Через несколько дней Иисус снова пришёл в Капернаум, и в городе стало известно, что Он дома.

And again he entered into Capernaum, after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

К Нему собралось столько людей, что не было места даже в дверях. Когда Иисус возвещал слово,

And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

четверо мужчин принесли к Нему парализованного.

And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

Видя, что из-за толпы им не подойти к Нему, они поднялись на крышу, разобрали её и спустили сверху циновку, на которой лежал больной.

And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

Иисус, увидев их веру, сказал парализованному: — Сын Мой, прощаются тебе твои грехи!

When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

Некоторые из учителей Закона, которые сидели там, подумали про себя:

But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

«Что Он такое говорит? Это кощунство! Кто, кроме Бога, может прощать грехи?»

Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

Иисус тотчас узнал духом Своим, о чем они думают. — Что у вас за мысли такие в сердце? — спросил Он. —

And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

Что легче, сказать парализованному «Прощаются тебе грехи» или сказать ему «Встань, возьми циновку и ходи»?

Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

Но чтобы вы знали, что Сын Человеческий имеет власть прощать грехи на земле… И тут Он обратился к парализованному:

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

— Говорю тебе: встань, возьми свою циновку и иди домой.

I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

Больной тут же, на глазах у всех, встал, взял циновку и вышел. Это очень изумило всех, и люди славили Бога, говоря: «Такого мы никогда ещё не видели!»

And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Иисус опять вышел к озеру. Весь народ шёл к Нему, и Он учил их.

And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

Проходя, Иисус увидел Левия, сына Алфея, сидевшего на месте сбора таможенных пошлин. — Следуй за Мной, — сказал ему Иисус. Тот встал и пошел за Ним.

And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

Позже, когда Иисус возлежал за столом в доме у Левия, то, кроме Его учеников, там возлежало много сборщиков налогов[9] и прочих грешников; за Иисусом всегда шло много разных людей.

And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.

Учители Закона из фарисеев увидели, что Он ест вместе с грешниками и сборщиками налогов, и спросили учеников Иисуса: — Почему Он ест со сборщиками налогов и грешниками?

And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

Услышав это, Иисус сказал им: — Не здоровым нужен врач, а больным. Я пришёл призвать не праведников, а грешников к покаянию.

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Однажды, когда ученики Иоанна и фарисеи постились, к Иисусу пришли какие-то люди и спросили: — Почему ученики Иоанна и ученики фарисеев постятся, а Твои ученики нет?

And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?

Иисус им ответил: — Разве могут гости на свадьбе поститься, пока с ними жених? До тех пор пока жених с ними, зачем им поститься?[10]

And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.

Но наступят дни, когда жених будет взят от них, вот тогда, в тот день, они и будут поститься.

But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

Никто не пришивает к старой одежде заплату из новой ткани, иначе новая ткань сядет, порвет старую, и дыра станет ещё больше.

No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.

И никто не наливает молодое вино в старые бурдюки, иначе вино прорвет их, тогда и вино пропадет, и бурдюки. Молодое вино наливают в новые бурдюки.

And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

Однажды в субботу Иисус проходил через засеянные поля, и Его ученики начали срывать по дороге колосья.

And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.

Фарисеи сказали Ему: — Смотри! Почему они делают то, что не разрешается делать в субботу?[11] [12]

And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

Иисус ответил им: — Разве вы никогда не читали о том, что сделал Давид, находясь в нужде, когда он и его спутники проголодались?

And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

Это произошло при первосвященнике Авиатаре. Давид вошел в дом Божий и ел священный хлеб, который нельзя есть никому, кроме священников, а также дал его своим людям[13].

How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

И добавил: — Суббота создана для человека, а не человек для субботы.

And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Так что Сын Человеческий — Господин и над субботой!

Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

15 [9] — Сборщики налогов были ненавистны иудеями по нескольким причинам: они обирали народ, работали на римских оккупантов и оскверняли себя общением с язычниками. И поэтому понятие «сборщик налогов» было почти равнозначно понятиям «грешник» и «предатель».

19 [10] — То есть, пока Иисус ( жених) находился с верующими, им не нужно было печалиться и держать пост.

24 [11] — Иудеи должны были оставлять некоторую часть урожая для бедных и поселенцев. Кроме того, Законом разрешалось руками срывать колосья на чужом поле, это не считалось воровством (см. Лев 23:22; Втор 23:25). Фарисеи обвиняли учеников Иисуса не в том, что те срывали колосья и растирали их руками, но в том, что они делали это в субботу, в религиозный день покоя.
