В Иконии они вдвоем пришли в иудейскую синагогу и говорили так, что многие и многие — как иудеи, так и эллины — приняли веру.

And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

Но те иудеи, что были не согласны, сумели враждебно настроить язычников против братьев.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

Все-таки Павел и Варнава пробыли здесь довольно долго. Они смело говорили о Господе, а Он их речам сообщал Свою благодатную силу и их руками совершал дивные дела и чудеса.

Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

Город разделился надвое: одни взяли сторону иудейскую, другие — апостольскую.

But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

Язычники, иудеи и местная власть сговорились было учинить над ними расправу: побить камнями.

And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

Почуяв это, апостолы бежали в ликаонские города Листру и Дербу и в тех краях

They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

Продолжали возвещать евангелие.

And there they preached the gospel.

В Листре сидел и никогда от рождения не ходил некий калека с отнявшимися ногами.

And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:

Павел говорил, он слушал, и Павел, пристально глядя на него, увидел в нем для исцеления достаточно веры

The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

И крикнул: «А ну-ка, вставай!». Тот вскочил и пошел.

Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

Павел сделал это у всех на глазах, и толпа ликаонян начала выкрикивать на своем языке: «Сошли к нам в образе человеческом боги!».

And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

Ликаоняне называли Варнаву Зевсом, а Павла — за его веское слово — Гермесом.

And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

Жрец Зевса — идола, установленного на окраине города, — пригнал к воротам быков, увешанных венками. Здесь перед толпой он стал готовиться принести им жертву.

Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

Когда это дошло до Варнавы и Павла, апостолы разодрали на себе одежду и с громкими криками выбежали к толпе. Они говорили:

Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

«Что вы делаете? Мы такие же люди, как вы, а только пришли к вам с добрым словом: от этих безделиц обратитесь к Богу Живому, сотворившему и небо, и землю, и море, и все, что в них.

And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

Он в первых поколениях позволил всем народам пройти их собственным путем,

Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

Хотя и не прекращал напоминать о Себе благодеяниями: дождями с неба, обилием плодов ко времени, пищей у вас на столе, всей радостью жизни».

Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

Этими словами они, хоть и с трудом, но все-таки успокоили толпу, не позволив ей принести им жертву.

And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

Но пришли иудеи из Антиохии и Икония и переманили толпу. Павла побили камнями и, полагая, что он мертв, оттащили за город.

And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

Вокруг него собрались ученики. И тут он встал. В город он вернулся, но на другой день ушел с Варнавой в Дербу.

Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

Возвестив евангельскую весть в этом городе, они приобрели много учеников и затем вернулись в Листру, Иконию и Антиохию.

And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

В учениках они поддерживали решимость никогда не терять веры и говорили им: «Путь в Божье Царство пролегает через многие страдания».

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Во главе каждой церкви они поставили пресвитеров и, помолившись, с постом, предали их Господу по своей в Него вере.

And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

Пройдя через Писидию, они пришли в Памфилию,

And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

Где проповедовали Слово в Перге. Спустились в Атталию.

And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

Оттуда они отплыли в Антиохию, где по Божьей милости начинали дело, которое теперь исполнили.

And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

По прибытии туда они собрали церковь и всех известили о том, как распорядился ими Бог и как язычникам Он отворил дверь веры.

And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

И не сразу закончился этот их визит к ученикам.

And there they abode long time with the disciples.
