Гости из Иудеи учили братьев: «Не обрежетесь по Моисееву обряду — не спасетесь».

And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

У Павла и Варнавы вышло с ними серьезное разногласие, и они заспорили. Было решено направить с этим в Иерусалим к апостолам и пресвитерам делегацию: Павла, Варнаву и других братьев.

When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

Церковь их проводила, и они пошли через Финикию и Самарию, рассказывая об обращении язычников. Великую радость доставили они всем братьям.

And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

В Иерусалиме они были радушно приняты церковью, апостолами и пресвитерами и всех там известили, как распорядился ими Бог.

And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

При этом фарисеи, из тех, что поверили, выступили с требованием: «Язычникам — обрезываться, соблюдать Моисеев Закон».

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

Для рассмотрения дела собрались апостолы и пресвитеры.

And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

В завершение долгих прений Петр сказал: «Мужи братья! Вам известно, что Бог с первых дней усмотрел среди вас Свой выбор: язычникам услышать из моих уст слово евангелия и уверовать.

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

Бог Провидец предъявил им и знак: наравне с нами даровал им Святого Духа.

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

Верой очистил Он их сердца, устранил всякое между нами различие.

And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

Для чего же вы теперь искушаете Бога и ученикам на шею надеваете ярмо, оказавшееся не по силам ни нашим отцам, ни нам самим?

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

Мы верим, что и нас, и их — всех спасет благодать Господа Иисуса».

But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

В собрании наступила тишина. Все стали слушать рассказ Варнавы и Павла о том, какие дивные дела и чудеса сотворял их руками среди язычников Бог.

Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

Потом слово взял Иаков. Он сказал: «Слушайте, мужи братья!

And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

Симон напомнил вам, как Бог отнюдь не в последнюю очередь озаботился привлечением под Свое имя народа из язычников.

Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

С этим согласуются слова Пророков, как написано:

And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

“После этого вернусь и скинию Давидову павшую отстрою заново. Из руин подниму и поставлю, как было.

After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

И взыщут Господа все прочие люди, все язычники, собранные под Мое имя, — говорит Господь, возвестивший об этом

That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

Еще в древности.”

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

Поэтому я рассудил не чинить преград язычникам, которые обращаются к Богу,

Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

А только написать им, чтобы воздерживались от идольской скверны, от разврата и от удавленины и крови.

But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

Не зря же столько поколений подряд во всех городах по субботам звучат в синагогах голоса толкователей и чтецов Моисеева Закона».

For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

Тогда апостолы и пресвитеры и с ними вся церковь сошлись на том, чтобы выделить от себя посланцев: Иуду, по прозванию Варсава, и Силу, руководящих среди братьев, — и направить их с Павлом и Варнавой в Антиохию.

Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

И передали с ними в письме следующее: «Братья апостолы и пресвитеры — братьям из язычников в Антиохии, Сирии и Киликии: приветствуем вас!

And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:

Мы узнали, что некоторые из наших пришли и запугали вас своими запретами, обеспокоили ваши умы. Этого мы им не поручали.

Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

Мы теперь все вместе договорились послать к вам с дорогими нашими братьями Варнавой и Павлом, —

It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

Теми, кто жизни своей не щадит ради Господа нашего Иисуса Христа, —

Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Иуду и Силу, которые передадут вам это же на словах.

We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

Угодно же Святому Духу и нам более не возлагать на вас бремени, а лишь необходимое:

For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

Воздерживаться от жертвоприношения идолам, от крови и удавленины и от разврата. Избегая всего этого, хорошо сделаете. Прощайте».

That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Их проводили в дорогу, и они пришли в Антиохию. Всех собрав, вручили письмо.

So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

Письмо там прочитали и порадовались ободряющему наставлению.

Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

Иуда и Сила, сами пророки, еще больше подбодрили братьев, прибавили им решимости.

And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

Некоторое время спустя братья с миром проводили их в обратный путь.

And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

Павел и Варнава остались и со многими другими братьями учили антиохийцев, опираясь на Слово Господне.

Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

Прошло время, и Павел сказал Варнаве: «Пора нам вернуться в города, где мы возвещали Слово Господне, и навестить наших братьев: как они там?».

And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

Варнава предложил взять с собой Иоанна Марка.

And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

Но Павел посчитал за лучшее бросившего их в Памфилии и с их делом с ними не ходившего товарища не брать.

But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

Из-за этого произошла между ними размолвка. Они расстались, и Варнава отплыл с Марком на Кипр.

And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

Павел, которого братья препоручили Божьей милости, остановил свой выбор на Силе. С ним и отправился он в путь

And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

По Сирии и Киликии, где укреплял церкви.

And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
