1 Thessalonians

Wherefore, being no longer able to refrain ourselves, we thought good to be left alone in Athens,

Темже уже не терпяще, благоволихом остатися во афинех едини,

and sent Timotheus, our brother and fellow-workman under God in the glad tidings of Christ, to confirm you and encourage [you] concerning your faith,

и послахом тимофеа, брата нашего и служителя Божия и споспешника нашего во благовестии Христове, утвердити вас и утешити о вере вашей,

that no one might be moved by these afflictions. (For yourselves know that we are set for this;

яко ни единому смущатися в скорбех сих: сами бо весте, яко на сие истое лежим.

for also, when we were with you, we told you beforehand we are about to be in tribulation, even as also it came to pass, and ye know.)

Ибо егда у вас бехом, предрекохом вам, яко имамы скорбети, еже и бысть, и весте.

For this reason I also, no longer able to refrain myself, sent to know your faith, lest perhaps the tempter had tempted you and our labour should be come to nothing.

Сего ради и аз ктому не терпя, послах разумети веру вашу, да не како искусил вы искушаяй, и вотще будет труд наш.

But Timotheus having just come to us from you, and brought to us the glad tidings of your faith and love, and that ye have always good remembrance of us, desiring much to see us, even as we also you;

Ныне же пришедшу тимофею к нам от вас и благовестившу нам веру вашу и любовь, и яко имате память о нас благу, всегда желающе нас видети, якоже и мы вас:

for this reason we have been comforted in you, brethren, in all our distress and tribulation, through your faith,

сего ради утешихомся, братие, о вас, во всякой скорби и нужде нашей, вашею верою:

because now we live if ye stand firm in [the] Lord.

яко мы ныне живи есмы, аще вы стоите о Господе.

For what thanksgiving can we render to God for you, for all the joy wherewith we rejoice on account of you before our God,

Кое бо благодарение Богу можем воздати о вас, о всякой радости, еюже радуемся вас ради пред Богом нашим,

night and day beseeching exceedingly to the end that we may see your face, and perfect what is lacking in your faith?

нощь и день преизлиха молящеся видети лице ваше и совершити лишение веры вашея?

But our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you.

Сам же Бог и Отец наш и Господь наш Иисус Христос да исправит путь наш к вам.

But you, may the Lord make to exceed and abound in love toward one another, and toward all, even as we also towards you,

Вас же Господь да умножит и да избыточествит любовию друг ко другу и ко всем, якоже и мы к вам,

in order to the confirming of your hearts unblamable in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

во еже утвердити сердца ваша непорочна в святыни пред Богом и Отцем нашим, в пришествие Господа нашего Иисуса Христа со всеми святыми его. Аминь.
