Якуб, раб Бога і Госпада Ісуса Хрыста, — дванаццацём родам, што расьцярушаны, — ра́давацца!

James, a bond-servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes who are dispersed abroad: Greetings.

З вялікаю радасьцяй прымайце (гзта), браты маі, калі папада́еце ў розныя спакушэньні,

Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,

ве́даючы, што выпрабаваньне вашае ве́ры вытварае цярплівасьць;

knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

цярплівасьць жа няхай мае закончанае дзе́ла, каб вы былі закончанымі й поўнымі, бяз ніякае нястачы.

And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

Калі-ж у каго з вас не хапае мудрасьці, няхай просіць у Бога, які дае́ ўсім проста і без дакораў, — і будзе яму дадзена.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Але няхай просіць з ве́раю, ані не сумляваючыся, бо той, хто сумляваецца, падобны да марское хвалі, якую ве́цер уздыймае й разьбівае.

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

Дык няхай ня думае гэткі чалаве́к, што не́шта дастане ад Госпада.

For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord,

Двудушны чалаве́к няцьвёрды на ўсіх сваіх шляхох.

being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Няхай жа хваліцца паніжаны брат сваей высокасьцяй,

But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position;

а багаты сваім паніжэньнем, бо праміне́, як цьве́т на траве́.

and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away.

Бо ўзыйшло сонца са сьпе́кай і высушыла траву, і цьве́т яе́ апаў, і хараство аблічча яе счэзла; гэтак і багаты на шляхох сваіх завяне.

For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.

Шчасьлівы чалаве́к, які выдзе́ржывае спакусу, бо, як выпрабаваны, ён дастане вянок жыцьця, што абяцаў Госпад тым, хто любіць Яго.

Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

У часе спакушэньня ніхто хай ня кажа: Бог мяне́ спакушае; бо Бог не спакушаецца злом, і сам нікога не спакушае.

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

А кожны спакушаецца, захоплены й прываблены ўласным пажаданьнем;

But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.

а пасьля пажаданьне, зачаўшы, спараджае грэх, а зроблены грэх спараджае сьме́рць.

Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

Не баламуцьцеся, браты маі ўмілаваныя:

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.

кожнае добрае даньнё і кожны дасканалы дар зыходзе з вышыні, ад Айца сьве́тласьцяў, у Якога няма адме́ны, ані зьме́ннасьці.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

Захаце́ўшы, спарадзіў нас словам праўды, каб быць нам нейкім пачаткам тварэньняў Яго.

In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures.

Дык вось, браты маі ўмілаваныя, усякі чалаве́к няхай будзе хуткі паслухаць, павольны гаварыць, няскоры гне́вацца,

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;

бо гне́ў чалаве́ка ня творыць праўды Божае.

for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.

Дзеля гэтага, адклаўшы ўсякі бруд і астачу злосьці, у пакоры прыме́це насаджа́нае слова, што душы вашыя збавіць можа.

Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.

Будзьце-ж выпаўніцелямі слова, а не слухача́мі толькі, ашуківаючымі самых сябе́.

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

Бо хто слухае слова і не выпаўняе, той падобны да чалаве́ка, які разглядае прыраджонае аблічча свае́ ў люстры:

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;

ён паглядзе́ў на сябе́ і адыйшоўся, ды ўраз жа забыўся, які ён.

for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.

Але хто ўглыбляецца ў дасканалы закон свабоды і трывае ў ім, той, стаючыся не слухачом забываючымся, але выпаўніцелем дзе́ла, шчасьлівы будзе ў дзе́яльнасьці.

But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Калі хто сярод вас думае, што ён багабойны, ды не закелза́е языка свайго, але ашуківае сэрца свае́, у таго багабойнасьць пустая.

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.

Чыстая і беззаганная багабойнасьць перад Богам Айцом — у тым, каб даглядаць сірот і ўдоваў у горы іх і дзяржацца неапага́неным ад сьвету.

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
