Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

Услышали апостолы и братья, бывшие в Иудее, что и язычники приняли слово Божие.

And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him,

И когда Петр пришел в Иерусалим, обрезанные упрекали его,

saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”

говоря: «Ты ходил к людям необрезанным и ел с ними».

But Peter explained it to them in order from the beginning, saying:

Петр же начал пересказывать им по порядку, говоря:

“I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me.

«В городе Иоппии я молился, и в исступлении видел видение: сходил некий сосуд, как бы большое полотно, за четыре угла спускаемое с неба, и спустилось ко мне.

When I observed it intently and considered, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.

Я посмотрел в него и, рассматривая, увидел четвероногих земных, и зверей, и пресмыкающихся, и птиц небесных.

And I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’

И услышал я голос, говорящий мне: „Встань, Петр, заколи и ешь“.

But I said, ‘Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.’

Я же сказал: „Нет, Господи, ничего скверного или нечистого никогда не входило в уста мои“.

But the voice answered me again from heaven, ‘What God has cleansed you must not call common.’

И отвечал мне голос вторично с неба: „Что Бог очистил, того ты не почитай нечистым“.

Now this was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.

Это было трижды, и опять поднялось всё на небо.

At that very moment, three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.

И вот, в тот самый час стали перед домом, в котором я был, три человека, посланные из Кесарии ко мне.

Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house.

Дух сказал мне, чтобы я шел с ними, нисколько не сомневаясь. Пошли со мной и эти шестеро братьев, и мы пришли в дом того человека.

And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, ‘Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter,

Он рассказал нам, как он видел в доме своем ангела (святого), который стал и сказал ему: „Пошли в Иоппию людей и призови Симона, называемого Петром;

who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.’

он скажет тебе слова, которыми спасешься ты и весь дом твой“.

And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.

Когда же начал я говорить, сошел на них Дух Святой, как и на нас вначале.

Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’

Тогда вспомнил я слово Господа, как Он говорил: „Иоанн крестил водой, а вы будете крещены Духом Святым“.

If therefore God gave them the same gift as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”

Итак, если Бог дал им такой же дар, как и нам, уверовавшим в Господа Иисуса Христа, то кто же я, чтобы воспрепятствовать Богу?»

When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”

Выслушав это, они успокоились и прославили Бога, говоря: «Видно, и язычникам дал Бог покаяние в жизнь».

Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but the Jews only.

Между тем рассеявшиеся от гонения, бывшего после Стефана, прошли до Финикии, и Кипра, и Антиохии, никому не проповедуя слово, кроме иудеев.

But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.

Были же некоторые из них киприоты и киринейцы, которые, придя в Антиохию, говорили эллинам, благовествуя Господа Иисуса.

And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

И была рука Господня с ними, и великое число, уверовав, обратилось к Господу.

Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch.

Дошел слух об этом до церкви Иерусалимской, и поручили Варнаве идти в Антиохию.

When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.

Он, прибыв и увидев благодать Божию, возрадовался и убеждал всех держаться Господа искренним сердцем;

For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.

ибо он был муж добрый и исполненный Духа Святого и веры. И приложилось довольно народа к Господу.

Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul.

Потом Варнава пошел в Тарс искать Савла и, найдя его, привел в Антиохию.

And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

Целый год собирались они с церковью и учили немалое число людей, и в Антиохии впервые стали называть учеников христианами.

And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

В те дни пришли из Иерусалима в Антиохию пророки.

Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar.

И один из них, по имени Агав, встав, предвозвестил Духом, что по всей вселенной будет великий голод, который и был при кесаре Клавдии.

Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.

Тогда ученики решили, каждый по достатку своему, послать помощь братьям, живущим в Иудее,

This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

что и сделали, послав собранное к пресвитерам через Варнаву и Савла.
