Один же человек, по имени Анания, вместе со своей женой Сапфирой продал свое имение

But a certain man, Ananias by name, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

и часть вырученной суммы утаил, причем его жена знала об этом. Остальное же он принес и положил к ногам апостолов.

and put aside for himself part of the price, [his] wife also being privy to it; and having brought a certain part, laid it at the feet of the apostles.

Петр сказал ему: — Анания, как это сатана мог завладеть твоим сердцем настолько, что ты солгал Святому Духу и утаил часть денег, которые ты получил за проданную землю?

But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled thy heart that thou shouldest lie to the Holy Spirit, and put aside for thyself a part of the price of the estate?

Ведь земля до того, как ты её продал, была твоей, и деньги, которые ты за неё получил, тоже твои. Почему же ты замыслил такое? Ты солгал не людям, а Богу.

While it remained did it not remain to thee? and sold, was [it not] in thine own power? Why is it that thou hast purposed this thing in thine heart? Thou hast not lied to men, but to God.

Как только Анания услышал эти слова, он упал мертвым. Все присутствующие сильно испугались.

And Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and expired. And great fear came upon all who heard [it].

Подошли молодые люди, завернули его тело, вынесли и похоронили.

And the young men, rising up, swathed him up for burial, and having carried him out, buried him.

Часа три спустя пришла его жена, ничего не знавшая о происшедшем.

And it came to pass about three hours afterwards, that his wife, not knowing what had happened, came in.

Петр спросил её: — Скажи мне, вы с мужем за такую-то сумму продали землю? — Да, — ответила она, — за такую.

And Peter answered her, Tell me if ye gave the estate for so much? And she said, Yes, for so much.

Петр сказал ей: — Что это вы сговорились испытывать Духа Господа? Ты слышишь шаги у дверей? Это возвращаются хоронившие твоего мужа. Они и тебя вынесут.

And Peter said to her, Why [is it] that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of [the] Lord? Lo, the feet of those that have buried thy husband [are] at the door, and they shall carry thee out.

И в тот же момент она упала к его ногам мертвой. Молодые люди вошли и, найдя её мертвой, вынесли и похоронили её рядом с мужем.

And she fell down immediately at his feet and expired. And when the young men came in they found her dead; and, having carried her out, they buried her by her husband.

Всей церковью и всеми, кто об этом слышал, овладел великий страх.

And great fear came upon all the assembly, and upon all who heard these things.

Через апостолов в народе совершалось много знамений и чудес. Все верующие собирались вместе в колоннаде Соломона.

And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders done among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch,

И никто из случайных людей не решался к ним присоединяться, хотя народ их очень уважал.

but of the rest durst no man join them, but the people magnified them;

Верующих же в Господа становилось всё больше и больше, и мужчин, и женщин.

and believers were more than ever added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women;)

Люди выносили на улицы больных, клали их на носилках и циновках, чтобы хоть тень Петра упала на них, когда он будет проходить мимо.

so that they brought out the sick into the streets and put [them] on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter, when he came, might overshadow some one of them.

И из городов, что были близ Иерусалима, приходили толпы людей. Они приносили больных и одержимых нечистыми духами, и все исцелялись.

And the multitude also of the cities round about came together to Jerusalem, bringing sick persons and persons beset by unclean spirits, who were all healed.

Первосвященник и все его приближенные, принадлежавшие к группе саддукеев, переполнились завистью.

And the high priest rising up, and all they that were with him, which is the sect of the Sadducees, were filled with wrath,

Они арестовали апостолов и заключили их в народную темницу.

and laid hands on the apostles and put them in the public prison.

Однако ангел Господа ночью открыл ворота темницы и вывел их.

But an angel of [the] Lord during the night opened the doors of the prison, and leading them out, said,

— Идите, станьте в храме, — сказал он, — и говорите людям всё об этой новой жизни.

Go ye and stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

Они послушались и, придя рано утром в храм, начали учить. Прибыв, первосвященник и его приближенные созвали Высший Совет и всех старейшин Израиля и послали в темницу за апостолами.

And when they heard it, they entered very early into the temple and taught. And when the high priest was come, and they that were with him, they called together the council and all the elderhood of the sons of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

Но когда стражники пришли в темницу, то не нашли их там и, возвратившись, доложили:

And when the officers were come, they did not find them in the prison; and returned and reported

— Темничные ворота надежно закрыты, у ворот стоит охрана, но когда мы вошли внутрь, мы никого там не нашли.

saying, We found the prison shut with all security, and the keepers standing at the doors; but when we had opened [them], within we found no one.

Выслушав их, начальник храмовой стражи и первосвященники пришли в недоумение — что бы это значило?

And when they heard these words, both the priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests were in perplexity as to them, what this would come to.

Потом кто-то пришёл и сообщил им: — Люди, которых вы заключили в темницу, стоят в храме и учат народ.

And some one coming reported to them, Lo, the men whom ye put in the prison are in the temple, standing and teaching the people.

Тогда начальник стражи пошел со стражниками и привел апостолов. Они не применяли силу, потому что боялись, что народ может побить их камнями.

Then the captain, having gone with the officers, brought them, not with violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.

Апостолов ввели и поставили перед Высшим Советом. Первосвященник сказал им:

And they bring them and set them in the council. And the high priest asked them,

— Мы вам строго запретили учить от этого имени, но вы весь Иерусалим наполнили своим учением и хотите обвинить нас в смерти Этого Человека.

saying, We strictly enjoined you not to teach in this name: and lo, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and purpose to bring upon us the blood of this man.

Петр и другие апостолы ответили: — Мы должны больше подчиняться Богу, чем людям!

But Peter answering, and the apostles, said, God must be obeyed rather than men.

Бог наших отцов воскресил Иисуса, Которого вы убили, повесив на дереве[36].

The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus, whom ye have slain, having hanged on a cross.

Но Бог вознес Его и посадил по правую руку от Себя как Вождя и Спасителя, чтобы дать Израилю возможность покаяния и прощения грехов.

Him has God exalted by his right hand as leader and saviour, to give repentance to Israel and remission of sins.

Свидетели этому — мы и Святой Дух, Которого Бог дал тем, кто послушен Ему.

And we are [his] witnesses of these things, and the Holy Spirit also, which God has given to those that obey him.

Когда присутствующие услышали это, они пришли в ярость и хотели убить их.

But they, when they heard [these things], were cut to the heart, and took counsel to kill them.

Но тогда встал один из членов Высшего Совета, фарисей[37] по имени Гамалиил, учитель Закона, уважаемый всем народом. Он велел вывести апостолов на некоторое время.

But a certain [man], a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, held in honour of all the people, rose up in the council, and commanded to put the men out for a short while,

Затем он сказал: — Израильтяне, хорошо подумайте о том, что вы собираетесь сделать с этими людьми.

and said to them, Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves as regards these men what ye are going to do;

Не так давно объявился здесь Февда, выдававший себя за кого-то великого. За ним пошло около четырехсот человек, но когда он был убит, то все его последователи разбежались, и всё окончилось ничем.

for before these days Theudas rose up, alleging himself to be somebody, to whom a number of men, about four hundred, were joined; who was slain, and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed and came to nothing.

После него был Иуда из Галилеи. Он появился во время переписи и увлек народ за собой. Он тоже погиб, и его последователи рассеялись.

After him rose Judas the Galilean in the days of the census, and drew away [a number of] people after him; and he perished, and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered abroad.

Поэтому в данном случае вот вам мой совет: оставьте этих людей. Отпустите их. Если их начинание от людей, то оно обречено на провал.

And now I say to you, Withdraw from these men and let them alone, for if this counsel or this work have its origin from men, it will be destroyed;

Если же оно от Бога, то вы не сможете их остановить, а лишь сами окажетесь противниками Бога. Его речь убедила присутствующих.

but if it be from God, ye will not be able to put them down, lest ye be found also fighters against God.

Они призвали апостолов и приказали их избить. Потом они ещё раз запретили им говорить от имени Иисуса и отпустили.

And they listened to his advice; and having called the apostles, they beat them, and enjoined them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and dismissed them.

Апостолы покинули Высший Совет, радуясь тому, что они оказались достойными понести такое бесчестие ради имени Иисуса.

They therefore went their way from [the] presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be dishonoured for the name.

И каждый день в храме и по домам они продолжали учить и возвещать Радостную Весть о том, что Иисус — Христос.

And every day, in the temple and in the houses, they ceased not teaching and announcing the glad tidings that Jesus [was] the Christ.
