Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.

Тогда Пилат велел подвергнуть Иисуса бичеванию.

The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe

А воины сплели венец из терновника и надели Ему на голову, облачили Его в багряный плащ

and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.

и подходили к Нему со словами: «да здравствует царь иудеев!»

Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Затем Пилат снова вышел и объявил собравшимся:— Сейчас я поставлю Его перед вами, чтобы вы знали: я не считаю Его ни в чем виновным.

When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”

И тут вышел Иисус в терновом венце и багровом плаще. Пилат им говорит:— Вот этот Человек.

As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!” But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”

Но когда Его увидели первосвященники и стража, то стали кричать:— Распни, распни Его!Говорит им Пилат:— Сами Его берите и распинайте, а я не считаю Его ни в чем виновным.

The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”

Ответили ему иудеи:— У нас есть закон, и по этому закону Он заслуживает смерти, потому что выдавал Себя за Божьего Сына!

When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid,

Пилат, услышав это, еще больше испугался.

and he went back inside the palace. “Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer.

Он вернулся в преторий и спросил Иисуса:— Откуда Ты?Но Иисус не дал ему ответа. Тогда Пилат Ему говорит:— Ты не разговариваешь со мной?

“Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?”

Разве Ты не понимаешь, что в моей власти отпустить Тебя, и распять Тебя тоже в моей власти?

Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”

Ответил ему Иисус:— Не было бы у тебя никакой власти надо Мной, если бы тебе это не было дано свыше. Потому больше греха на том, кто Меня тебе предал.

From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting, “If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar.”

После такого Пилат искал возможности Его отпустить. Но иудеи кричали:— Если ты Его отпустишь, ты не друг Цезарю! Всякий, кто выдает себя за царя — против Цезаря!

When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha).

Услышав такие слова, Пилат вывел Иисуса наружу, а сам сел на судейское кресло на месте, которое называется «Каменный помост», а по-еврейски «Габбата».

It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon. “Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

То был канун Пасхи, около полудня. Говорит он иудеям:— Вот ваш царь!

But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

Но те закричали:— Долой, долой, распни Его!Говорит им Пилат:— Мне что, распять вашего царя?Первосвященники ему ответили:— Нет у нас никакого царя, кроме Цезаря!

Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.The Crucifixion of Jesus So the soldiers took charge of Jesus.

И тогда Пилат отдал Его им, чтобы они его распяли. Иисуса взяли и увели.

Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).

Неся Свой крест, Он дошел до места, которое называется «Лобным», а по-еврейски «Голгофа».

There they crucified him, and with him two others — one on each side and Jesus in the middle.

Там Его и распяли, а рядом с Ним, по ту и другую сторону, еще двоих. Иисус был посредине.

Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews.

Пилат велел написать и прибить ко кресту табличку, на которой было написано: «Иисус Назорей, царь иудеев».

Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek.

Эту табличку прочитали многие из иудеев, ведь место, где распяли Иисуса, было недалеко от города, и надпись была на еврейском, латинском и греческом языках.

The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”

Иудейские первосвященники говорили Пилату:— Не надо писать «царь иудеев», а надо так: «этот человек называл Себя царем иудеев».

Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

Пилат им ответил:— Что я написал, то написал.

When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

Четверо воинов, распявших Иисуса, взяли Его одежду и разделили между собой, чтобы досталось каждому. Взяли и рубаху, но она была без швов, из единого куска ткани.

“Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.” This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said, “They divided my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment.”a So this is what the soldiers did.

Они меж собой решили:— Не будем ее разрывать, а кому она достанется — определим по жребию.Это случилось во исполнение слов Писания: «Разделили меж собой Мою одежду, одеяние Мое делили по жребию». Так воины и поступили.

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

Рядом с крестом Иисуса стояла Его мать вместе со своей сестрой, Марией, женой Клопаса, и Марией Магдалиной.

When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman,b here is your son,”

Иисус, видя, что там стоят Его мать и тот ученик, которого Он особенно любил, говорит матери:— Женщина, вот твой сын.

and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

А потом говорит ученику:— Вот твоя мать.И с той поры этот ученик взял ее к себе.

Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”

И тогда Иисус, понимая, что всё уже совершилось во исполнение Писания, просит:— Пить!

A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.

Там был сосуд с кислым питьем, и воины намочили в этом питье губку, насадили ее на стебель иссопа и поднесли к Его губам.

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Когда Иисус отведал этого питья, Он сказал:— Свершилось!Голова Его склонилась, Он предал дух.

Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.

Был канун субботы, и на эту же субботу приходился великий праздник. Поэтому иудеи не хотели, чтобы тела казненных оставались в субботу на крестах. Они уговорили Пилата, чтобы распятым перебили голени и сняли их тела.

The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.

Воины подошли и перебили голени у одного и другого казненного вместе с Иисусом человека.

But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs.

Когда они подошли к Иисусу, то увидели, что Он уже умер, и не перебили Ему голеней.

Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

Зато один из воинов копьем пронзил Ему ребра, и из тела вытекли кровь и вода.

The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe.

Тот, кто это видел, засвидетельствовал это, и свидетельство его истинно. Он знает, что говорит истину — чтобы и вы поверили.

These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,”c

Всё это было во исполнение слов Писания «кость его да не будет переломлена».

and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”d

И в другом месте Писание говорит: «воззрят на того, которого пронзили».

Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.

После этого Иосиф из Аримафеи (он был учеником Иисуса, но тайным, потому что он опасался иудеев) попросил Пилата отдать тело Иисуса. Пилат разрешил. И вот Иосиф пришел и взял Его тело.

He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.e

Пришел туда и Никодим, тот самый, кто приходил прежде к Иисусу ночью, он принес смесь из смирны и алоэ, фунтов около ста.

Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.

И вот они взяли тело Иисуса, обвили его полотном, пропитанным благовониями, как принято у иудеев поступать при погребении.

At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid.

В том месте, где Его распяли, был сад, а в саду — новая гробница, в которой еще никто не был похоронен.

Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Именно там они и положили тело Иисуса, потому что был канун иудейской субботы, а эта гробница была совсем рядом.
