В Иконии Павел и Варнава вошли, как обычно, в иудейскую синагогу и проповедовали так, что поверило очень много евреев и греков.

And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

Однако иудеи, которые не уверовали, возбудили язычников и настроили их против братьев.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

Павел и Варнава провели там довольно много времени. Они смело проповедовали о Господе, который подтверждал весть о своей милости тем, что давал апостолам силу совершать знамения и чудеса.

Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Жители города разделились. Одни поддерживали иудеев, а другие — апостолов.

But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

Но когда язычники и иудеи вместе со своими начальниками захотели применить к апостолам силу и побить их камнями,

And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

те, узнав об этом, бежали в города Ликаонии Листру и Дервию и в их окрестности,

They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

где продолжали проповедовать Радостную весть.

And there they preached the gospel.

В Листре жил человек, не владевший своими ногами; он был инвалидом от рождения и никогда не ходил.

And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:

Он тоже слушал проповедь Павла. Павел посмотрел на него и увидел, что у него есть вера для исцеления.

The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

— Встань на ноги прямо! — громко сказал он инвалиду. Человек вскочил и начал ходить.

Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

Люди увидели, что сделал Павел, и стали кричать на ликаонском языке: — К нам пришли боги в образе людей!

And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

Они назвали Варнаву Зевсом и Павла Гермесом, потому что он больше говорил.

And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

За городом был храм Зевса, и жрец его привел быков и принес венки к городским воротам; народ хотел принести жертву.

Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

Когда же апостолы Варнава и Павел услышали об этом, они разорвали свои одежды, кинулись в толпу и стали кричать:

Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

— Опомнитесь, что вы делаете? Мы такие же люди, как и вы! Мы принесли вам Радостную весть, и мы хотим, чтобы вы оставили этих бесполезных идолов и обратились к живому Богу, который создал небо и землю, море и все, что в них.

And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

В прошлом Он позволял народам ходить каждому своими путями,

Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

но Он продолжал свидетельствовать о себе, делая добро, посылая вам дождь с небес и урожай вовремя. Он дает вам пищу и наполняет ваши сердца радостью.

Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Но даже этими словами им едва удалось убедить народ не приносить им жертву.

And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

Однако иудеи, которые пришли из Aнтиохии и Иконии, склонили толпу на свою сторону. Павла побили камнями и выволокли за город, думая, что он уже мертв.

And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

Но когда ученики собрались вокруг него, он поднялся и пошел обратно в город. На следующий день они с Варнавой ушли в Дервию.

Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

Они проповедовали Радостную весть в этом городе и приобрели много учеников. Затем они возвратились в Листру, Иконию и Aнтиохию.

And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

Там они ободряли учеников и воодушевляли их оставаться твердыми в вере. — Нам предстоит испытать много скорбей перед тем, как мы войдем в Божье Царство, — говорили они.

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Павел и Варнава в каждой церкви назначили старших и, помолившись с постом, передали их Господу, в которого они уверовали.

And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

Aпостолы прошли Писидию и пришли в Памфилию.

And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

Проповедав Слово в Пергии, они пришли в Aтталию.

And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

Из Aтталии они отплыли обратно в Aнтиохию, где они были вверены Божьей милости для совершения работы, которую они успешно завершили.

And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

Вернувшись обратно, они собрали церковь и рассказали обо всем, что Бог совершил через них, и как Он открыл дверь веры для язычников.

And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

Там они пробыли довольно много времени вместе с учениками.

And there they abode long time with the disciples.
