Дети мои, пишу вам это, чтобы вы не грешили. А если кто и согрешит, есть кому ходатайствовать за нас перед Отцом — праведному Иисусу Христу.

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

Он загладил наши грехи, и не только наши, но и всего мира.

He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins — and not only our sins but the sins of all the world.

Как нам узнать, познали ли мы Его? По тому, соблюдаем ли мы Его заповеди.

And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments.

Кто говорит «я Его познал», а заповеди Его не соблюдает, тот лжец, и нет в нем истины.

If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.

А кто соблюдает Его слово, в том Божья любовь поистине достигла совершенства — вот как мы узнаём, с Ним ли мы.

But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him.

Кто утверждает, что пребывает с Ним, тот и поступать должен, как поступал Он.

Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

Возлюбленные, я пишу вам не новую заповедь, а прежнюю, которая была у вас с самого начала; слово, которое вы слышали — это прежняя заповедь.

Dear friends, I am not writing a new commandment for you; rather it is an old one you have had from the very beginning. This old commandment — to love one another — is the same message you heard before.

Впрочем, напишу вам и новую заповедь — Он Сам откроет в вашей жизни ее истинность. Тьма проходит, и свет истины уже начинает сиять.

Yet it is also new. Jesus lived the truth of this commandment, and you also are living it. For the darkness is disappearing, and the true light is already shining.

И кто говорит, что пребывает с Ним, но ненавидит брата своего, тот и теперь во тьме.

If anyone claims, “I am living in the light,” but hates a fellow believer,a that person is still living in darkness.

А кто любит брата своего, тот пребывает во свете, и нет в нем соблазна.

Anyone who loves a fellow believerb is living in the light and does not cause others to stumble.

Но кто брата ненавидит, тот во тьме: он ходит во тьме и не видит, куда идет, ибо тьма лишила его зрения.

But anyone who hates a fellow believer is still living and walking in darkness. Such a person does not know the way to go, having been blinded by the darkness.

Пишу вам, дети, потому что именем Его прощены вам грехи.

I am writing to you who are God’s children because your sins have been forgiven through Jesus.c

Пишу вам, отцы, потому что вы познали Того, Кто был от начала. Пишу вам, юноши, потому что вы победили лукавого.

I am writing to you who are mature in the faithd because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I am writing to you who are young in the faith because you have won your battle with the evil one.

Я написал вам, дети, потому что вы познали Отца. Я написал вам, отцы, потому что вы познали Того, Кто был от начала. Я написал вам, юноши, потому что вы сильны, и слово Божье пребывает в вас, и вы победили лукавого.

I have written to you who are God’s children because you know the Father. I have written to you who are mature in the faith because you know Christ, who existed from the beginning. I have written to you who are young in the faith because you are strong. God’s word lives in your hearts, and you have won your battle with the evil one.

Не люби́те этот мир и всё то, что есть в нем. Кто любит этот мир, в том нет любви к Отцу.

Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.

Что есть в этом мире? Плотские прихоти, похотливые взгляды и надменное поведение — всё это не от Отца, а от самого мира.

For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.

Но мир проходит вместе со своими прихотями, а кто творит волю Божью, будет жить вовек.

And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

Дети, настал последний час! Вы слышали, что придет антихрист — так уже появилось много антихристов, потому мы и узнали, что настал последний час.

Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come.

Они покинули нас, но они и не были нашими — ведь если бы были, то остались бы с нами. Так и стало ясно, что все они не были нашими.

These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us.

А вы все приняли помазание от Святого и обладаете знанием.

But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit,e and all of you know the truth.

Я не писал вам, будто истина вам неведома — я написал, что вы знаете ее и что всякая ложь непричастна истине.

So I am writing to you not because you don’t know the truth but because you know the difference between truth and lies.

А кто такой лжец? Разве не тот, кто отрицает, что Иисус есть Христос? Он и есть антихрист, он отрицает и Отца, и Сына.

And who is a liar? Anyone who says that Jesus is not the Christ.f Anyone who denies the Father and the Son is an antichrist.g

Ведь всякий, кто отрицает Сына, теряет и Отца, а кто признает Сына, сохраняет и Отца.

Anyone who denies the Son doesn’t have the Father, either. But anyone who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

Что вы слышали с самого начала, пусть остается с вами. Если вы сохраните, что слышали с самого начала, то и вы останетесь вместе с Сыном и с Отцом.

So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father.

И вот что Он вам обещал — жизнь вечную!

And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us.

Всё это я написал вам о тех, кто вводит вас в заблуждение.

I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray.

А что до вас — то помазание, которое вы приняли от Бога, остается на вас, и нет нужды, чтобы кто-то вас учил. Его помазание учит вас всему, оно истинно, нет в нем лжи. Как оно научило вас, так и оставайтесь с ним.

But you have received the Holy Spirit,h and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spiriti teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true — it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.

И теперь, дети, оставайтесь с Ним — и когда Он явится, мы будем смелы, и Его пришествие не заставит нас стыдиться.

And now, dear children, remain in fellowship with Christ so that when he returns, you will be full of courage and not shrink back from him in shame.

И раз вы познали, что Он праведен, то знайте и вот что: всякий, кто творит правду, рожден от Него.

Since we know that Christ is righteous, we also know that all who do what is right are God’s children.
