The Elder, To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth:

Улюбёны, малюся, каб ты быў спраўны і здаровы так, як спраўная душа твая.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Вельмі ўзрадаваўся я з прыбыцця братоў, якія засведчылі праўду тваю ды як ты жывеш у праўдзе.

For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth.

Для мяне няма большай радасці, як пачуць, што дзеці мае жывуць у праўдзе.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in [a]truth.

Улюбёны, верна робіш, калі рупішся дзеля братоў і дзеля падарожных,

Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren [b]and for strangers,

якія аддалі сведчанне тваёй любові перад царквою. Ты добра зробіш, калі выправіш іх у дарогу, як годна перад Богам.

who have borne witness of your love before the church. If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well,

Бо выправіліся яны ў дарогу ў імя [Яго], не прымаючы нічога ад паганаў.

because they went forth for His name’s sake, taking nothing from the Gentiles.

Таму мусім гасцінна прымаць такіх, каб быць саўдзельнікамі праўды.

We therefore ought to receive[c] such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth.

Я напісаў для царквы, але той, які хоча мець першынство сярод іх, Дыятрэф, не прызнае нас.

I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us.

Таму вось, калі прыбуду, нагадаю пра яго ўчынкі, што ён робіць, плявузгаючы на нас ліхімі словамі; і быццам яму яшчэ гэтага не хапае, сам не прымае братоў і тым, якія прымаюць, перашкаджае і выганяе з царквы.

Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, prating[d] against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church.

Улюбёны, не наследуй ліхому, але таму, што добрае. Хто добрае робіць, ёсць ад Бога, а хто робіць благое, той не бачыў Бога.

Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, [e]but he who does evil has not seen God.

Пра Дэметра ўсе добра сведчаць, і нават сама праўда; і мы таксама сведчым, і ты ведаеш, што сведчанне наша праўдзівае.

Demetrius has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. And we also [f]bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true.

Шмат я меў напісаць, але не хачу пісаць табе чарнілам і пяром;

I had many things to write, but I do not wish to write to you with pen and ink;

спадзяюся, што хутка цябе ўбачу і тады пагаворым з вуснаў у вусны.

but I hope to see you shortly, and we shall speak face to face. Peace to you. Our friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.

Супакой табе. Вітаюць цябе сябры. Прывітай сяброў пайменна. Амін.
