The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Dies ist der Anfang des Evangeliums von Jesus Christus, dem Sohn Gottes.

As it is written in Isaiah the prophet: “BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY;

Wie geschrieben steht im Propheten Jesaja: «Siehe, ich sende meinen Boten vor dir her, der deinen Weg bereiten soll.» «

THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS, ‘MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD, MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.’”

Es ist eine Stimme eines Predigers in der Wüste: Bereitet den Weg des Herrn, macht seine Steige eben!» (Maleachi 3,1; Jesaja 40,3):

John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

Johannes der Täufer war in der Wüste und predigte die Taufe der Buße zur Vergebung der Sünden.

And all the country of Judea was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.

Und es ging zu ihm hinaus das ganze jüdische Land und alle Leute von Jerusalem und ließen sich von ihm taufen im Jordan und bekannten ihre Sünden.

John was clothed with camel’s hair and wore a leather belt around his waist, and his diet was locusts and wild honey.

Johannes aber trug ein Gewand aus Kamelhaaren und einen ledernen Gürtel um seine Lenden und aß Heuschrecken und wilden Honig

And he was preaching, and saying, “After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of His sandals.

und predigte und sprach: Es kommt einer nach mir, der ist stärker als ich; und ich bin nicht wert, daß ich mich vor ihm bücke und die Riemen seiner Schuhe löse.

“I baptized you with water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

Ich taufe euch mit Wasser; aber er wird euch mit dem heiligen Geist taufen.

In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Und es begab sich zu der Zeit, daß Jesus aus Nazareth in Galiläa kam und ließ sich taufen von Johannes im Jordan.

Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him;

Und alsbald, als er aus dem Wasser stieg, sah er, daß sich der Himmel auftat und der Geist wie eine Taube herabkam auf ihn.

and a voice came out of the heavens: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

Und da geschah eine Stimme vom Himmel: Du bist mein lieber Sohn, an dir habe ich Wohlgefallen.

Immediately the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the wilderness.

Und alsbald trieb ihn der Geist in die Wüste;

And He was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan; and He was with the wild beasts, and the angels were ministering to Him.

und er war in der Wüste vierzig Tage und wurde versucht von dem Satan und war bei den wilden Tieren, und die Engel dienten ihm.

Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,

Nachdem aber Johannes gefangengesetzt war, kam Jesus nach Galiläa und predigte das Evangelium Gottes

and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

und sprach: Die Zeit ist erfüllt, und das Reich Gottes ist herbeigekommen. Tut Buße und glaubt an das Evangelium!

As He was going along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen.

Als er aber am Galiläischen Meer entlangging, sah er Simon und Andreas, Simons Bruder, wie sie ihre Netze ins Meer warfen; denn sie waren Fischer.

And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”

Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Folgt mir nach; ich will euch zu Menschenfischern machen!

Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

Sogleich verließen sie ihre Netze und folgten ihm nach.

Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.

Und als er ein wenig weiterging, sah er Jakobus, den Sohn des Zebedäus, und Johannes, seinen Bruder, wie sie im Boot die Netze flickten.

Immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went away to follow Him.

Und alsbald rief er sie, und sie ließen ihren Vater Zebedäus im Boot mit den Tagelöhnern und folgten ihm nach.

They went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and began to teach.

Und sie gingen hinein nach Kapernaum; und alsbald am Sabbat ging er in die Synagoge und lehrte.

They were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Und sie entsetzten sich über seine Lehre; denn er lehrte mit Vollmacht und nicht wie die Schriftgelehrten.

Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

Und alsbald war in ihrer Synagoge ein Mensch, besessen von einem unreinen Geist; der schrie: Siehe Sach- und Worterklärungen.

saying, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are — the Holy One of God!”

Was willst du von uns, Jesus von Nazareth? Du bist gekommen, uns zu vernichten. Ich weiß, wer du bist: der Heilige Gottes!

And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”

Und Jesus bedrohte ihn und sprach: Verstumme und fahre aus von ihm!

Throwing him into convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice and came out of him.

Und der unreine Geist riß ihn und schrie laut und fuhr aus von ihm.

They were all amazed, so that they debated among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”

Und sie entsetzten sich alle, so daß sie sich untereinander befragten und sprachen: Was ist das? Eine neue Lehre in Vollmacht! Er gebietet auch den unreinen Geistern, und sie gehorchen ihm!

Immediately the news about Him spread everywhere into all the surrounding district of Galilee.

Und die Kunde von ihm erscholl alsbald überall im ganzen galiläischen Land.

And immediately after they came out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

Und alsbald gingen sie aus der Synagoge und kamen in das Haus des Simon und Andreas mit Jakobus und Johannes.

Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they spoke to Jesus about her.

Und die Schwiegermutter Simons lag darnieder und hatte das Fieber; und alsbald sagten sie ihm von ihr.

And He came to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she waited on them.

Da trat er zu ihr, faßte sie bei der Hand und richtete sie auf; und das Fieber verließ sie, und sie diente ihnen.

When evening came, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed.

Am Abend aber, als die Sonne untergegangen war, brachten sie zu ihm alle Kranken und Besessenen.

And the whole city had gathered at the door.

Und die ganze Stadt war versammelt vor der Tür.

And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.

Und er half vielen Kranken, die mit mancherlei Gebrechen beladen waren, und trieb viele böse Geister aus und ließ die Geister nicht reden; denn sie kannten ihn.

In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.

Und am Morgen, noch vor Tage, stand er auf und ging hinaus. Und er ging an eine einsame Stätte und betete dort.

Simon and his companions searched for Him;

Simon aber und die bei ihm waren, eilten ihm nach.

they found Him, and said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.”

Und als sie ihn fanden, sprachen sie zu ihm: Jedermann sucht dich.

He said to them, “Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may preach there also; for that is what I came for.”

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Laßt uns anderswohin gehen, in die nächsten Städte, daß ich auch dort predige; denn dazu bin ich gekommen.

And He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out the demons.

Und er kam und predigte in ihren Synagogen in ganz Galiläa und trieb die bösen Geister aus.

And a leper came to Jesus, beseeching Him and falling on his knees before Him, and saying, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Und es kam zu ihm ein Aussätziger, der bat ihn, kniete nieder und sprach zu ihm: Willst du, so kannst du mich reinigen.

Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

Und es jammerte ihn, und er streckte die Hand aus, rührte ihn an und sprach zu ihm: Ich will's tun; sei rein!

Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.

Und sogleich wich der Aussatz von ihm, und er wurde rein.

And He sternly warned him and immediately sent him away,

Und Jesus drohte ihm und trieb ihn alsbald von sicha

and He said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

und sprach zu ihm: Sieh zu, daß du niemandem etwas sagst; sondern geh hin und zeige dich dem Priester und opfere für deine Reinigung, was Mose geboten hat, ihnen zum Zeugnis.

But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the news around, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming to Him from everywhere.

Er aber ging fort und fing an, viel davon zu reden und die Geschichte bekanntzumachen, so daß Jesus hinfort nicht mehr öffentlich in eine Stadt gehen konnte; sondern er war draußen an einsamen Orten; doch sie kamen zu ihm von allen Enden.
