Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

Смотрите, не выставляйте на показ ваши дела праведности, чтобы люди видели вас! Если делаете так, то нет вам вознаграждения от вашего Отца небесного.

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Итак, когда творите благотворительность, не трубите об этом, чтобы завоевать людскую похвалу, как это делают в синагогах и на улицах лицемеры. Да! Говорю вам, они уже имеют свою награду!

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

Но вы, когда творите благотворительность, не позволяйте даже вашей левой руке знать о том, что делает правая рука.

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Тогда будет благотворительность ваша втайне; а Отец ваш, видящий ваши тайные дела, вознаградит вас.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Когда молитесь, не уподобляйтесь лицемерам, любящим молиться, стоя в синагогах и на углах улиц, чтобы люди видели их. Да! Говорю вам, они уже имеют своё вознаграждение!

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Но ты, когда молишься, войди в комнату свою, закрой дверь и молись Отцу твоему втайне. Отец твой, видящий совершённое втайне, вознаградит тебя.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

И когда молитесь, не бормочите беспрестанно, как это делают язычники, думающие, что Бог лучше услышит их, если они будут много говорить.

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Не уподобляйтесь им, потому что Отец ваш знает, в чём вы нуждаетесь, ещё до того, как вы попросите его.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Поэтому молитесь так: 'Отец Наш небесный! Пусть почитается святым Имя Твоё.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Пусть придёт Царство Твоё, пусть исполнится Твоя воля на земле, как она исполнена на небесах.

Give us this day our daily bread.

Дай нам пищу, в которой мы нуждаемся сегодня.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Прости нам наши проступки, подобно тому, как мы простили тем, кто поступил неправильно с нами.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

И не введи нас в тяжкое испытание, но сохрани нас от Злого.

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

Потому что, если вы будете прощать другим обиды ваши, ваш небесный Отец простит и вас;

But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

а если не простите другим, ваш небесный Отец не простит вам.

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Когда же поститесь, появляясь на людях, не напускайте на себя жалкий вид, как это делают лицемеры. Они делают угрюмые лица, чтобы люди догадались, что они постятся. Да! Говорю вам, они уже имеют своё вознаграждение!

But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

Но вы, когда поститесь, умойте лицо и приведите себя в порядок,

That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

чтобы никто не знал, что вы поститесь, кроме Отца вашего, который с вами втайне. Отец ваш, видящий совершённое втайне, вознаградит вас.

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Не копите себе богатство на земле, где его портят моль и ржавчина, крадут и грабят воры.

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Вместо этого, накапливайте себе богатство на небесах, где ни моль, ни ржавчина не испортят его, и не украдут и не разграбят воры.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Потому что где находится ваше богатство, там будет и сердце ваше.

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

'Глаз — светильник тела'. Итак, если у тебя 'добрый глаз' [то есть если ты щедр], то всё твоё тело будет наполнено светом;

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

но если у тебя 'злой глаз' [если ты скупой], всё твое тело будет наполнено тьмой. Если, в таком случае, свет в тебе — это тьма, то насколько же велика та тьма!

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Никто не может быть рабом двух хозяев, потому что он будет либо ненавидеть первого, а второго любить, либо презирать второго, сохраняя верность первому. Не можете вы быть рабами и Бога, и денег.

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Поэтому, говорю вам, не тревожьтесь о своей жизни — о том, что вы будете есть или пить; или о своём теле — во что будете одеваться. Разве жизнь не больше пищи, а тело — одежды?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

Посмотрите на птиц, летающих вокруг! Они ни сеют, ни жнут, ни собирают пищу в амбары; но всё же Отец ваш небесный кормит их. Не достойнее ли вы их?

Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

Может ли кто-нибудь из вас беспокойством продлить свою жизнь хотя бы на час?

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

И зачем беспокоиться об одежде? Представьте себе, как растут дикие ирисы в поле. Они ни работают, ни прядут,

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

но всё же говорю вам, что даже Соломон во всей своей славе не одевался столь же великолепно.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Если так Бог одевает траву в поле, которая сегодня есть, а завтра её нет, брошена в печь, насколько же лучше Он оденет вас! Как мала ваша вера!

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Итак, не беспокойтесь, спрашивая: 'Что мы будем есть?', 'Что мы будем пить?', или 'Во что мы будем одеваться?'.

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Ведь это язычники ищут всего этого. Ваш небесный Отец знает, в чём вы нуждаетесь.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Ищите прежде всего Царство и его праведность, а всё необходимое также будет дано вам.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Не беспокойтесь о завтрашнем дне, он сам побеспокоится о себе! На сегодня и так достаточно бед.
