These are the words which Moses spoke to all Israel on this side of the Jordan in the wilderness, in the [a]plain opposite [b]Suph, between Paran, Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Dizahab.

на адлегласці ў адзінаццаць дзён дарогі ад Гарэба да Кадэс-Барнэ праз горы Сэір.

It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea.

У саракавым годзе, у адзінаццатым месяцы, у першы дзень месяца сказаў Майсей сынам Ізраэля ўсё, што яму Госпад загадаў, каб ён сказаў ім.

Now it came to pass in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month, that Moses spoke to the children of Israel according to all that the Lord had given him as commandments to them,

Пасля таго, як ён забіў Сэгона, цара амарэяў, які жыў у Хесебоне, і Ога, цара Басана, які жыў у Астароце і ў Эдраі,

after he had killed Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, who dwelt at Ashtaroth in[c] Edrei.

за Ярданам, у зямлі Мааба, пачаў Майсей тлумачыць закон гэты і казаць:

On this side of the Jordan in the land of Moab, Moses began to explain this law, saying,

«Госпад, Бог наш, прамаўляў да нас на Гарэбе, кажучы: “Досыць ужо вам быць на гэтай гары.

“The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain.

Абярніцеся і выберыцеся, і ідзіце на гару амарэяў і да ўсіх суседзяў іх: у Арабе, і ў гарах, і ў Сэфэле, і ў Нагэбе, і на марскім узбярэжжы; у зямлю хананеяў, і ў Лібан, аж да вялікай ракі Эўфрат.

Turn and take your journey, and go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the [d]plain, in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates.

Вось, кажа, Я даю вам гэтую зямлю. Ідзіце, вазьміце яе ва ўласнасць, бо яе паабяцаў Госпад бацькам вашым Абрагаму, Ізааку і Якубу, што аддасць яе ім і іх нашчадкам пасля іх”».

See, I have set the land before you; go in and possess the land which the Lord [e]swore to your fathers — to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — to give to them and their descendants after them.’

І сказаў ён ім у той час: «Не магу я адзін весці вас;

“And I spoke to you at that time, saying: ‘I [f]alone am not able to bear you.

Госпад, Бог ваш, памножыў вас, і сёння вас так многа, як зорак у небе.

The Lord your God has multiplied you, and here you are today, as the stars of heaven in multitude.

Дык хай Госпад, Бог бацькоў вашых, дадасць да гэтай лічбы многія тысячы і дабраславіць вас, як Ён гаварыў вам.

May the Lord God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you!

Не магу я адзін забяспечыць вашы патрэбы, пераносіць вашы цяжары і спрэчкі.

How can I alone bear your problems and your burdens and your complaints?

Абярыце сабе людзей мудрых і богабаязных, лад жыцця якіх выпрабаваны ў пакаленнях вашых, і я пастаўлю іх кіраўнікамі вашымі».

Choose wise, understanding, and knowledgeable men from among your tribes, and I will make them [g]heads over you.’

Тады адказалі вы мне: «Добрая гэта рэч, што ты хочаш зрабіць».

And you answered me and said, ‘The thing which you have told us to do is good.’

Дык выбраў я тады з вашых пакаленняў мужоў мудрых і выпрабаваных, і паставіў іх князямі над вамі: тысячнікамі, сотнікамі, кіраўнікамі над пяццюдзесяццю, кіраўнікамі над дзесяццю і загадчыкамі працы для пакаленняў вашых.

So I took the heads of your tribes, wise and knowledgeable men, and [h]made them heads over you, leaders of thousands, leaders of hundreds, leaders of fifties, leaders of tens, and officers for your tribes.

У той час загадаў я суддзям вашым: «Слухайце справу братоў вашых і судзіце справядліва, — суайчыннік ён ці прыбылец.

“Then I commanded your judges at that time, saying, ‘Hear the cases between your brethren, and judge righteously between a man and his brother or the stranger who is with him.

Не глядзіце на асобу на судзе: выслухайце як вялікага, так і малога, не бойцеся ніводнай асобы, бо гэта суд Божы. А калі б якая справа падавалася вам цяжкай, скіроўвайце да мяне, і я выслухаю».

You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man’s presence, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it.’

У той час загадаў я вам усё, што вы маеце рабіць.

And I commanded you at that time all the things which you should do.

Потым пакінулі мы Гарэб і прайшлі ўсю тую вялікую і страшную пустыню, якую вы бачылі, праз гару амарэйскую, як загадаў нам Госпад, Бог наш, і прыйшлі ў Кадэс-Барнэ.

“So we departed from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw on the way to the mountains of the Amorites, as the Lord our God had commanded us. Then we came to Kadesh Barnea.

І сказаў я вам: «Вы прыйшлі да гары амарэйскай, якую мае нам даць Госпад, Бог наш.

And I said to you, ‘You have come to the mountains of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us.

Агледзь зямлю, якую дае табе Госпад, Бог твой, увайдзі і вазьмі яе ва ўладанне, як сказаў табе Госпад, Бог бацькоў тваіх; не бойся і нічога не палохайся».

Look, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged.’

Прыступілі тады вы ўсе да мяне і сказалі: «Пашлём людзей перад намі, каб агледзелі зямлю і паведамілі пра дарогу, якою маем ісці, і пра гарады, у якія маем увайсці».

“And every one of you came near to me and said, ‘Let us send men before us, and let them search out the land for us, and bring back word to us of the way by which we should go up, and of the cities into which we shall come.’

Слова мне спадабалася, і я выбраў паміж вас дванаццаць мужчын, па адным з кожнага пакалення іх.

“The plan pleased me well; so I took twelve of your men, one man from each tribe.

Яны выйшлі, і скіраваліся ў горы, і дайшлі аж да даліны Нэгэлескал, і агледзелі зямлю.

And they departed and went up into the mountains, and came to the Valley of Eshcol, and spied it out.

І ўзялі яны плады тае зямлі, і прынеслі нам, і сказалі: «Добрая тая зямля, якую мае даць нам Госпад, Бог наш».

They also took some of the fruit of the land in their hands and brought it down to us; and they brought back word to us, saying, ‘It is a good land which the Lord our God is giving us.’

Але вы не хацелі ісці і не паверылі слову Госпада, Бога вашага.

“Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lord your God;

І наракалі ў палатках сваіх, і казалі: «Ненавідзіць нас Госпад, таму і вывеў нас з зямлі Егіпецкай, каб выдаць нас у рукі амарэяў ды пагубіць.

and you complained in your tents, and said, ‘Because the Lord hates us, He has brought us out of the land of Egypt to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

Куды пойдзем? Нашы браты напалохалі сэрца наша, кажучы: народ той шматлікі і перавышае нас ростам, гарады вялікія і аж у неба ўмацаваныя; бачылі мы нават там сыноў Анака».

Where can we go up? Our brethren have [i]discouraged our hearts, saying, “The people are greater and taller than we; the cities are great and fortified up to heaven; moreover we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.” ’

Дык сказаў я вам: «Не дрыжыце і не бойцеся іх.

“Then I said to you, ‘Do not be terrified, or afraid of them.

Госпад Бог, Які ёсць правадыр ваш, Сам будзе за нас ваяваць, як зрабіў у Егіпце на вачах вашых.

The Lord your God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes,

Бачыў ты сам на пустыні, як Госпад, Бог твой, насіў цябе, як звычайна носіць бацька свайго сына малога, ва ўсякай дарозе, якой вы ішлі, аж пакуль не прыйшлі вы ў гэтае месца.

and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.’

Але вы так і не паверылі Госпаду, Богу вашаму,

Yet, for all that, you did not believe the Lord your God,

Які ідзе перад вамі ў дарозе і вызначае месца, на якім вам належыць ставіць палаткі, паказваючы вам шлях: ноччу — агнём, каб асвятляць вам дарогу, удзень — у слупе воблачным».

who went in the way before you to search out a place for you to pitch your tents, to show you the way you should go, in the fire by night and in the cloud by day.

Калі Госпад пачуў голас слоў вашых, то разгневаўся, і прысягнуў, і сказаў:

“And the Lord heard the sound of your words, and was angry, and took an oath, saying,

«Не ўбачыць ніводзін чалавек з гэтага пакалення ліхога тую добрую зямлю, якую Я пад прысягай абяцаў бацькам вашым,

‘Surely not one of these men of this evil generation shall see that good land of which I [j]swore to give to your fathers,

за выключэннем Калеба, сына Ефоны. Ён яе ўбачыць, яму і сынам яго дам Я гэтую зямлю, па якой ён хадзіў, бо ён рабіў усё, каб быць паслухмяным Госпаду».

except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him and his children I am giving the land on which he walked, because he [k]wholly followed the Lord.’

Праз вас і на мяне загневаўся Госпад і казаў: «І ты туды не ўвойдзеш,

The Lord was also angry with me for your sakes, saying, ‘Even you shall not go in there.

але Ешуа, сын Нуна, твой паслугач, ён туды ўвойдзе. Яго падбадзёрвай, бо ён размяркуе зямлю Ізраэлю.

Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you, he shall go in there. Encourage him, for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.

Дзеці вашы, пра якіх гаварылі вы, што павядуць іх у палон, і сыны вашы, якія сёння не разумеюць, што добрае або ліхое, яны ўвойдуць; ім дам Я яе, і яны завалодаюць ёю.

‘Moreover your little ones and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil, they shall go in there; to them I will give it, and they shall possess it.

А вы павярніце ды адыдзіце ў пустыню па дарозе праз мора Чырвонае».

But as for you, turn and take your journey into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.’

І адказалі вы мне: «Зграшылі мы перад Госпадам, мы пойдзем і будзем ваяваць, як загадаў нам Госпад, Бог наш». І вы падперазаліся зброяй і выправіліся на гару.

“Then you answered and said to me, ‘We have sinned against the Lord; we will go up and fight, just as the Lord our God commanded us.’ And when everyone of you had girded on his weapons of war, you were ready to go up into the mountain.

Госпад сказаў мне: Скажы ім: «Не ўзыходзьце і не ваюйце, бо Я не з вамі, каб не пападалі вы перад ворагамі вашымі».

“And the Lord said to me, ‘Tell them, “Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; lest you be defeated before your enemies.” ’

Сказаў я, ды вы не паслухалі, і супрацівіліся загаду Госпадаву, і, гнаныя пыхаю, вы ўзышлі на вяршыню гары.

So I spoke to you; yet you would not listen, but rebelled against the command of the Lord, and presumptuously[l] went up into the mountain.

Дык выйшаў супраць вас амарэй, які жыў на той гары, і пагнаў вас, як звычайна гоняць пчолы, і пабіў вас ад Сэіра аж да Хормы.

And the Amorites who dwelt in that mountain came out against you and chased you as bees do, and drove you back from Seir to Hormah.

І вярнуліся вы і плакалі перад Госпадам, але Госпад не выслухаў вас і не захацеў звярнуць увагі на голас ваш.

Then you returned and wept before the Lord, but the Lord would not listen to your voice nor give ear to you.

І прабылі вы ў Кадэсе на працягу таго доўгага часу, пакуль вы там заставаліся.

“So you remained in Kadesh many days, according to the days that you spent there.
