После долгих расставаний со старейшинами Ефеса, мы отплыли и держали курс прямо на Кос. На следующий день мы поплыли на Родос, а оттуда — в Патару.

After saying farewell to the Ephesian elders, we sailed straight to the island of Cos. The next day we reached Rhodes and then went to Patara.

Найдя там корабль, направлявшийся в Финикию, мы сели на него и отплыли.

There we boarded a ship sailing for Phoenicia.

Увидев Кипр, мы обогнули его слева, поплыли в Сирию и высадились в Тире, так как там разгружали корабль.

We sighted the island of Cyprus, passed it on our left, and landed at the harbor of Tyre, in Syria, where the ship was to unload its cargo.

Разыскав там учеников, мы остались на неделю. Направляемые Духом, они сказали Савлу, чтобы он не восходил в Иерусалим;

We went ashore, found the local believers,a and stayed with them a week. These believers prophesied through the Holy Spirit that Paul should not go on to Jerusalem.

но проведя там неделю, мы вновь отправились в путь. Все они вместе с жёнами и детьми провожали нас до окраины города. На берегу мы встали на колени и помолились,

When we returned to the ship at the end of the week, the entire congregation, including womenb and children, left the city and came down to the shore with us. There we knelt, prayed,

и попрощались друг с другом. Затем мы сели на корабль, а они возвратились домой.

and said our farewells. Then we went aboard, and they returned home.

Завершив плавание, мы прибыли из Тира в Птолемаиду. Там мы поприветствовали братьев и переночевали у них.

The next stop after leaving Tyre was Ptolemais, where we greeted the brothers and sistersc and stayed for one day.

На другой день мы ушли оттуда и прибыли в Кесарию. Там мы направились к дому Филиппа, проповедника Доброй Вести, одного из Семи, и остановились у него.

The next day we went on to Caesarea and stayed at the home of Philip the Evangelist, one of the seven men who had been chosen to distribute food.

У Филиппа было четыре незамужних дочери, обладавших даром пророчества.

He had four unmarried daughters who had the gift of prophecy.

В то время как мы находились там, из Иудеи пришёл пророк по имени Агав

Several days later a man named Agabus, who also had the gift of prophecy, arrived from Judea.

и навестил нас. Он взял пояс Савла, связал самого себя по рукам и ногам и сказал: "Вот что говорит Святой Дух: человека, которому принадлежит этот пояс, иудеяне свяжут вот так в Иерусалиме и передадут язычникам".

He came over, took Paul’s belt, and bound his own feet and hands with it. Then he said, “The Holy Spirit declares, ‘So shall the owner of this belt be bound by the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem and turned over to the Gentiles.’”

Услышав это, мы и находившиеся там стали умолять его, чтобы он не шёл в Иерусалим;

When we heard this, we and the local believers all begged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.

однако Савл ответил: "Что вы делаете? Зачем вы плачете и пытаетесь поколебать мою решимость? Я не только готов быть связанным, но даже умереть в Иерусалиме за имя Господа Йешуа".

But he said, “Why all this weeping? You are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus.”

И увидев, что его не переубедить, мы сказали: "Да исполнится воля Господа" — и замолчали.

When it was clear that we couldn’t persuade him, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.”

Итак, по окончании нашего пребывания там, мы уложили вещи и отправились в Иерусалим;

After this we packed our things and left for Jerusalem.

с нами пошли также некоторые ученики из Кесарии. Они привели нас в дом одного человека, у которого мы должны были остановиться, к Мнасону из Кипра, который уже долгое время был учеником.

Some believers from Caesarea accompanied us, and they took us to the home of Mnason, a man originally from Cyprus and one of the early believers.

В Иерусалиме нас тепло приняли братья.

When we arrived, the brothers and sisters in Jerusalem welcomed us warmly.

На следующий день Савл и все остальные пошли к Иакову, также там присутствовали все старейшины.

The next day Paul went with us to meet with James, and all the elders of the Jerusalem church were present.

Поприветствовав их, Савл подробно описал всё, что Бог его усилиями совершил среди язычников.

After greeting them, Paul gave a detailed account of the things God had accomplished among the Gentiles through his ministry.

Услышав об этом, они прославили Бога, а также сказали ему: "Видишь, брат, сколько верующих среди иудеян — многие десятки тысяч, и все они ревнители Пятикнижия.

After hearing this, they praised God. And then they said, “You know, dear brother, how many thousands of Jews have also believed, and they all follow the law of Moses very seriously.

Им же сказали о тебе, что ты учишь евреев, живущих среди язычников, чтобы они отступили от Моисея, и говоришь им не делать сыновьям обрезания и не соблюдать традиции.

But the Jewish believers here in Jerusalem have been told that you are teaching all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to turn their backs on the laws of Moses. They’ve heard that you teach them not to circumcise their children or follow other Jewish customs.

Что же, в таком случае, делать? Они обязательно узнают о том, что ты здесь.

What should we do? They will certainly hear that you have come.

Поэтому сделай так, как мы скажем тебе. У нас есть четыре человека, давших обет.

“Here’s what we want you to do. We have four men here who have completed their vow.

Возьми их с собой, пройди вместе с ними очищение и оплати их расходы, чтобы они остригли голову. Тогда все узнают, что дошедшие до них слухи о тебе неверны; и что, напротив, ты сам по-прежнему в согласии с Пятикнижием и соблюдаешь его.

Go with them to the Temple and join them in the purification ceremony, paying for them to have their heads ritually shaved. Then everyone will know that the rumors are all false and that you yourself observe the Jewish laws.

Что же касается язычников, поверивших в Иисуса, мы все участвовали в составлении письма, в котором сообщили о нашем решении, чтобы они воздерживались от принесённого в жертву идолам, от крови, от удавленного и от блуда".

“As for the Gentile believers, they should do what we already told them in a letter: They should abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality.”

На следующий день Савл взял тех людей, прошёл вместе с ними очищение и вошёл в Храм, чтобы сообщить всем о том, когда закончится время очищения и будут принесены жертвы за каждого из них.

So Paul went to the Temple the next day with the other men. They had already started the purification ritual, so he publicly announced the date when their vows would end and sacrifices would be offered for each of them.

Когда эти семь дней были почти на исходе, какие-то неверующие евреи из Асийской провинции увидели его в Храме, вызвали переполох в толпе и набросились на него.

The seven days were almost ended when some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul in the Temple and roused a mob against him. They grabbed him,

"Люди Израиля, помогите, — кричали они. — Этот человек ходит повсюду и учит против народа, против Пятикнижия и против этого места! А теперь он даже завёл в Храм язычников и осквернил святое место!"

yelling, “Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who preaches against our people everywhere and tells everybody to disobey the Jewish laws. He speaks against the Temple — and even defiles this holy place by bringing in Gentiles.d”

(Перед этим они видели с ним в городе Трофима из Ефеса и подумали, что Савл привёл его в Храм).

(For earlier that day they had seen him in the city with Trophimus, a Gentile from Ephesus,e and they assumed Paul had taken him into the Temple.)

Весь город пришёл в смятение, и отовсюду стали сбегаться люди. Они схватили Савла и силой вывели из Храма, и тотчас ворота были заперты.

The whole city was rocked by these accusations, and a great riot followed. Paul was grabbed and dragged out of the Temple, and immediately the gates were closed behind him.

Когда они уже собирались его убить, до командующего римским батальоном дошло известие о том, что весь Иерусалим охвачен паникой.

As they were trying to kill him, word reached the commander of the Roman regiment that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.

Он тут же взял офицеров и солдат и направился к ним. Увидев командующего, они перестали бить Савла.

He immediately called out his soldiers and officersf and ran down among the crowd. When the mob saw the commander and the troops coming, they stopped beating Paul.

Затем командующий, подойдя, взял его под стражу и приказал сковать его двумя цепями. Он спросил, кто это и что он сделал.

Then the commander arrested him and ordered him bound with two chains. He asked the crowd who he was and what he had done.

Люди в толпе начали кричать каждый своё; тогда он, не сумев из-за стоявшего шума разобраться в том, что произошло, велел отвести его в казарму.

Some shouted one thing and some another. Since he couldn’t find out the truth in all the uproar and confusion, he ordered that Paul be taken to the fortress.

Когда Савл поднимался по лестнице, солдатам пришлось нести его из-за разъярённой толпы.

As Paul reached the stairs, the mob grew so violent the soldiers had to lift him to their shoulders to protect him.

Люди продолжали идти следом и кричали во весь голос: "Убейте его!"

And the crowd followed behind, shouting, “Kill him, kill him!”

У входа в казарму Савл обратился к командующему: "Можно тебе кое-что сказать?" Командующий ответил: "Ты знаешь греческий!

As Paul was about to be taken inside, he said to the commander, “May I have a word with you?” “Do you know Greek?” the commander asked, surprised.

Скажи, ты случайно не тот египтянин, который пытался некоторое время назад поднять мятеж и повёл в пустыню четыреста вооружённых бунтовщиков?"

“Aren’t you the Egyptian who led a rebellion some time ago and took 4,000 members of the Assassins out into the desert?”

Савл сказал: "Я еврей из Тарса, что в Киликии, гражданин важного города; я прошу, чтобы ты позволил мне поговорить с народом".

“No,” Paul replied, “I am a Jew and a citizen of Tarsus in Cilicia, which is an important city. Please, let me talk to these people.”

Получив разрешение, Савл, стоя на лестнице, сделал рукой людям знак. Когда, наконец, они утихли, он обратился к ним на еврейском языке:

The commander agreed, so Paul stood on the stairs and motioned to the people to be quiet. Soon a deep silence enveloped the crowd, and he addressed them in their own language, Aramaic.g
