These are the words that Moses spoke to all the people of Israel while they were in the wilderness east of the Jordan River. They were camped in the Jordan Valleya near Suph, between Paran on one side and Tophel, Laban, Hazeroth, and Di-zahab on the other.

Сии́ суть слова́, кото́рые говори́л Моисе́й всем Израильтя́нам за Иорда́ном в пусты́не на равни́не про́тив Су́фа, ме́жду Фара́ном и Тофе́лом, и Лава́ном, и Асиро́фом, и Дизага́вом,

Normally it takes only eleven days to travel from Mount Sinaib to Kadesh-barnea, going by way of Mount Seir.

в расстоя́нии оди́ннадцати дней пути́ от Хори́ва, по доро́ге от горы́ Сеи́р к Каде́с-Варни́.

But forty years after the Israelites left Egypt, on the first day of the eleventh month,c Moses addressed the people of Israel, telling them everything the LORD had commanded him to say.

Сороково́го го́да, оди́ннадцатого ме́сяца, в пе́рвый день ме́сяца говори́л Моисе́й сына́м Изра́илевым всё, что запове́дал ему́ Госпо́дь о них.

This took place after he had defeated King Sihon of the Amorites, who ruled in Heshbon, and at Edrei had defeated King Og of Bashan, who ruled in Ashtaroth.

По убие́нии им Сиго́на, царя́ Аморре́йского, кото́рый жил в Есево́не, и О́га, царя́ Васа́нского, кото́рый жил в Аштеро́фе в Едре́и,

While the Israelites were in the land of Moab east of the Jordan River, Moses carefully explained the LORD’s instructions as follows.

за Иорда́ном, в земле́ Моави́тской, на́чал Моисе́й изъясня́ть зако́н сей и сказа́л:

“When we were at Mount Sinai, the LORD our God said to us, ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough.

Госпо́дь, Бог наш, говори́л нам в Хори́ве и сказа́л: «по́лно вам жить на горе́ сей!

It is time to break camp and move on. Go to the hill country of the Amorites and to all the neighboring regions — the Jordan Valley, the hill country, the western foothills,d the Negev, and the coastal plain. Go to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, and all the way to the great Euphrates River.

Обрати́тесь, отпра́вьтесь в путь и пойди́те на го́ру Аморре́ев и ко всем сосе́дям их, на равни́ну, на го́ру, на ни́зкие места́, и на ю́жный край, и к берега́м мо́ря, в зе́млю Ханаа́нскую, и к Лива́ну, да́же до реки́ вели́кой, реки́ Евфра́та;

Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the LORD swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants.’”

вот, Я даю́ вам зе́млю сию́, пойди́те, возьми́те в насле́дие зе́млю, кото́рую Госпо́дь с кля́твою обеща́л дать отца́м ва́шим, Авраа́му, Исаа́ку и Иа́кову, им и пото́мству их».

Moses continued, “At that time I told you, ‘You are too great a burden for me to carry all by myself.

И я сказа́л вам в то вре́мя: не могу́ оди́н води́ть вас;

The LORD your God has increased your population, making you as numerous as the stars!

Госпо́дь, Бог ваш, размно́жил вас, и вот, вы ны́не многочи́сленны, как звёзды небе́сные;

And may the LORD, the God of your ancestors, multiply you a thousand times more and bless you as he promised!

Госпо́дь, Бог отцо́в ва́ших, да умно́жит вас в ты́сячу крат про́тив того́, ско́лько вас тепе́рь, и да благослови́т вас, как Он говори́л вам:

But you are such a heavy load to carry! How can I deal with all your problems and bickering?

как же мне одному́ носи́ть тя́гости ва́ши, бремена́ ва́ши и ра́спри ва́ши?

Choose some well-respected men from each tribe who are known for their wisdom and understanding, and I will appoint them as your leaders.’

избери́те себе́ по коле́нам ва́шим муже́й му́дрых, разу́мных и испы́танных, и я поста́влю их нача́льниками ва́шими.

“Then you responded, ‘Your plan is a good one.’

Вы отвеча́ли мне и сказа́ли: хоро́шее де́ло вели́шь ты сде́лать.

So I took the wise and respected men you had selected from your tribes and appointed them to serve as judges and officials over you. Some were responsible for a thousand people, some for a hundred, some for fifty, and some for ten.

И взял я гла́вных из коле́н ва́ших, муже́й му́дрых и испы́танных, и сде́лал их нача́льниками над ва́ми, тысяченача́льниками, стонача́льниками, пятидесятинача́льниками, десятинача́льниками и надзира́телями по коле́нам ва́шим.

“At that time I instructed the judges, ‘You must hear the cases of your fellow Israelites and the foreigners living among you. Be perfectly fair in your decisions

И дал я повеле́ние су́дьям ва́шим в то вре́мя, говоря́: выслу́шивайте бра́тьев ва́ших и суди́те справедли́во, как бра́та с бра́том, так и прише́льца его́;

and impartial in your judgments. Hear the cases of those who are poor as well as those who are rich. Don’t be afraid of anyone’s anger, for the decision you make is God’s decision. Bring me any cases that are too difficult for you, and I will handle them.’

не различа́йте лиц на суде́, как ма́лого, так и вели́кого выслу́шивайте: не бо́йтесь лица́ челове́ческого, и́бо суд — де́ло Бо́жие; а де́ло, кото́рое для вас тру́дно, доводи́те до меня́, и я вы́слушаю его́.

“At that time I gave you instructions about everything you were to do.

И дал я вам в то вре́мя повеле́ния обо всём, что надлежи́т вам де́лать.

“Then, just as the LORD our God commanded us, we left Mount Sinai and traveled through the great and terrifying wilderness, as you yourselves remember, and headed toward the hill country of the Amorites. When we arrived at Kadesh-barnea,

И отпра́вились мы от Хори́ва, и шли по всей э́той вели́кой и стра́шной пусты́не, кото́рую вы ви́дели, по пути́ к горе́ Аморре́йской, как повеле́л Госпо́дь, Бог наш, и пришли́ в Каде́с-Варни́.

I said to you, ‘You have now reached the hill country of the Amorites that the LORD our God is giving us.

И сказа́л я вам: вы пришли́ к горе́ Аморре́йской, кото́рую Госпо́дь, Бог наш, даёт нам;

Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’

вот, Госпо́дь, Бог твой, отдаёт тебе́ зе́млю сию́, иди́, возьми́ её во владе́ние, как говори́л тебе́ Госпо́дь, Бог отцо́в твои́х, не бо́йся и не ужаса́йся.

“But you all came to me and said, ‘First, let’s send out scouts to explore the land for us. They will advise us on the best route to take and which towns we should enter.’

Но вы все подошли́ ко мне и сказа́ли: пошлём пред собо́ю люде́й, чтоб они́ иссле́довали нам зе́млю и принесли́ нам изве́стие о доро́ге, по кото́рой идти́ нам, и о города́х, в кото́рые идти́ нам.

“This seemed like a good idea to me, so I chose twelve scouts, one from each of your tribes.

Сло́во э́то мне понра́вилось, и я взял из вас двена́дцать челове́к, по одному́ челове́ку от ка́ждого коле́на.

They headed for the hill country and came to the valley of Eshcol and explored it.

Они́ пошли́, взошли́ на го́ру и дошли́ до доли́ны Есхо́л, и обозре́ли её;

They picked some of its fruit and brought it back to us. And they reported, ‘The land the LORD our God has given us is indeed a good land.’

и взя́ли в ру́ки свои́ плодо́в земли́, и доста́вили нам, и принесли́ нам изве́стие, и сказа́ли: хороша́ земля́, кото́рую Госпо́дь, Бог наш, даёт нам.

“But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God and refused to go in.

Но вы не захоте́ли идти́ и воспроти́вились повеле́нию Го́спода, Бо́га ва́шего,

You complained in your tents and said, ‘The LORD must hate us. That’s why he has brought us here from Egypt — to hand us over to the Amorites to be slaughtered.

и ропта́ли в шатра́х ва́ших, и говори́ли: Госпо́дь, по не́нависти к нам, вы́вел нас из земли́ Еги́петской, чтоб отда́ть нас в ру́ки Аморре́ев и истреби́ть нас;

Where can we go? Our brothers have demoralized us with their report. They tell us, “The people of the land are taller and more powerful than we are, and their towns are large, with walls rising high into the sky! We even saw giants there — the descendants of Anak!”’

куда́ мы пойдём? Бра́тья на́ши рассла́били се́рдце на́ше, говоря́: «наро́д тот бо́лее и вы́ше нас, города́ там больши́е и с укрепле́ниями до небе́с, да и сыно́в Ена́ковых ви́дели мы там».

“But I said to you, ‘Don’t be shocked or afraid of them!

И я сказа́л вам: не страши́тесь и не бо́йтесь их;

The LORD your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt.

Госпо́дь, Бог ваш, идёт пе́ред ва́ми; Он бу́дет сража́ться за вас, как Он сде́лал с ва́ми в Еги́пте, пред глаза́ми ва́шими,

And you saw how the LORD your God cared for you all along the way as you traveled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child. Now he has brought you to this place.’

и в пусты́не сей, где, как ты ви́дел, Госпо́дь, Бог твой, носи́л тебя́, как челове́к но́сит сы́на своего́, на всём пути́, кото́рым вы проходи́ли до прише́ствия ва́шего на сие́ ме́сто.

“But even after all he did, you refused to trust the LORD your God,

Но и при э́том вы не ве́рили Го́споду, Бо́гу ва́шему,

who goes before you looking for the best places to camp, guiding you with a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of cloud by day.

Кото́рый шёл пе́ред ва́ми путём — иска́ть вам ме́ста, где останови́ться вам, но́чью в огне́, что́бы ука́зывать вам доро́гу, по кото́рой идти́, а днём в о́блаке.

“When the LORD heard your complaining, he became very angry. So he solemnly swore,

И Госпо́дь услы́шал слова́ ва́ши, и разгне́вался, и покля́лся, говоря́:

‘Not one of you from this wicked generation will live to see the good land I swore to give your ancestors,

никто́ из люде́й сих, из сего́ зло́го ро́да, не уви́дит до́брой земли́, кото́рую Я кля́лся дать отца́м ва́шим;

except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see this land because he has followed the LORD completely. I will give to him and his descendants some of the very land he explored during his scouting mission.’

то́лько Хале́в, сын Иефо́нниин, уви́дит её; ему́ дам Я зе́млю, по кото́рой он проходи́л, и сына́м его́, за то, что он повинова́лся Го́споду.

“And the LORD was also angry with me because of you. He said to me, ‘Moses, not even you will enter the Promised Land!

И на меня́ прогне́вался Госпо́дь за вас, говоря́: и ты не войдёшь туда́;

Instead, your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will lead the people into the land. Encourage him, for he will lead Israel as they take possession of it.

Иису́с, сын Нави́н, кото́рый при тебе́, он войдёт туда́; его́ утверди́, и́бо он введёт Изра́иля во владе́ние е́ю;

I will give the land to your little ones — your innocent children. You were afraid they would be captured, but they will be the ones who occupy it.

де́ти ва́ши, о кото́рых вы говори́ли, что они́ доста́нутся в добы́чу врага́м, и сыновья́ ва́ши, кото́рые не зна́ют ны́не ни добра́, ни зла, они́ войду́т туда́, им дам её, и они́ овладе́ют е́ю;

As for you, turn around now and go on back through the wilderness toward the Red Sea.e’

а вы обрати́тесь и отпра́вьтесь в пусты́ню по доро́ге к Че́рмному мо́рю.

“Then you confessed, ‘We have sinned against the LORD! We will go into the land and fight for it, as the LORD our God has commanded us.’ So your men strapped on their weapons, thinking it would be easy to attack the hill country.

И вы отвеча́ли тогда́ и сказа́ли мне: согреши́ли мы пред Го́сподом, пойдём и срази́мся, как повеле́л нам Госпо́дь, Бог наш. И препоя́сались вы, ка́ждый, ра́тным ору́жием свои́м, и безрассу́дно реши́лись взойти́ на го́ру.

“But the LORD told me to tell you, ‘Do not attack, for I am not with you. If you go ahead on your own, you will be crushed by your enemies.’

Но Госпо́дь сказа́л мне: скажи́ им: «не всходи́те и не сража́йтесь, потому́ что нет Меня́ среди́ вас, что́бы не порази́ли вас враги́ ва́ши».

“This is what I told you, but you would not listen. Instead, you again rebelled against the LORD’s command and arrogantly went into the hill country to fight.

И я говори́л вам, но вы не послу́шали и воспроти́вились повеле́нию Госпо́дню и по упо́рству своему́ взошли́ на го́ру.

But the Amorites who lived there came out against you like a swarm of bees. They chased and battered you all the way from Seir to Hormah.

И вы́ступил про́тив вас Аморре́й, жи́вший на горе́ той, и пресле́довали вас так, как де́лают пчёлы, и поража́ли вас на Сеи́ре до са́мой Хо́рмы.

Then you returned and wept before the LORD, but he refused to listen.

И возврати́лись вы и пла́кали пред Го́сподом: но Госпо́дь не услы́шал во́пля ва́шего и не внял вам.

So you stayed there at Kadesh for a long time.

И пробы́ли вы в Каде́се мно́го вре́мени, ско́лько вре́мени вы там бы́ли.
