Быў адзін чалавек у Раматаіме-Цуфіце з гары Эфраіма, на імя Элькана, сын Ерахама, сына Элію, сына Тогу, сына Суфа, эфраімец.

Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the mountains of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah the son of Jeroham, the son of [a]Elihu, the son of [b]Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.

І ён меў дзвюх жонак: імя адной Ганна, а імя другой Фанэна. І ў Фанэны былі сыны, а ў Ганны дзяцей не было.

And he had two wives: the name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

І штогод той чалавек хадзіў са свайго горада, каб пакланіцца і ўскласці ахвяру Госпаду Магуццяў у Сіло. Былі ж там два сыны Гэлі: Хофні і Пінхас, святары Госпада.

This man went up from his city yearly to worship and sacrifice to the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. Also the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the Lord, were there.

Такім чынам, прыходзіў дзень, і Элькана ўскладаў ахвяру і даваў жонцы сваёй Фанэне і ўсім яе сынам і дочкам па частцы,

And whenever the time came for Elkanah to make an offering, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and daughters.

а Ганне даваў адну найлепшую частку, бо Ганну ён любіў; але Госпад замкнуў улонне яе.

But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the Lord had closed her womb.

Таксама яе суперніца чыніла шкоду і вельмі дакучала ёй, каб яе засмучаць, таму што Госпад замкнуў яе ўлонне.

And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb.

І так яна рабіла многія гады; калі тая прыходзіла ў святыню Госпада, яна, у зручны момант, моцна узрушвала яе. Ганна пасля таго плакала і не прымала ежы.

So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.

Дык сказаў ёй Элькана, муж яе: «Ганна, чаму ты плачаш і чаму не ясі? І чаму сумуе сэрца тваё? Ці ж я табе не мілейшы, чым дзесяць сыноў?»

Then Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”

Ганна ўстала, калі ў Сіло скончылі есці і піць і калі святар Гэлі сядзеў на крэсле перад брамай святыні Госпада.

So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the [c]tabernacle of the Lord.

Паколькі Ганна была сумная душою, яна малілася Госпаду, горка плачучы,

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and [d]wept in anguish.

і давала абяцанне, кажучы: «Госпад Магуццяў, калі Ты, глянуўшы, убачыш смутак паслугачкі Сваёй і прыгадаеш мяне, і не забудзешся на паслугачку Сваю, і паслугачцы Сваёй дасі дзіця мужчынскага полу, то аддам яго Госпаду на ўсе дні жыцця яго, і лязо не дакранецца да галавы яго».

Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.”

Дык, калі яна памнажала малітвы перад Госпадам, здарылася, што Гэлі прыглядаўся да яе вуснаў.

And it happened, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli watched her mouth.

А Ганна гаварыла ў глыбіні сэрца свайго; і толькі варушыліся вусны яе, але голасу не было чуваць, таму Гэлі падумаў, што яна п’яная,

Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.

і сказаў ёй: «Дакуль будзеш п’яная? Працверазей трохі ад віна, з-за якога ты п’яная!»

So Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Put your wine away from you!”

Ганна, адказваючы, прамовіла: «Не, гаспадару мой, бо я вельмі нешчаслівая жанчына: я не піла ані віна, ані чагосьці, што можа ап’яніць, але выліваю я душу сваю перад Госпадам.

But Hannah answered and said, “No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.

Не лічы паслугачку сваю за адну з дачок Бэліяла, бо я з-за вялікага болю і смутку свайго гаварыла да сённяшняга моманту».

Do not consider your maidservant a wicked[e] woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.”

Гэлі тады сказаў ёй: «Ідзі ў супакоі, а Бог Ізраэля хай споўніць просьбу тваю, пра што маліла Яго».

Then Eli answered and said, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.”

І яна сказала: «О, няхай знойдзе паслугачка твая ласку ў вачах тваіх». І адышла тая жанчына дарогаю сваёй, і ела, і аблічча яе не было ўжо такім, як раней.

And she said, “Let your maidservant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.

І падняліся назаўтра рана, і пакланіліся перад Госпадам. І пайшлі ў дарогу зваротную, і прыбылі ў дом свой у Раме. А Элькана пазнаў жонку сваю Ганну, і Госпад прыгадаў яе.

Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her.

І здарылася па нейкім часе, што Ганна пачала, і нарадзіла сына, і дала яму імя Самуэль, таму што ад Госпада выпрасіла яго.

So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name [f]Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”

Муж яе Элькана і ўвесь дом яго пайшоў, каб ускласці гадавую ахвяру Госпаду і споўніць абяцанне сваё.

Now the man Elkanah and all his house went up to offer to the Lord the yearly sacrifice and his vow.

І Ганна не пайшла, бо яна сказала мужу свайму: «Не пайду, пакуль хлапчаня не будзе аднята ад грудзей, і завяду яго, і ён стане перад абліччам Госпада і застанецца там назаўсёды».

But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “Not until the child is weaned; then I will take him, that he may appear before the Lord and remain there forever.”

Адказаў ёй Элькана, муж яе: «Рабі, што табе здаецца добрым, і заставайся, пакуль яго не адымеш ад грудзей; і я малюся, каб Госпад здзейсніў слова Сваё». Дык засталася жанчына і карміла сына свайго, пакуль не адняла яго ад грудзей сваіх.

So Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what seems best to you; wait until you have weaned him. Only let the Lord [g]establish [h]His word.” Then the woman stayed and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

І павяла яго з сабою пасля таго, як адняла, з трохгадовым быком, адной эфай мукі і з бурдзюком віна; і прывяла яго ў дом Госпада ў Сіло. А хлопец быў яшчэ дзіцём.

Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with [i]three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh. And the child was young.

І прынеслі яны ў ахвяру быка, і прадставілі хлопца Гэлі.

Then they slaughtered a bull, and brought the child to Eli.

І сказала тады Ганна: «Прашу, гаспадару мой, хай жыве душа твая, гаспадару; я тая самая жанчына, якая стаяла тут перад табой і маліла Госпада.

And she said, “O my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the Lord.

Маліла я пра гэтае дзіця, і споўніў Госпад просьбу маю, аб якой я прасіла ў Яго.

For this child I prayed, and the Lord has granted me my petition which I asked of Him.

Таму і даручаю яго Госпаду; на ўсе дні, колькі будзе жыць, ён адданы на службу Госпаду». І пакланілася там Госпаду.

Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be [j]lent to the Lord.” So they worshiped the Lord there.
