James, a servanta of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion: Greetings.

Якуб, слуга Бога і Пана Езуса Хрыста, вітае дванаццаць плямёнаў у дыяспары.

Count it all joy, my brothers,b when you meet trials of various kinds,

Браты мае, калі трапляеце ў разнастайныя выпрабаванні, з вялікай радасцю прымайце іх.

for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.

Бо ведаеце, што выпрабаванне вашай веры нараджае цярплівасць.

And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

А цярплівасць няхай будзе дасканалая, каб вы былі дасканалыя і беззаганныя, ні ў чым не маючы недахопу.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Калі некаму з вас нестае мудрасці, няхай просіць у Бога, які шчодра дае ўсім і не дакарае, — і будзе дадзена яму.

But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

Але няхай просіць з вераю і не сумняваецца, бо той, хто сумняваецца, падобны да марской хвалі, якую ўздымае і кідае вецер.

For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;

Няхай гэты чалавек не думае, што атрымае нешта ад Пана,

he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

як чалавек двудушны, нясталы ва ўсіх сваіх шляхах.

Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation,

Няхай хваліцца прыніжаны брат сваім узвышэннем,

and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grassc he will pass away.

а багаты — сваім прыніжэннем, таму што праміне, як цвет травы.

For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

Бо ўзышло сонца і спёкай высушыла траву, і цвет яе апаў, і прыгажосць яе знікла — так і багаты завяне на сваіх шляхах.

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Шчаслівы чалавек, які вытрымлівае выпрабаванне, бо, калі будзе выпрабаваны, атрымае вянец жыцця, які Бог абяцаў тым, хто любіць Яго.

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.

Падчас выпрабавання няхай ніхто не кажа, што Бог выпрабоўвае яго, таму што Бога нельга выпрабаваць злом і сам Ён не выпрабоўвае нікога.

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

Але кожны выпрабоўваецца ўласнай пажадлівасцю, якая прыцягвае і зводзіць.

Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

Зачаўшы, яна нараджае грэх, а калі грэх саспее, ён нараджае смерць.

Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers.

Таму не дазваляйце сябе звесці, мае ўмілаваныя браты.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.d

Усялякае дараванне добрае і ўсялякі дасканалы дар паходзіць звыш ад Айца святла, у якога няма зменлівасці або ценю змены.

Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Пастанавіўшы, нарадзіў нас Айцец словам праўды, каб мы былі пэўным пачаткам Ягоных стварэнняў.

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;

Ведайце, мае ўмілаваныя браты: няхай кожны чалавек слухае з ахвотай, але не будзе ахвочы да размоў, не будзе ахвочы да гневу.

for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Бо чалавечы гнеў не здзяйсняе Божай справядлівасці.

Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

Таму адкіньце ўсялякую нячыстасць і празмерную злосць і прыміце з пакораю пасеянае ў вас слова, якое можа збавіць вашыя душы.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Будзьце ж выканаўцамі слова, а не толькі слухачамі, якія падманваюць саміх сябе.

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.

Бо той, хто слухае слова, а не выконвае яго, падобны да чалавека, які разглядае свой натуральны твар у люстэрку:

For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like.

прыгледзеўся да сябе, адышоў і адразу забыўся, якім быў.

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

Аднак той, хто пранікае ў дасканалы закон свабоды і трывае ў ім не як забыўлівы слухач, але як чынны выканаўца, той будзе шчаслівы ў тым, што робіць.

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless.

Калі хто лічыць сябе пабожным, не ўтаймоўваючы свайго языка, але зводзячы сваё сэрца, то марная ягоная пабожнасць.

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Чыстая і беззаганная пабожнасць перад Богам і Айцом — гэта наведванне сіротаў і ўдоваў у іхняй нядолі і захаванне сябе незаплямленым светам.
