After these things Paul departed from Athens and went to Corinth.

После этого Павел, оставив Афины, пришел в Коринф;

And he found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla (because Claudius had commanded all the Jews to depart from Rome); and he came to them.

и, найдя некоторого иудея по имени Акила, родом понтийца, и Прискиллу, жену его, недавно пришедших из Италии, — потому что Клавдий повелел всем иудеям удалиться из Рима, — пришел к ним;

So, because he was of the same trade, he stayed with them and worked; for by occupation they were tentmakers.

и, по одинаковости ремесла, остался у них и работал; ибо ремеслом их было делание палаток.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath, and persuaded both Jews and Greeks.

Во всякую же субботу он говорил в синагоге и убеждал иудеев и эллинов.

When Silas and Timothy had come from Macedonia, Paul was compelled [a]by the Spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus is the Christ.

А когда пришли из Македонии Сила и Тимофей, то Павел понуждаем был Духом свидетельствовать иудеям, что Иисус есть Христос.

But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them, “Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.”

Но как они противились и злословили, то он, отряхнув одежды свои, сказал им: «Кровь ваша на главах ваших. Я чист; отныне иду к язычникам».

And he departed from there and entered the house of a certain man named [b]Justus, one who worshiped God, whose house was next door to the synagogue.

И пошел оттуда, и пришел к некоему чтущему Бога по имени Иуст, которого дом был подле синагоги.

Then Crispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his household. And many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized.

Крисп же, начальник синагоги, уверовал в Господа со всем домом своим, и многие из коринфян, слушая, уверовали и крестились.

Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent;

Господь же в видении ночью сказал Павлу: «Не бойся, но говори и не умолкай,

for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.”

ибо Я с тобой и никто не сделает тебе зла, потому что у Меня много людей в этом городе».

And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

И он оставался там год и шесть месяцев, уча их слову Божьему.

When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him to the [c]judgment seat,

Между тем, во время проконсульства Галлиона в Ахаии, иудеи единодушно напали на Павла и привели его пред судилище,

saying, “This fellow persuades men to worship God contrary to the law.”

говоря, что он учит людей чтить Бога не по закону.

And when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of wrongdoing or wicked crimes, O Jews, there would be reason why I should bear with you.

Когда же Павел хотел открыть уста, Галлион сказал иудеям: «Иудеи! Если бы какая-нибудь была обида или злой умысел, то я имел бы причину выслушать вас,

But if it is a question of words and names and your own law, look to it yourselves; for I do not want to be a judge of such matters.”

но когда идет спор об учении, и об именах, и о законе вашем, то разбирайте сами; я не хочу быть судьею в этом».

And he drove them from the judgment seat.

И прогнал их от судилища.

Then [d]all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. But Gallio took no notice of these things.

А все эллины, схватив Сосфена, начальника синагоги, били его перед судилищем; и Галлион нисколько не беспокоился о том.

So Paul still remained [e]a good while. Then he took leave of the brethren and sailed for Syria, and Priscilla and Aquila were with him. He had his hair cut off at Cenchrea, for he had taken a vow.

Павел, пробыв еще много дней, простился с братьями и отплыл в Сирию, — и с ним Прискилла и Акила, — остригши голову в Кенхреях, по обету.

And he came to Ephesus, and left them there; but he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

Достигнув Ефеса, оставил их там, а сам вошел в синагогу и рассуждал с иудеями.

When they asked him to stay a longer time with them, he did not consent,

Когда же они просили его побыть у них долее, он не согласился,

but took leave of them, saying, “I[f] must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem; but I will return again to you, God willing.” And he sailed from Ephesus.

а простился с ними, сказав: «Мне непременно нужно провести приближающийся праздник в Иерусалиме; к вам же возвращусь опять, если будет угодно Богу». И отправился из Ефеса. (Акила же и Прискилла остались в Ефесе.)

And when he had landed at Caesarea, and [g]gone up and greeted the church, he went down to Antioch.

Побывав в Кесарии, он восшел в Иерусалим, приветствовал церковь и сошел в Антиохию.

After he had spent some time there, he departed and went over the region of Galatia and Phrygia [h]in order, strengthening all the disciples.

И, проведя там некоторое время, вышел и проходил по порядку страну галатийскую и Фригию, утверждая всех учеников.

Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus.

Некто иудей по имени Аполлос, родом из Александрии, муж красноречивый и сведущий в Писаниях, пришел в Ефес.

This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.

Он был наставлен в начатках пути Господнего, и, горя духом, говорил, и учил о Господе правильно, зная только крещение Иоанново.

So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

Он начал смело говорить в синагоге. Услышав его, Акила и Прискилла приняли его и точнее объяснили ему путь Господень.

And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;

А когда он вознамерился идти в Ахаию, то братья послали к тамошним ученикам, располагая их принять его; и он, прибыв туда, много содействовал уверовавшим благодатью,

for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.

ибо он сильно опровергал иудеев всенародно, доказывая Писаниями, что Иисус есть Христос.
