing David without cause?”

и҆ положѝ дѹ́шѹ свою̀ въ рѹцѣ̀ свое́й и҆ побѣдѝ и҆ноплеме́нника, и҆ сотворѝ гд҇ь сп҇нїе вели́ко всемѹ̀ ї҆и҃лю, и҆ всѝ ви́дѣша и҆ возра́довашасѧ: и҆ почто̀ согрѣша́еши въ кро́вь непови́ннѹ, є҆́же ѹ҆би́ти даві́да тѹ́не;

And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan. Saul swore, “As the Lord lives, he shall not be put to death.”

И҆ послѹ́ша саѹ́лъ гла́са ї҆ѡнаѳа́нѧ: и҆ клѧ́тсѧ саѹ́лъ, глаго́лѧ: жи́въ гд҇ь, ѩ҆́кѡ не ѹ҆́мретъ (даві́дъ).

And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan reported to him all these things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before.

И҆ призва̀ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ даві́да и҆ возвѣстѝ є҆мѹ̀ всѧ҄ глаго́лы сїѧ҄, и҆ введѐ ї҆ѡнаѳа́нъ даві́да къ саѹ́лѹ, и҆ бѣ̀ пред̾ ни́мъ ѩ҆́кѡ вчера̀ и҆ тре́тїѧгѡ днѐ.

And there was war again. And David went out and fought with the Philistines and struck them with a great blow, so that they fled before him.

И҆ приложи́сѧ бра́нь бы́ти на саѹ́ла, и҆ ѹ҆крѣпи́сѧ даві́дъ, и҆ побѣдѝ и҆ноплеме́нники, и҆ и҆збѝ ѩ҆́звою вели́кою ѕѣлѡ̀, и҆ бѣжа́ша ѿ лица̀ є҆гѡ̀.

Then a harmful spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand. And David was playing the lyre.

И҆ бы́сть ѿ бг҃а дѹ́хъ лѹка́вый на саѹ́лѣ, и҆ то́й въ домѹ̀ свое́мъ сѣдѧ́ше, и҆ копїѐ въ рѹцѣ̀ є҆гѡ̀, даві́дъ же и҆гра́ше рѹка́ми свои́ми:

And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night.

и҆ и҆ска́ше саѹ́лъ копїе́мъ порази́ти даві́да, и҆ ѿстѹпѝ даві́дъ ѿ лица̀ саѹ́лѧ, и҆ ѹ҆да́ри саѹ́лъ копїе́мъ въ стѣ́нѹ: даві́дъ же ѿше́дъ спасе́сѧ въ но́щь тѹ̀.

Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him, that he might kill him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, told him, “If you do not escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”

И҆ посла̀ саѹ́лъ вѣ́стники въ до́мъ даві́довъ стрещѝ є҆го̀, є҆́же ѹ҆би́ти є҆го̀ ра́нѡ. И҆ возвѣстѝ даві́дѹ мелхо́ла жена̀ є҆гѡ̀, глаго́лющи: а҆́ще ты̀ не спасе́ши дѹшѝ твоеѧ̀ въ но́щь сїю̀, заѹ́тра ѹ҆́мреши.

So Michal let David down through the window, and he fled away and escaped.

И҆ свѣ́си мелхо́ла даві́да ѻ҆ко́нцемъ, и҆ ѿи́де, и҆ ѹ҆бѣжа̀, и҆ спасе́сѧ:

Michal took an imagea and laid it on the bed and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head and covered it with the clothes.

и҆ прїѧ́тъ мелхо́ла тщепогреба҄лнаѧ, и҆ положѝ на ѻ҆дрѣ̀, и҆ пе́чень ко́зїю положѝ на возгла́вїи є҆гѡ̀, и҆ покры̀ ѧ҆̀ ри́зами.

And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”

И҆ посла̀ саѹ́лъ вѣ́стники, да и҆́мѹтъ даві́да, и҆ реко́ша, ѩ҆́кѡ бо́ленъ є҆́сть.

Then Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”

И҆ посла̀ саѹ́лъ, да ѡ҆глѧ́даютъ даві́да, глаго́лѧ: принеси́те є҆го̀ на ѻ҆дрѣ̀ ко мнѣ̀, є҆́же ѹ҆мертви́ти є҆го̀.

And when the messengers came in, behold, the image was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head.

И҆ прїидо́ша слѹги҄, и҆ сѐ, тщепогреба҄лнаѧ на ѻ҆дрѣ̀ и҆ ко́зїѧ пе́чень при возгла́вїи є҆гѡ̀.

Saul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me thus and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped?” And Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go. Why should I kill you?’”

И҆ речѐ саѹ́лъ къ мелхо́лѣ: почто̀ та́кѡ ѡ҆бманѹ́ла мѧ̀ є҆сѝ, и҆ ѿпѹсти́ла є҆сѝ врага̀ моего̀, и҆ гонзѐ менѐ; И҆ речѐ мелхо́ла саѹ́лѹ: са́мъ мѝ речѐ: ѿпѹсти́ мѧ: а҆́ще же нѝ, погѹблю́ тѧ.

Now David fled and escaped, and he came to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and lived at Naioth.

И҆ даві́дъ ѹ҆бѣжа̀ и҆ спасе́сѧ, и҆ и҆́де къ самѹи́лѹ во а҆рмаѳе́мъ и҆ повѣ́да є҆мѹ̀ всѧ҄, є҆ли҄ка сотворѝ є҆мѹ̀ саѹ́лъ. И҆ и҆до́ста даві́дъ и҆ самѹи́лъ и҆ сѣдо́ста въ наѵа́ѳѣ въ ра́мѣ.

And it was told Saul, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”

И҆ возвѣсти́ша саѹ́лѹ, глаго́люще: сѐ, даві́дъ въ наѵа́ѳѣ въ ра́мѣ.

Then Saul sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

И҆ посла̀ слѹги҄ саѹ́лъ ѩ҆́ти даві́да, и҆ ви́дѣша собо́ръ про҇ро́кѡвъ, и҆ самѹи́лъ стоѧ́ше настоѧ́тель над̾ ни́ми: и҆ бы́сть дх҃ъ бж҃їй на слѹга́хъ саѹ́лихъ, и҆ нача́ша прорица́ти.

When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.

И҆ возвѣсти́ша саѹ́лѹ, и҆ посла̀ дрѹгї҄ѧ слѹги҄, и҆ прорица́ти нача́ша и҆ ті́и. И҆ приложѝ саѹ́лъ посла́ти слѹги҄ трє́тїѧ, и҆ нача́ша и҆ ті́и прорица́ти.

Then he himself went to Ramah and came to the great well that is in Secu. And he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” And one said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.”

И҆ разгнѣ́васѧ гнѣ́вомъ саѹ́лъ, и҆ и҆́де и҆ са́мъ во а҆рмаѳе́мъ, и҆ прїи́де да́же до кла́дѧзѧ гѹмна̀, є҆́же є҆́сть въ се́фѣ, и҆ вопросѝ и҆ речѐ: гдѣ̀ є҆́сть самѹи́лъ и҆ даві́дъ; И҆ рѣ́ша: сѐ, въ наѵа́ѳѣ въ ра́мѣ.

And he went there to Naioth in Ramah. And the Spirit of God came upon him also, and as he went he prophesied until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

И҆ и҆́де ѿтѹ́дѹ въ наѵа́ѳъ (и҆́же) въ ра́мѣ: и҆ бы́сть и҆ на не́мъ дх҃ъ бж҃їй, и҆ и҆дѧ́ше и҆ды́й и҆ прорица́ѧ, до́ндеже прїитѝ є҆мѹ̀ въ наѵа́ѳъ и҆́же въ ра́мѣ.

And he too stripped off his clothes, and he too prophesied before Samuel and lay naked all that day and all that night. Thus it is said, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”

И҆ совлечѐ ри҄зы своѧ҄ и҆ прорица́ше пред̾ ни́ми: и҆ падѐ на́гъ ве́сь де́нь то́й и҆ всю̀ но́щь. Тогѡ̀ ра́ди глаго́лахѹ: є҆да̀ и҆ саѹ́лъ во проро́цѣхъ;
